- Ranking the Best LEGENDARY WEAPONS in Baldur's Gate 3 on a Tier List! I want to touch on these, since I use them in a lot of my different build guides that I post here. Some of the legendary weapons in this game are extremely powerful and some of them aren't as good as some other options that we have in the game. The best weapons in the game are the legendary weapons But even a common weapon can be very powerful. Depends how you use the weapons in your build! Some like the Markoheshkir are just extremely powerful and can make any casting class good. Let me know your thoughts!

The weapon given by Divine Intervention is so damn disappointing for a "once in a playthrough" thing💀 makes me want to use that feature only for healing tbh
I always use the divine intervention attack during the Viconia fight, but the revive could be crucial in honor mode.
The blood of lathander is just better in most uses I find! Or even using the defender's flail
@@JasonDunna I think this mace is at least A tier, because if you combine with Hellrider's Pride / The Reviving Hands and The Whispering Promise, it's Bless and Blade Ward for everyone during 11 turns ! I usually pick three characters to use divine intervention, only to get 3 Devotee's Mace and after a combat i switch to use the Healing Incense Aura again, without needing to long rest too often. Clerics don't use strength, so attacking with this weapon will not be your main choice anyway. I think in honour mode, people focuses too much on damage, but there's a lot of tank and support builds that make your run much safer than going full damage and failing due to bad luck.
Just respect your class and you get another cast of Divine Intervention.
It's not really once a playthrough it's just it costs 100 gold if you want to use it again
It has better damage than lathander
Duelist's Prerogative in F is mad. The benefits over Belm are plenty, and all the benefits stack with feats and abilities you'd take as a duelist anyway.
I’ll have to use it some more, it just feels like a big trade off when some other legendary weapons have big benefits with less downsides
The no shield requirement is the big flaw for me. Giving up 2 AC for an extra reaction is not worth imo
@@SsjRedneck depends on the class, as a straight up front liner then no.
What kind of build can make it shine? I just have never found a use for it and kinda agree with it being in F tier.
@@MrYourDry I had a pure rogue build (I rarely multiclass) who ran up, disengaged with the cloak to create a smoke bomb, was immune to blindness himself because of a ring, sneak attacked with it for huge damage and then and the additional attack. Anyone trying to deal with him in the cloud was disadvantaged so he was pretty much unhittable - allowed him to dodge tank and still deal good damage every round even as a pure rogue.
Deulist's Prerogative in F tier makes me sad man. I built a Tiefling Sword Bard around it and it is so insanely OP, especially if you are using the Band of the Mystic Scoundrel
I agree
My warlock with the bind weaoon was keeping up with my fighter with that sword

Nyrlruna S Tier. My Minsc uses it with tavern brawler and throws it at enemies. Took down Cazador in 2 turns by himself
Oh man the thunder explosion is awesome! Only reason I didn’t put it in S tier is because you have to run a throwing build to get the most out of it
Minsc as a thrower is awesome. I love that every character has dialogue for throwing Boo
@@JasonDunna dude it's hilarious. I accidentally did knock out astarion with the thunder explosion though.....🫠. Still S Tier in my opinion
@@MulderHiggins first time I used Nyrlruna it was at the wine party for the solve the murder chain and I killed all the NPCs because I wasn't thinking about the AOE
Hahahah it happens to the best of us
That is certainly one way to solve a murder.. hahaha
Would throw the devotees mace in b tier since the healing incense is a lot more powerful than it seems on the surface with some cleric builds. There are 3 items in the game that make your heals also give bless, blade ward, and 3 temp hp. This is a very common item combo that's super strong. With this weapon you can perma buff your whole team for the entire fight without having to spend any actions or spell slots on healing. Makes it b / a tier in my book.
Yeah I guess that’s a good point, I usually use mass healing word every couple turns or the life cleric channel divinity to apply the bless & blade ward but that’s a solid application
For gontr mael don't forget arrow of many targets, which will spread guiding bolt to everybody
Yesss so true. That’s crazy strong for setting up martials/rogues
The disadvantage that BG3 has over the original games is the chapter layout. In BG2, aside from the intro, you can feasibly collect many decently powerful items before spellhold. In BG3 it's all locked behind chapter progression and that spoils it a bit for me.
