Why hinge a headlamp bezel? Weld the bracket in. Screw in the bulb assembly. Fit a trim ring. How does someone of Tim’s obvious resources end up in this shop?
I believe this is Tim Allen's meta-joke. Something like Andy Kaufman would do. This build and video series can't be real. It's got to be a joke on us for watching.
Bodie, if you used a hinge like the gas lid on an older GM OSB truck they have an ark. They have a radius or ark built in. But you know it has to be made. Weld a base with a single rod bent in a radius to another flat bar behind the headlamp ring.
As a handyman with more than 40 years under my belt, I can assure you that most of my jobs are trying to fix and make things work that haven't worked or been fixed in many years, and in a lot of those cases, I'm cleaning up after someone who came before me and screwed it up. I cuss all the way through some of the worst jobs (when the customer(s) aren't present), but still love my job more than you could possible imagine. That feeling of satisfaction you get when it all comes together, and the gratefulness of another satisfied customer is priceless. I've never had to advertise, not even in the phone book. So as a person who sometimes sounds "disgruntled", I can tell you that things are not always as they seem.
I'm done with this series. The last couple episodes were painful to watch, and I only made it about 2 minutes into this one before I quit. It feels like I'm watching season 15 of Oak Island or something (I quit that after season 4). Hopefully it'll end up on Leno's show so I can see the finished product.
I feel sorry for Tim because I bet Bodie is getting paid by the hour. He’s slow enough on his own but I think he’s getting dragged down even more by the cinematography.
Is the time spent bitching and moaning considered “billable hours”? Never heard a builder complain as much as this guy about every single little thing he has to do.
It’s called “fabrication”. We can armchair quarterback all we want but we aren’t there. Bodie is a good fabricator and he has to do it all himself because the younger crowd doesn’t want to do this kind of work. Car guys go to him for a reason.
Cameragirl: PLEASE learn how to use manual focus and PLEASE shut the aperture down a stop or two. If the important things are never in focus, you can't really brag about your shallow depth of field. I can't believe you haven't figured that out over the course of a couple hundred videos.
Tim's car will be worth more when it's done because it will be 10 years older when this project started.
Seeing the intricate details involved in reassembling Vik is both educational and amazing to watch. Thanks for sharing Vik's journey!
suggestion for Bodie look at a fuel door hinge on some older trucks for ideas

Would it not have been easier to use shims to pack it out less heat and pissing around
I heard about this technique... It's called Mickey Mouse.
I think the charge port is going to end up somewhere else.
How long has this torture been going on ?
Make it bolt in with an adjustable slide for depth on both sides.
Need a hinge like the truck hinge. Arch that’s tied closer to the middle of the light housing
Couldn't be on a rail that it pulls out so far then opens on a hinge, there are about 100 different ways
🤗PROGRESS 👍 Tig is much easier to control the heat👍💚💚💚
Is this a flash back, the primer on the fender surely isn't new?
I didn’t realize the fenders weren’t completed when they painted the body, or when the car was gone for most of a year.
Exactly. Looks like absolutely nothing got done while the chassis was out.
@@CommonSense823 well you do have common sense!
For i am here My Captain 🥷🪫🔋

Looking great yall
Ever heard of the saying "Square peg in a round hole"? Square hinge round bezel? Hummmmmm
Eleven minutes of a disgruntled employee. I'm out Tim. Send that car to someone that enjoys fixing problems like Jay Leno

So is this video part of a historical timeline for Allen's builder's career from start to retirement?
I hope Tim lives to see this debacle completed....
A "C" hinge would fix that..
Note to self: Don’t modify my 38 ford station wagon. Just run it on Woodward as it is. And stick to remodeling old houses in Gross Point
Maybe move hinge point/latch point vertical if stressing metal too much that way
Good to see Bodie is back. I couldn’t relate to those Visio Nerds
Lol
I'm wondering if spot welding might've been the way to go here.
Thanks Bodie it looking very good 😊
Couldn't you put a wider swing on the hinge, so it would swing out wider away from the fender?
How long has this been going on? Seems like years and years.
So much whining and snivelling in the comment section, you would think they were paying for it !

I can't watch this supposed professional builder
He is like watching paint dry
His work does not suck but his attitude does. Once again, if you hate the job GTFO. The world needs basket weavers.
Imagine being this stumped by a little hinge.
Hey Bode ...
are you using CO2 on your MIG?
TriMix will help stop spatter, even with low heat...
Will Bodie finish it?

Time stamp 2:19 has nothing to do with the VIC!

This is exactly the comment I scrolled down here looking for. If I had an attitude like that I highly doubt I would still be employed by my employer.

Why is Bodie such a crybaby? He's an excellent fabricator but whines way too much.
LoL
