Best thing I ever did for the rear end of my jeep and an e locker up in the front, what a great combo.

Couple comments say you have to "rebuild" these units every 30k, which is not true at all. The Torsen LSD in my truck was finally giving out at 300k and had been whining/not functioning properly for about the last 50k. Sure, that's a good deal of hard driven miles but, even the Torsens will eventually wear out.
So I had one of these installed and it's working great! Truck is putting down a little over 800ft/lbs of torque and this unit handles it no problem. The truck will easily see another 300k with this unit.
The cost of rebuilding one of these vs completely replacing a Torsen is much more reasonable in the long run. And if you plan to run your truck as long as I do mine, go with one of these.

I just unboxed mine. it came with a disclaimer saying not to use synthetic oil. It says to use mineral based oil and to add a friction modifier. gonna do more research

Is this the differential used in the Chevy Colorado? Is it suitable for off road use as well?

I purchased one of these about 6 months ago. I’ve been into off-roading since the early 60’s and have had virtually every brand of locker, selectable locker and LS/posi. This unit sucked! Compared to the old Spicer Thornton LS it was useless! It didn’t work as good as an old Trac Loc, which up to this time I thought was the worst unit on the market. Maybe good for the street but not off road. I put an Auburn unit in which was not my first choice, but compared to the Eaton unit it’s many times better off road. This guy needs to test this unit off road as I have run into many other people with the same complaint.

Get an LSD that doesn't use clutchplates. With clutchplates you'll need to disassemble and rebuild your LSD at least every 30,000mi. A mechanical LSD, like the Torsen, is entirely maintenance-free.

"The superior option among the clutchplate style ..." which is moot since MECHANICAL LSDs like the Torsen are in every way superior to a clutchplate LSD which'll need to be dissasembled and rebuilt at least every 30,000mi, mechanical LSDs are maintenance-free.