Yeah that’s a good point. Although there’s some really great gear in act 1 for reverberation and radiating orb builds
I would like to suggest putting the items stats on the screen, its hard to follow on the numbers by hearing only.
I honestly think the devotee's mace is fantastic, especially on a radiating orb build. The healing is also nice if you run it on someone with Hellrider's pride and Volo's ring. The extra 1d8 radiant damage is also just great even if you're not cheesing fights with radiating orbs. Plus you can get it just by turning a companion into a cleric and getting them to level 10 in case you don't want your actual designated cleric to use up divine intervention on it
As for duellist's, well... this might be quite the stretch but the weapon itself is pretty good and the whole no off-hand thingy doesn't matter too much if the character/class you're playing happens to be unable to use a shield(highly unlikely, but it could happen). I'd say it at least deserves a C, but what do I know
I really think DP is getting underrated asf. It’s now my go to weapon because having guaranteed 3 attacks per turn even in HM is amazing. Incredibly powerful on paladins/warlocks. GWM can be good on it but ofc you’re missing out on the additional benefit since you always have that BA main hand attack.
Still, 11-21+4 3x a turn is gonna out damage giant slayer and similar main hand weapons, plus with GWM now it’s 21-31+4 (up to 3 times)
@@kingofgrim4761 oh believe me when I say I absolutely love and adore DP. It's got a lot of neat effects and it looks super sick. I just haven't used it nearly enough to formulate a proper argument in its favor
@@e-duh3529 fair enough, sort by newest I just made a longer more detailed comment, genuinely want to ban it in my playthroughs due to how busted it can be😅
That’s a good point about respeccing to take it, and yeah it would go pretty hard on a radorb build! I always found the blood of lathander to provide a bit more benefit in my playthroughs and then switching to the defenders flail if I need to AC boost but I also use mass healing word every second turn to apply bless/blade ward. Thanks for the comment this is insightful!
On a Rad Orb build I'd probably go Blood of Lathander and Morningstar
Nyrulna is S tier, even for non-throwing builds you just have to remind yourself to throw it, just make sure the person wielding it has decent strength. Not to mention not to mention you get Zephyr Flash & Zephyr Break, interesting history behind it too, especially in Chult. Overall it has more versatility than other picks in A tier.
Yeah I could put it in S tier I do love it. The damage on your team is annoying at times and you get most of the benefit from a throwing build so I ranked it a bit lower
Duellist's Prerogative + mage slayer feat + battlemaster riposte = profit
There’s an interesting combination!
For Markoheskir you can also pass it around and all party members can use arcane battery per long rest so if you have clerics using their highest spell slots to cast aid and hero's feast every long rest you can get a free use with Markoheskir. And if you dual wield your caster with the staff of spellpower from the house of hope, that is another arcane battery to get 2 of your highest level spells for free.
So true! Up casted aid and heroes feast for the win
Duelist’s Prerogative kind of negates not having a second weapon for dual-wielders, since it gives you a bonus action attack with itself anyway.
That’s true, I just posted a build using it!
The build with Nyrulna that i've used is Tempest domain Cleric, combine it with Hat that gives you Arcane Acuity, and it was awesome. Tempest Cleric can knock enemy away whenever they deal Thunder Damage so it's a decent way to shove them from the character and when enemy is far enough, you can also throw it for a good damage. And with those Arcane Aquity, you can hold person, by getting the ring that allows you to cast illusion spell as a bonus action, and it's a great damage and support. Definitely not the strongest build, but it was awesome.
Nyrulna with the Bhaalist armor set in Act 3...chef's kiss.
Piercing vulnerability go brrrrrrr
Phalur Aluve was perfect for my Bard. At least rp wise
@@Awesomewithaz it’s one of the best weapons in the game!!
Honestly can’t believe that I didn’t ever obtain Markoheskir until my 4th playthrough. I was playing as a Oathbreaker Paladin/Draconic Sorcerer, and that staff helped out so much in the Cazador bossfight because I twin casted chain lightning while Cazador was wet and managed to do 115+ damage to him.
I had my character use the Flail of the Ages in her main hand and Markoheskir in her offhand.
Paladin Sorcerer is so sick, I love sorcadin!
