@@emptyarthaus9535 Romans 1, the verse IMMEDIATELY after the one everyone likes to try to use to persecute homosexuals. It states in no uncertain terms that you're not permitted to ursurp God's judgement, and if you do you're tossed in a lake of fire for all time. Do not pass the confessional, do not collect forgiveness for your sins, just on fire all the forevers. I'm not sure what to tell you if you're not familiar with this amazing fictional book. Perhaps you just haven't wasted your time reading it cover to cover like most Atheists.
@michaelwolf8690 In my experience, most atheists just use the talking points and gotchas that get passed around the internet and never actually read or study the Bible. Because if they actually took the time to study The Book, they would understand that God judges ultimately. Yes, that is true. But we are allowed to criticize. After all, God smote Sodom and Gammorah for the very sins that modern society enshrines today. You know, the irony of Atheism is that it relies on the same presumptuous leaps that religion relies on. I think very few Americans realize that the majority of the members of congress were born before the Department of Education even existed. And they probably also don't know that American educational achievement vs the world has dropped dramatically since its inception in 1979.
"Non-political government employee" We did it boys. We've found the first neutral institution in the history of the world. They said it was impossible, but it was staring us right in the face: The United State's Bureaucracy.

Reacting to policy and occurrences with an incredulous face is also the go-to play of Oliver's ideological father: Jon Stewart. It's not his fault, it's how he was raised!
Let's all take a moment to slow clap John Oliver's audio production crew who are able to edit out all the sqishing noises every time he gesticulates without compromising the overall quality of his vocal track.
Most Americans who fear Trump's second term would support him if they sat down to listen to reason and realize how widespread this culture war is, how it's being shoehorned into everything from the top-down and isn't being propagated by regular people. All of this fearmongering is coming from a handful of people who actively push policies that hurt American citizens, families, and businesses. Thank God it's growing obvious to the public how mass media is used to influence people. Once someone becomes aware of it, it loses effectiveness. These can throw all the money they want at garnering public support, no amount of media coverage is going to alter the beliefs of anyone who simply looks around and sees how every day citizens are reacting to the insanity. And no amount of celebrity endorsements are going to improve public perception of these agendas. Nobody cares what their favorite musician or movie star thinks about politics, nor should they. Getting paid millions of dollars to play pretend or singing catchy jingles doesn't magically grant someone expertise on foreign policy, educations, economics, or ethics. They're out of their element, and it's embarrassing to watch.
What makes John Oliver insufferable to me (as a pragmatic liberal who used to watch him) is that he does not hold Democrats accountable when they do the same things as Republicans. The implied notion that Unitary Executive Theory isn't practiced just as strongly by liberals/Democrats is radically disingenuous.
Ughh... well, I mean... after hearing what kinds of things The 2025 Project wants to do, I think I'm on their side, but... why did they have to choose that lady as their first spokesperson??
For those federal employees who can't be reclassified, move them out of the metro DC area. For example, USDA to Kansas, DOE to North Dakota or northern Alaska. Imagine the look on an HHS employee's face when told it's heading to a Louisiana swamp. Best yet, of course, is to do away with all federal agencies except those existing in 1793.
"john o looks like he is easily alarmed" dude, you just helped me realize in part why I find him particularly obnoxious. He has this neurotic energy that makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
I’m Canadian so my opinion means nothing to any of this. But I’ve never liked trump, I’ve never hated him. He’s made some mistakes in my opinion but what person of political positions hasn’t. But this video of John Oliver trying to make trump look bad has actually changed my opinion of to think he isn’t actually that bad.
Pretty sure men who collect action figures are more into Nerdrotic than they are John Oliver these days. Maybe Oliver's male audience doesn't identify as men.
Man, I remember when I was a raging leftist and used to eat this kind of stuff up. Thanks be to God through the Lord Jesus Christ that sin no longer has power over me. And, as an added bonus, I can laugh at John Oliver's cowardice now.
Okay, I'm just over a minute in and all these jokes pass muster against John Oliver but I think he'd approve of them, too, and admit to the truth behind them.
It must be difficult to be John Oliver. Imagine going through life with only two facial expressions: alarmed and incredulous. This was really the only job he could have held down.

There. I fixed that particular policy.

It was very considerate of John Oliver to make a 30 minute commercial for Trump.
