I just don't like how wildly hit or miss he is. When he hits, he really hits, but when he misses it's absolutely disastrous. I wanted to like The Happening, but ugh. Unbreakable is my definite favorite, but I think Split is his best work.
I agree. The happening was one of the most intriguing ideas for a movie and the payoff was awful. Split was great from start to finish! I’m going to see Trap this weekend and I’m hoping for the best!
His movies have missed for years and years he has intriguing ideas gets you to come see his films but they all fall flat on their face even the latest. The Sixth Sense is a masterpiece though. The problem is he used the twist thing in all the movies he’s made which he should’ve dropped that formula a long time ago
@@hippiecheezburger5457 yeah now people are expecting a twist instead of just telling a good story. Shoot if A24 can put out a good amount of movies that are great and then just suddenly end with no resolve or explanation and people praise them he should do the same and skip the twist.
He set a new level with that one! He is in a movie called Speak No Evil that comes out this year. I watched the original last night and I bet he is about to have another performance people will remember!
unbreakable is good but it became great when glass and split came out. unbreakable is still better than split in my opinion. it got m.n. shamalan trademark back when he was still making great movies. the two (glass&split) are redemption movies for me. which is good really
I don't understand the hate he gets for a few bad movies. Every director has a few bad movies under their belts, and it's okay. Everyone nowadays is a critic of everything, and I feel that people forget to enjoy just for the pleasure of enjoying. Whether it is films, books, food, sports. IMO, that is what we should leave the movies with. Did I enjoy it, did I forget about the rest of the world whilst watching this movie?
That’s a good point. If we are being real we can rip apart any movie if we wanted to. We give passes to other directors if there are plot holes in their movies. But why? At least this guy is trying for something new and original every time
Good point. M Night Shyamalan has always been one of my favorite directors and as an aspiring business owner and actress I hope to work with him one day. ❤❤❤❤
I just watched Trap and it’s another dud. My problem is that his movies are either really good or a complete waste of time. Unfortunately 90% fall under a complete waste of time so the gamble ain’t worth it for me. I’ll just keep re watching signs.
I get it man. I think he dug himself a hole as being the guy with a twist in his movies. Everyone expects them. I think he is talented but needs to make a few that don’t have twists

Split is such an incredible movie! Not really a twist but amazing performance from James Mcavoy!!

Split has the second biggest (maybe the biggest) twist in all of his movies
@@aboutabrad I think its super rewarding for people who saw Unbreakable but maybe not as much for those who haven't?