Chain lightning from the bolt of doom is always a banger. I like the flail of the ages because it can add cold damage
The Devotees Mace is actually the Devotee's Censer a rare magic item they just added a +3 to so no wonder it feels disappointing because it is a normal dnd item of 2 rarities below Legendary.
That makes total sense, it’s just a bit outclassed by other weapons - especially blood of lathander
I'd say this tier list is pretty accurate and a very good starting point for first time/new players, where plug and play is the most important factor. But I will say that once a player gets experienced enough or needs a tier list for Honor mode or a modded higher difficulty mode, I would re-evaluate this list.
There are a LOT of factors to account for, for example item synergy is extremely important for higher difficulty playthroughs. Not to mention gameplay and story variations, where certain equipment is just not available due to earlier decisions or RP decisions players do NOT want to make. For example, in Act 3 you may choose to do a definitely evil act. Should you do the evil act, you get one of the strongest armors in the entire game. Or Shar's Spear of Evening is probably the strongest weapon in the game due to it's insane defensive and offensive properties, but I will never get it due to my preferred RP playstyle. Some people, myself included, just don't like to or want to do evil acts.
So for those looking for an tactician or Honor mode (or Trials of Tav roguelike mod) tier list, my personal tier list would be:
S-Shar's Spear of Evening, Markoheskir
A-Nyrulna, Balduran's Giantslayer, Gloves of Soul Catching (not technically a weapon, but if you know, you know)
B-Bloodthirst, Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, Duellist's Perrogative
C-Gontr Mael, Blood of Lathander
D-Devotee's Mace
F-Selune's spear of Night
For a strictly Good playthrough:
S-Markoheskir, Balduran's Giantslayer
A-Gloves of Soul Catching, Silver Sword of the Astral Plane
B-Bloodthirst, Nyrulna, Crimson Mischief
C- Gontr Mael, Duellist's Perrogative, Blood of Lathander,
D-Devotee Mace
F- Selune's Spear of Night
You can disguise self as Githyanki and the weapon still works
I love that you can do that, Mask of the shapeshifter comes in clutch
I’m gonna give my 2 cents her and say Duellist’s Prerogative in Astarion or just another Rogue’s hand puts it in at least B tier.
It gives your rogue an extra attack, and combine it with a sneak attack has taken out a good deal of enemies out in one turn for me.
Yeah that’s totally fair. I personally use a different weapon with the Belm offhand for the extra attack but the duelist’s prerogative is not bad. I just had to rank it against the others which are also really good
Black Hole + Nyrulna is a hilarious "easy mode" button on a TB thrower.
Agreed! Black hole is so strong for a number of reasons but Nyrulna reverberation goes hard
Stupid question, but what’s a TB thrower?
@@elnumbrotres tavern brawler feat! It adds your strength modifier TWICE to attack and damage rolls, meaning you pretty much never miss with throws / unarmed attack and deal a ton of damage

@@JasonDunna lol. Idk how I didn’t put the acronym together. Yeah, I know lol
Personally, everything in S tier and A tier are amazing
I used the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane on my human Tav my first playthrough and loved it, even though it is way better used by a Githyanki
@@JasonDunna It is a must have. I am in the beginnings of my Honor Mode run and hope I can get it to drop.
Best of luck sir!! It’s a tough fight
the best part of the giant growth thing of balduran's giantslayer is that it does stack with elixir of the colossus
Yesss true that. Double big
Blood of Lathander does scale well into Act 3, when coupled with gear that applies radiant orb. The holy light from BoL will also trigger the application of Radiant Orb with suitable gear. Even against regular opponents (not Undead/Fiends) you can simply move around the battlefield applying radiant orb which reduces enemy chance to hit. It also helps strongly against Raphael and Ansur as it's capable of blinding both of them, along with reducing their chance to hit. For this reason alone I found it difficult to justify using a different weapon on Shadowheart purely because she reduced the difficulty of fights without even considering anything else she's doing.
One of the cool things about Voss' sword too is if you disguise as Gith you can benefit from it's extra damage. Pairing that with half orc stuff and resonance stone makes honor mode a cake walk. Getting it and helldusk in act 1 should be illegal. Have you checked out Shar's spear of evening at all? I think you'd also give it an S
Yeah that’s true! Disguise self from the helmet is so useful. And getting helldusk in act 1 is a glitch so most won’t use that trick hahaha
Shard spear of evening is S tier I’ve started using it more on an evil playthroughs and the at will darkness is busted
I know it's not legendary, but I've been loving the surssur dager for Astarion in the off- hand for Act 1.
