    Asking if they were warned is a moot point, this all happened in 5 minutes with the mayday call only being 1-2 minutes before the impact. It's understandable if that was not enough to get people who are actively working and out of their vehicles off the bridge. Wish they would stop pressing that question.

      right ?? thats a huge bridge its not like you're looking at the water and can hear the calls you would need a lot of time to get out of there !! So sad for all those bridge workers it's absolutely horrible to plunge into that water Im sure they will try and recover the men lost!!

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 2 месяца назад

      Perhaps a local can correct me on this, but that should have been plenty of time to get them to the other support tower. This is a bridge that's a total of 1.6 miles long, the distance between the two support towers is only a few hundred feet. The decking and the supports are what generally go when a suspension bridge collapses, so simply getting them to the other support tower would have been enough.
      That being said, that's easier said than done when you're trying to communicate quickly and from the sound of it, the workers may not have spoken English as their first language, which would have made it more problematic and I'm benefiting from hindsight.

      It's not really pointless to say as it's a question a lot of people probably had and not everybody watches the news all the way through, so they repeat some things.

      That’s my exact thought like it happened so fast and those workers were just out of luck to be honest. Most of them were in the middle of the bridge and even if they tried to get out . The bridge was so long that it was so late

    Why is he talking about the economic impact? People just lost their lives, and unless that money is coming directly out of your pocket, it's irrelevant. We spend trillions of dollars on bs for other countries, so why is it an economic problem for us to spend only hundreds of millions on this country?

      @thisismetoday I watched every video I could find. The best one I saw showed no other vehicles driving by at the time of impact. There are a few edited videos that have been shown by news outlets that make it look like other vehicles were on the bridge. It's just spliced footage. You know how media outlets love to make it look worse than it really is. 6 is bad enough, but if they can make it look like there were more, they'll jump on it for ratings. There's actually a substantial amount of time between the last vehicles going across the bridge, and the impact of the ship. The only vehicles that were out there were construction workers.

      Probably not, most of that is typically a combination of the coast guard and the fire department. It's unlikely that the police would be involved in that directly as there isn't a lot of criminal investigation under water that can't be more appropriately accomplished by other people.

    I have been very critical of our governor since he took office. I do not agree with the majority of his policies, I think they are absolutely horrible for Marylanders unless you are one of the many recipients living in Prince George’s, Montgomery, Baltimore, Howard, Charles counties, Baltimore City and Salisbury that receive the billions of dollars in failed entitlements. However, I will say in this instance, this Governor has immediately stepped up and empowered agencies to do their jobs quickly and efficiently. I applaud his actions and leadership in this instance. So far, a job well done! As far as the two commentators on this show, their questions were amateurish and embarrassing!
