Awesome job extracting the lovely yummy honey! Looks like the bees did a great job! New video will be out early in the morning, quite odd really....oak trees, who knew? BEE Happy, and see you next time!! Cheers 🍷🍷
Hi Ken and Happy 4th. I hope you are doing well and I hope you have a wonderful day. Take it easy today, grill a burger, and listen to the amateur mortars bursting all around.
Grab some kitchen towels, spritz them and put under the inner-cover. That way you can go down the line and clean out all the supers before opening up the first hive again. Instant fume board without buying a bunch of them. Just buy the wife a new set of kitchen towels!
That isn't bad at all for such an oddball season! Toss in whatever the more active/robust castle bees plus the cappings, and you might be approaching 300 pounds, which would be sweet indeed this strange, mighty weird year.
I just went over to the Bee Castle bee yard and mowed around the hives. When I was finished I was soaked from head to toe. Temps for us today in the upper 90's
Paint the outside of your fume board black it will flash off your spray much quicker! Glad to see there is some honey for you after a bad start!oh and nice cup!
Korean beekeepers have this frame machine brush thing they just slip the frames through instead of doing the fumigating chemicals we use. It looks interesting to try as an alternative to having to buy that stuff and smell it. Gotta love the pure white looking combs. Those are amazing. ... I'm a bit curious are you in some kind of woodland area? I see a lot of trees in your background. And wonder if it helps your survival rates to have them in some place like that. ... Heard you say about 10 gallons expected... that's not bad. 80 pounds of honey. That's a lot of work.
When you put the fume board on, leave a corner cracked. Per the instructions it will work significantly better. Used to "seal" the fume board, but as soon as you start leaving a crack, you'll get much better evacuation of bees.
Impressive editing skills! I love all the videos you throw in. Looks like a good harvest! I set my honey extraction setup like a Dexter kill room and cover everything with plastic! I am planning on pulling more this weekend or sometime next week so hope to have a second video of that harvest up when I do. Thanks for sharing!
The star trek reference was fun. Hopefully others will appreciate it too. And your videos and innovation in doing things different from other people is fun too. Is the Star Trek stuff supposed to be your ASMR? LOL.
That's not too bad of a harvest, especially considering this crazy season. I'll be doing mine in a couple days but it's already a very humid 83°F at 0530am here this morning in the Missouri Ozarks and at 104°-106°F actual temp days we've been having this week, the comb would just collapse if I tried to get in there now.
I ALWAYS PUT A old camper rug doubled up with political signs on top to keep honey from going on floor. Works well with my small operation. Got 340 lb in pint jars first of season then had robbing and lost 10 hives.
I'm in the Southwest US. I'm worried that the honey I get is very thick and if people can still be interested in it and hoped for advice on this. When I see people back east and most other places your honey looks almost like water to us, very runny. It feels very different seeing it. How do you suggest dealing with really thick honey?
@@BugFarmerBees Oh. I didn't realize people could be looking for it thick haha. I always thought when you guys or people like Barnyard Bees are pouring it like water it just looked very pretty like that thin. Thank you for the reply.
Thanks a bunch. It's always nice to hear someone likes my videos. It's a lot of work putting them together each week and folks like you make it worth while. Thank you.
My wife purchased me one of rjdynamics pocket refractometer for Christmas. I was trying to use to measure the water content in the honey. The meter was saying out of range. I am thinking she got the wrong one. She did get the 10% off with the code at was on your RUclips page. Can you help.
All I can advise is to make sure the device is fully charged and that you have installed the app on your phone and select honey in the app menu. After that make sure the lens is completely covered with honey and hit the start button to test. That is all I do and it works every time. If it keeps failing I would return it.

@@BugFarmerBees Ah yes, the same to you my friend. It will be Ribs today!! Hope you caught the new video??!! Enjoy the day!!

That sounds like a great idea. I was wondering how I was going to harvest the 10 frame hives at the other bee yard. Now I know. Thank you.