In BG1, I've found magic bows to be the S tier magic weapons. BG2 seems to nerf the archer, so melee weapons are the best in that one.
The sussur dagger is awesome with its silence on hit!
Yeah in BG3 it seems to be (lightning & cold>) magic > bows > melee
I disagree. BG2 has an abundance of amazing shortbows and crossbows. Longbows suck but that's about it. The main problem isn't the weapons themselves however but how common protection from missiles/magical weapons is
True that immunities are how bows are nerfed.
i think shars evening spear can be really strong and almost game breaking if you decide to build your entire party around darkness since it gives blindness immunity, advantage on ALL saving throws, 1d6 on any weapon attack aswell as infinite casts of darkness. if your not doing a darkness build the weapon is really bad since it locks you of buying from dammon in act 3.
Yeah the opportunity cost is high. It’s really powerful with all the darkness you can cast, especially if your party is built around it
The dualist prerogative is interesting on a Lore Bard with Counterspell and illithid reaction abilities. But I think it's super niche and there are still a couple of light weapons that can raise casting modifier and AC so there's a steep opportunity cost to use it.
Double counterspell is awesome but you’re right the opportunity cost is way too high I think. A shield or second weapon just works so well
If you build a whole character around duelist prerogative with swords bard, defensive dueling feat, and duelling fighting style its one of the strongest weapons in the game with two counterspells per turn cause bard is a full caster and a bonus action attack. Same with devotees mace on a life cleric with all the buff on heal gear and reverbrating orb gear, you can give your team full bless and blade ward and dual wield them to get increase benefit from the luminous chestplate and corruscation ring reducing enemy attack rolls by 4 per action or bonus action leaving the other available to heal/cast. These are really strong items but they do require hyper-specific builds so i do understand their placement.
Yeah I need to play around more with the duellists prerogative. Double the counter spell is awesome, but that can also apply to cutting words if you go lore bard.
I’m a big fan of radiating orb / reverberation though!
Lately I've been obessed with staffs 😂😂😂 and making everyone a dual weilding monk for the sound affects, feels like mortal kombat during battles 😈 my favs off that list are orins blade and the mace just cuz they are pretty 🥹🤣
Markoheskir dual wielded with the Staff of Spellpower. Whats better than 1 free chain lightning? 2!
Orins blades are so good on a dex character! Its hard to decide which one is better on main hand / off hand. Im posting a Rogue/Fighter build tonight that utilizes them well!
@JasonDunna I will has to watch that ☺️ cuz tbh I just wing it through all 11 playthroughs just wing it. I'm not the best at details in the game, nor familiar with dnd but the more i play the more lore i read, and try to understand the technical stuff - cuz its really fun. Back in my younger yrs friends I knew never let me join in dnd stuff - they said I was too much of a thug for nerd things 🥹🤣🤣
Hahahahah I can relate to the too thug for nerd stuff 😂 I posted the video up, it’s pretty straight forward but I show a bit of combat at the end. Battle master fighter can get advantage easy for sneak attacks! Lots of fun
Also, you’re on 11 playthroughs?? Im impressed
@JasonDunna tbh if I would've had a pc or some sorta gaming outlet like there is now, I probably wouldn't have been a delinquent in my late teens and 20s 👀👀. It's a culture shock for most ppl I meet online gaming as I do not fit the complete mold. When I get mad at a game u can hear the clapping and finger snaps through the mic 🤣🤣🙃 my best friends find it hilarious
@JasonDunna and 11 play throughs since release. I never enjoyed a rpg as much as I do bg3. I find new situations, areas, and conversations every play through. It's hard to replicate playthroughs every time you play. Larian out did themselves. Also I'm home 80% of the time due to a life changing injury, which is ok cuz since then I've been able to do what I enjoy and be happy 🥰☺️🤗
The legendary Rapier is fantastic on a blade dancer build 6 fighter 5bard 1 war cleric
Deulist's Prerogative is definitely a roleplay tier weapon, I want to try it out on a full Pact of Blade Warlock on a race that isn't proficient with shields, basically to give myself an excuse to use it haha
Yeah I agree, it’s not terrible but of the legendary weapons it’s sacrificing too much
Personally it’s been arguably my favorite weapon and a weapon I always will get in my playthroughs. Especially powerful on HM, since it’s one of the only ways to have 3 attacks per turn on non fighters. More reactions, higher damage than other weapons, and consistency other weapons dream of.
