  • Jim sits down for another fireside chat to discuss condensate lines, HVAC filters & 24/7 monitoring.
Jim urges you to pay close attention to the type of filter media you use, the velocity of air going through the filter, and the presence of any air bypasses. He recommends doubling the number of filters needed and using a high-quality filter media. This will help to ensure that all particulates are trapped before they reach the evaporator coil and become a food source for biological growth.
Bergmann also stresses the importance of monitoring air conditioning systems. He argues that by doing so, you can identify and fix problems before they cause a breakdown. He specifically recommends the Smart AC system, which is easy to install and can detect the most common problems on an AC system.
Bergmann concludes by saying that if you are not deploying tools like SmartAC.com, you are missing the boat. He argues that these tools can help you to improve your customer service and level out the seasonality of your business.
In summary, here are Jim Bergmann's key takeaways:
    - Good filtering is essential to preventing condensate drain clogs.
    - Pay attention to the type of filter media you use, the velocity of air going through the filter, and the presence of any air bypasses.
    - Consider doubling the number of filters needed and using a high-quality filter media.
    - Monitor your air conditioning systems to identify and fix problems before they cause a breakdown.
    - Use a tool like SmartAC.com to make monitoring easier and more effective.

I see that sensi is shutting down their system the end of the year. I thought it was a really sharp device. I for one regret their actions.
A few years ago, you did a video, taunting, the benefits of Sensi Predict . What made you change your mind?

I never have, it’s a cool product. Sensi ran out of inventory during the pandemic so we slowed promotion of it. Then Emerson was sold to Blackstone and plans changed for the product is my best guess. A lot of technology also ended up up their circuit boards they manufacture for equipment manufacturers I have seen too.

Are the Fieldpiece analyzers ANSI compliant? Or still not?
