I was wondering when you’d do a video on this! I have a Glowforge laser and now want a bigger and faster machine. Are you going to do some tutorials about making cut files?
How funny! Been following you for years and I have no idea why you’re Instagram feed isn’t showing up for me, but I’m considering getting a laser cutter for quite a long time. I had originally thought of a glow orge, but I’ve heard some iffy things about their support And a few other things and was leaning towards something similar to us! Thank you so much. This was really helpful and having you recommended is enormous in my book!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍
Hi Teela! Awesome video. I really enjoyed this one. I have wanted a laser for years but am concerned about the ventilation because I have parrots. Do you think that this would be safe to use if you have birds and it is ventilated in a separate room upstairs in the house? It’s a room they never go in but their bedroom is upstairs. Also, do all lasers take SVG’s? I sell digital sublimation files and wanted to create files for laser cutters but wasn’t sure of the correct format.
I'm not an expert, but from my experience, I would think it's fine as long as you're using compatible materials and have it well ventilated. I only buy my materials from xTool's site because I know they're safe (and they often run deals), with the exception of a few hobby lobby items (acacia wood + canvas which I also knew were safe). The inline fan makes a massive difference, so I would be sure to use that and ventilate through a window. We also have an air purifier in the office and it never works hard to clean the air (works harder in the kitchen when I'm cooking!). We've never noticed any smell carrying out beyond the room it's in, if that gives you any extra assurance! I believe svgs are compatible with most/all lasers!
I bought a less expensive laser cutter and wish I had just waited and saved for this. I'm afraid to use the current one because it's not inside a box and open so I'm nervous about using it.
To use xTool's software? No, it's free. There's another software called Lightburn that universally works with all lasers that some people prefer and that one is paid.
Always wondered about these but having to vent it is a deal breaker. I’m in a first floor condo and no way will I be able to do this. I already had to stop using a portable oven because the smoke alarm is so sensitive. The heat press is the only thing I can use. Great video though!

Impressive Teela enjoying the process. Wish it was feasible to use with my personal situation. Cool seeing new creative potential!
Thanks, friend! Appreciate you checking it out! :)

That would make me nervous, too - you'll def want to wear eye protection and keep an eye on it when using... or resell + upgrade?
Does this require a monthly subscription? I read in reviews from a store site the subscription cost $40 a month.

Totally get that! They have a smoke purifier when an ideal venting option is scarce: every-tuesday.com/xtool-purifier Thanks for checking the vid out!