I personally prefer it to Balduran’s giant slayer on some builds. Especially blade warlock/paladins.
@@kingofgrim4761 This guy gets it. Adding a second reaction that you can use as bonus damage is just icing on the cake when you're in control of a situation. Double counterspell, counterspell + cutting words, this weapon makes bard an utter menace. I find myself using my bonus action and reaction for extra attack and damage respectively after locking down everything via hold spells in round one. Underappreciated weapon. That said, it's annoying to get.
@@erichamler6283 thanks I went into more depth too in my own comment. I like to use it on paladins most, but yeah it’s just got so much upside.
It's the perfect lore bard weapon. Getting two reactions with cutting words and counterspell gives you SOOOO much battlefield control that it's silly. I was able to counterspell Raphael and Viconia into the dirt on my most recent Honour run.
It also lets you weaponize your bonus action so you can still get two attacks as a lore bard.
Thinking about "sentinel" and opportunity attacks is so uncreative.
This is the ultimate "blue mage" weapon, for those of you who get the Magic: The Gathering reference
Markoheshkir Chain lightning can still be twincasted btw! With 9 sorc 3 tempest cleric, you can quickened spell a create water and then max dmg twincast nuke for an instant "FUCK EVERYTHING ALIVE" button
Ohhhh yes. I love the max damage from tempest cleric it’s so powerful !
You make some great vids. I’d personally like to see what best multiclasses would be for the origin characters. One of the things I like to toy around with is that. Like making Astarion a Rogue/ranger/monk.
Hey thanks so much I appreciate that!
That’s a good idea I’ll put something together this week and let you know when it’s posted
I duel wielded the two healy maces on Shadowheart in my second run as stat sticks. In my third I did it on Minthara... She was still beating everything to death with ease. Shadowheart just used the staff that granted Mystra's Blessing for that run with a shield. Thought she did swap to the purple staff from the House of Hope for the additional lvl6 spell cast. I played a Durge wizard that run so she used the legendary for more extra lvl 6 spell cast shenanigans.
The free spell casts and Kereska's favor is fun. Storm sorcerer casting Chain Lightning twice in a turn and still having their level 6 spell slot is crazy!
@@JasonDunna I would generally be "lazy" and have a wizard (myself or Gale depending on the run) summon the Deva. Shadowheart would summon hers. Then she would use the feast spell after anyone else dropped their summons so that everyone's health was buffed. Then she would use the necklace to refund the spell slot so she and the wizard would still be able to drop a 6th level whatever during the next combat. Shadowheart would swap to the... I believe it was the necklace from Jahira's basement.
I gave my wizard dual wield in the durge run so I could use the legendary sword from act 3 with the dex gloves. Don't think I ever bothered to poke anything but it's the thought that counts. Sword and staff Gandalf style is always a fun look anyways.
I'm wielding both Maces as well! I'm running a Dual Wield Light Cleric of Lathandar/Champion Fighter right now, and it slaps. I'm mostly focused on crazy AOE Fire and Radiant damage and Radiating Orbs, so healing and self-drive functions between both Maces are perfect additions.
sadly not every weapon type has a legendary while others haver more than one. i just want a legendary axe.
The sethan greataxe is a pretty good axe! But you’re right. There needs to be more, I almost never used axes since they kinda sucked
I would've loved a Duelist subclass for Fighter or Rogue that revolves around fighting with a single weapon.
Sadly we only have a legendary weapon around this playstyle...
That’s a great idea, it would’ve worked with the duellists prerogative so well.
Mods will fix that
Nyrulna is should be tier s. As barbarian main, it deal damage same as fire ball (4 times trhow with thief subclass)
Yeah I change my mind it’s definitely S tier
Duellist Preogative is actualy completly broken with the correct build.
