- The family of a homeless man who had been arrested several times in the past year says he was the victim of police brutality when an officer stopped short, forcing the arrestee to hit his head, break his neck and eventually lose his legs.

It shouldn't matter if they are homeless or have a record. Human cruelty is illegal regardless and there are MANY victims of this crime, of people being arrested, and tossed around in the back of a van and complaints are never heard in Pinellas trust that !
If there is a dash cam on this vehicle, the footage could bring some charges against this policeman. It makes no sense to transport someone without restraints. He should be placed at the front and seat belted in. If a passenger in "your" car is unbelted, doesn't the driver get a ticket?
I was also wondering why he was not in a seatbelt. In a police cruiser they seatbelt them in.

Even I myself was being transported in a police van with a messed up hip after a motorcycle accident and it was the same way. Luckily I’m very strong and with my fingers I just gripped the grate over the window with everything I had to keep myself from being thrown around. And used the one good leg I had that day to try and plant myself. Yall seriously need to stop and chill for real. This video actually hit home for me since I’ve experienced something similar.
And it was all because somebody cut me off and my license was suspended. That doesn’t make me an animal.

There’s many reasons a person ends up homeless, often they refuse family’s help. Sometimes, and I’m sure if you’re an adult you’re aware, people have to hit rock bottom and experience life on their own terms no matter how much family tries to intervene. Why speak negatively on this man’s family, making judgements when none of us know his/their story? I don’t know this man, don’t know you either, but apparently you and your entire family must be perfect, not one person has ever gone left. That’s amazing!
Many homeless individuals don’t want to follow rules in shelters ( maybe relative’s home) and prefer the streets. Like mental illness. There are many scenarios.

He then started to throw himself around in the transport van and wound up completely tearing his neck up. This was proven by the medical examiners, both public and private, that had examined him. Funny how no one brought any of those facts up and the fact that Marilyn Mosby, the corrupt prosecutor who brought a whole load of garbage charges against the officers, completely blew it also. That is why there were really no convictions.

When we rode in the back of pickups in the 70's my dad made us sit on the floor of the bed, with our backs to the cab, WHY? In case he had to slam on the brakes, we would not go flying towards the back of the cab!
The officer should be required to inform the person that the safest place is as far forward as possible, unless there is video out the front showing clear roads and a patently obvious BRAKE CHECK I don't know that was intentional... My dog went flying one time when I had to slam on the brakes and it was mind boggling how quickly that 80lbs launched forward 3 feet, I thought FOR SURE SHE WAS INJURED. Afterwards I would run the safety belt through her harness. MUCH safer.

I would estimate from my experiences with law enforcement officers that about 50% are able to keep and maintain a fairly level head on the job. do you geniuses not understand common sense?a lot of things can go wrong. he already had a hernia and then suffered a bad fall, more of a blunt injury as he couldnt stop himself falling, being drunk and handcuffed. so now this person is paralyzed, but also could have serious circulatory damage - even an underlying illness like a virus, meningitis etc- the news didnt mention- requiring amputation. there's all sorts of things going wrong with people not getting adequate health or self-care, that are then exacerbated by injuries sustained at the ehands of those who prey on the weak.

That depends on the crime. For example murder and being homeless are absolutely not the same. Also a thing called seatbelts.

I see what you mean. But why should being arrested end with you being paralyzed? Both parties are at fault, but under the officers care he should’ve been keep safe.
Homeless is not a disease it is a choice. If they break any law off to jail maybe thay will try to do better. All the tax dollars pored in to them and still thay CHOOSE to continue that life stile. Do you wonder where thay get there money for drugs and beer.
What about conditions that lead to homelessness, disabilities mental or physical, kinda the same thing? What about homeless veterans would you do this to them too? 🤔
