Can you plant Spring Lily bulbs before the last frost?

My experience is that spring and fall both work. I amend with bagged soil or compost if sandy or clay soil is what the yard is. (Sandy now, but I had clay before. I had good success with both once better soil is mixed in.) But yeah. My experience is with Asiatics and Orientals. I plant them whenever I buy them whether spring or fall. If they seem smallish or not in that great of health when I buy them, I try to baby them a bit throughout that first year or two. Often will lift in the fall, inspect them to see that the bulb is looking healthier, and replant with more compost and bloodmeal. Also, when the clump gets looking crowded, you can dig, divide, and do the amend and replant process again to get more of them. I am just doing "lily trees" or "orienpets" for the first time but I imagine the process is roughly the same.
So, all of those words just to say "spring and fall both work." 😂 But don't cut it too close to the frost. Plant at least three weeks before the frost so the bulbs have time to acclimate, put down roots, and get ready for their winter sleep.