The extra necrotic damage from the reaction counts as sererapte attack so if u are using for example the helm of arcane actuity, gicing u 2 stacks of acane acuity u get 4 stacks from a single attack and since u can do the attack with ur bonus action u can still use a control spelllike Hold Person.
Now ad in the Ring of the Mystic scoundrel now can use ur actian instead of just the bonus action to attack and get 8 stacks arcane acuitly in the first turn and can still use an anchantment spell as bonus action and u have almost on any enemy 100% hit rate. i used this on Wyll as pact of blade warlock with postion of vigiliance and u get almost in every fight 4+ enemy in an Hold Person or confusion / Hypnituic pattern Spell bevor they can ever make a turrn
It is already possible to get rly high spellsave dc even without any other specfic equiment but with arcane acuity (up to 10 stacks )u can get 25+ realy easy wich means 100% hit rate on almost every enemy(even bosses with the correct control Spells).
I’ll have to give this a true. I’m a big fan of the arrow of many targets + helmet of arcane acuity + band of the mystic scoundrel on a bard 10 / Paladin 2 but this sounds very interesting as well.
The Belm does offer a bonus action attack too and pairs very well with the infernal rapier for Wyll so I recommend giving that a try sometime as well!
It's just 'Belm'
Duelist's Prerogative is the best weapon for smite build or other crit builds. There is nothing you can combine Belm with that will give you a higher damage output, if you want the increased crit chance.
You only get the benefits if you have no shield / offhand weapon, so that’s why I ranked it low! I prefer the balduran giantslayer for smites
The risky ring + crimson mischief extra 7 damage is also nice
I usually use the crit ring and illithid ability
there a bow in act 2 that also gives u haste and dmg resistances
Counterpoint duelists looks cool
Very true point
12:22 it blinds Cazador too
I'd actually put the bow in B tier.
Reason is simple.. It's not really better than The Dead Shot for bow builds.
Good buff to have for other builds.. But again Dead Shot is usually better to boost that crit rate.
Oh yeah Titanstring and Deadshot bows are better offensively but Celestial Haste is Incredible. Giving a non-caster a free haste with no lethargy afterwards is incredible! It works great on a fighter. The guiding bolt on attack is just icing on the cake but the haste is the big selling point
@@JasonDunna
Thing is.
Combat is usually over fast anyway.
Quite unusual to go more than 5 rounds.
Sure it's good on fighters and casters however nothing a haste potion or haste spell won't do anyway.
Into haste aside from potions is rarely worth it regardless because of how quick fights are.
Use your action which is 2 to 3 attacks to get 1 attack.
Something you either break even with in the second or 3rd round.
So you get the benefit when the fight is more or less over.
This isn't a critique to the item as much as it is to how bad regular non bonus action haste is though.
This was such a good tier list bro, keep it up 🙌
Ayyy thanks bro! Appreciate your support 🤝
@@JasonDunna you have a brazilian fan brother 🥂😂

The one thing about the Githyanki weapons I wish I’d known sooner is you can disguise yourself as gith and get the bonuses from them.
I just assumed that wouldn’t work my first playthrough but it does
Yeah I meant to mention that in the video but forgot! It’s tricky though because you need disguise self or seeming, and someone that uses the sword likely wouldn’t have that spell without multiclassing
@@JasonDunna Very true. Especially since the casters can only cast it on themselves (unless you have seeming), so your wizard can’t help you out
Problem with Nyrulna is when NOT using it in a throwing build imo. Cause you would want it in your backback and use as a ranged throw every now and then. Problem is it then placed in your main hand making close combat attacks significantlly weaker.
One thing I find confusing is arming a Monk. If it should be done at all and then when and how. Usually I use them unarmed apart from ranged but I see people suggesting some weapons and it even varies if they should have a weapon in main and/or offhand. I think that would make a good video.
If you’re Open hand monk, you eventually get access to ki empowered strikes that I believe don’t cost Ki points to attack with, so you can use Ny at the same time but only use those attacks as your main hand
Yeah you make a great point about having the Nyrulna in your back pocket for throwing.
Also for the Monk sometimes it’s beneficial if you’re using strength potions to have strength based weapons, as your flurry of blows will do unarmored strikes anyways. There are gauntlets that add damage to your unarmored attacks which kinda act as weapons but I’ll do a video on that because it’s a great idea.