It is an oddball season isn't it. I was out at the other bee yard yesterday and today and I have a few hives there with full supers :-)
Good luck with the heat, spent 4 hrs in bee suit yesterday here in Florida. 81 degrees at dawn 105 feels like temp at noon.
I just went over to the Bee Castle bee yard and mowed around the hives. When I was finished I was soaked from head to toe. Temps for us today in the upper 90's
Immediate thumbs up for the ST:TOS scenes!
Thanks. They are still playing the original on Pluto TV :-)

It sure is a nice cup :-)

Do you have a link so I can check it out?
I’ve never used it but I’ve seen many on RUclips that have and direct sunlight helps heat up the board.
Ahh.... That makes sense. Overall, it worked. I will be using it again.
@@BugFarmerBees i have the solar board and use the same stuff. I never have a problem getting them to move down. It smells like almonds to me. LoL
Not as bad as you thought. 230+ is a decent haul. I'll be harvesting soon.
The Bee Castle yard has some full supers too. I may get another bucket :-)

Thanks for the tip. I will do leave a crack next time.

I think I will be changing things around next year. I have a huge bottleneck in the uncapping.

ASMR --sticky gloves :-)

Stay hydrated. Don't have heat stroke while pulling honey
I cannot believe your wife didn’t insist on you laying down plastic on top of her rug.

It was an issue. Now i have a sticky rug. I will be taking it to the back deck and hitting it with the pressure washer :-)
Any video that starts with Star Trek original series is fine with me!
I have some of this years harvest for you. :-)
@@BugFarmerBees thanks!

Still interested in it??? Thick honey is what we are all shooting for. The lower the moisture content the better as far as I am concerned.
@@BugFarmerBees Oh. I didn't realize people could be looking for it thick haha. I always thought when you guys or people like Barnyard Bees are pouring it like water it just looked very pretty like that thin. Thank you for the reply.
Going to get mine out this weekend I'm hoping for atleast 30 to 35 gallon or more. Congrats on your harvest hopefully we will have a good fall flow.
Let me know how it turns out.
@@BugFarmerBees will be glad to. Just have to see how the heat goes here if i harvest it this weekend. Heat index up to 114 ain't good.
Great video! I use a turkey feather (picked up from another Utuber, but don't remember who?) instead of a bee brush. The bees don't get as upset.
I have heard that before too. I wonder if chicken feathers would work? I have a few chickens that I could sneak up on and snatch a couple :-)
You did get more honey than I thought you would! Love watching :) have a great 4th of July !! Thanks for sharing
I went to the Bee Castle yard today and several of the hives had full supers. I may get a little more honey :-)
Thanks you for the video, enjoyed it as usual. Thumbs up as always.
Thanks Mike.
Joe may said he uses a goose father instead of a brush because it does not tick off the beest as bad. I have tryed it and seems to be true
but then we would never have the opportunity to use the bee aggravator. :-)
Hey buddy , really like the Star Trek edits , I'm a big fan, lol , I watch every episode more times than I can remember . Great video.
Kirk, Spock and McCoy. The best!
Thanks a bunch. It's always nice to hear someone likes my videos. It's a lot of work putting them together each week and folks like you make it worth while. Thank you.
Best intro ever!!!
Thanks.
I'm in texas and my wife and I have vented bee suits and inspect in swim suits under them. I'd say ditch the shirt all together in the heat.
:-). I must say the vented jacket makes a huge difference.
That is awesome buddy. I am hoping to get some honey this year. I enjoyed the video very much. Hope you have a great 4th of July my friend.
Thanks Mark. It sure would be nice to have the 4th in your area. I'll bet it won't be nearly as hot. What a beautiful place to be a bee. :-)

I don’t believe you put enough fumes on the board.
Thanks. I will add more next time. This was my first time using the fume board.
6:50 they move so fast I bet less 🐝 die.
When we speed up the video the harvest get finished quicker :-)

Thanks for stopping in to have a look.