In short: it depends
You have offhand empty with 2 handers as well with no shield so, belm also is slashing so cant be built around bhaalist armor which is natural for duelists, no offhand is no weakness since you get offhand attack with it from its special ability, so would say fair to say duelists porogative is S tier if built correctly, if just smacking it on its F tier I suppose.
The Belm can take the damage type of your main hand so if you use piercing the Belm will give an extra piercing attack! But yeah I underrated the duelists prerogative I am using it more now to get a better read on it
Hard disagree on Duelist's Prerogative. I won't hear anything less than a B-. That extra reaction is incredible and very versatile. Just some ideas off the top of my head, an extra reaction could be an extra
- Counterpell
- Psionic Backlash/ Dominance
- Fungal infestation
- Sneak attack
- Riposte
- cutting words (bit of a waste but possible)
- hellish rebuke
And I'm sure there's others.
Even if you ignore the +3, the Str/Dex option, and the improved crit, it just opens up so many interesting builds and fun combos. The elite ilithtid power psionic dominance is particularly abusable with this weapon.
Plus you get to use your bonus action to make another attack if your offhand is free. I feel like the only time it isn't worth it is if you really want to equip a shield, dual wield for extra benefits, or crit fish.
I need all the weapons at the same time
@@VikingZeroReviews you’d be a berserker “throwzerker” barbarian throwing all the legendary weapons
Only boo is worthy of wielding a weapon capable of the slaying of giants
@@shredda3165 you’re right!!! Boo is the smartest and the strongest
Pretty much any random piercing weapon (including duelist's perogative) will beat out balduran's giantslayer sadly, Bhaalist armour too strong (and multiple party members will benefit from it, you just need to move your vulnerability zone around)
Silver sword of the astral plane can double the psychic damage too by carrying around the resonance stone fron the act 2 final area
Also sadly Orin's dagger loses the necrotic damage once you pick it up (and remove the netherstone)
The Bhaalist armor is so good but you have to do some mental gymnastics to justify getting it on a good playthrough 😅 Orin’s dagger also applying vulnerability to piercing is pretty solid.
I love the resonance stone for that reason
Balduran’s giantslayer on a warlock/paladin with strength potions + pact of the blade is pretty interesting for smites
It’s so hard to not make Karlach my thrower since she is best girl and deserves the best stuff. Plus, it’s kind of comical to imagine her just throwing stuff around

@@someguy3987 you’re the best
Throwzerker Karlach with that Nyrulna thing was so crazy. I did find myself having to be real careful with it though, because that AOE damage will slap your own party members.
Nyrulna is a ton of fun, but those big booms can hurt the team 😅 It’s S tier on a throwzerker but at a cost, sometimes your martial classes get hit too
I feel like the silver sword is S tier personally. You can get it at level 3 and then it carries forever. Even if you arent gith its strong enough to use
It's disgusting how much better Shar's Evening Spear is than Selune's. But I don't like killing Dame.
Oh man it’s waaaay better but the cost to get it is too high. Dame Aylin is awesome
Ok so I just tried the pact of the blade trick with baldurab’s giant slayer and it still used my strength instead of charisma and actually reduced my damage lol
Do you have a strength potion active?
@@JasonDunna I did not lol that would make sense
I would like to mention that you can get the benefits of the Gith weapons by disguising yourself as a Gith. You just won't see your beautiful Tav.
Yeah that’s true I actually talked about that in a different video and forgot to mention it here
Not gonna cover the op charge nyrulna has? Best fight opener I could find for my throwzerker
Although I understand some points of duelist's prerogative, I think you missed points too. The two reactions can be used easily, as you can use your reaction to to necrotic damage equal to your proficiency bonus. Plus Bhaalist armour also increases its damage where belm wouldn't increase and I don't get the idea of putting the belm in your off-hand? Just put a weapon that would actually give you an increase instead of a weapon that just gives you an off hand attack which any light weapon does anyway. I personally think its a C tier definitely not the best but I don't see it as horrible, just think it can take a little more building around.
Also I dont think the Gontr Mael is that great, by the time you get it you will find that not many battles are really lasting longer than 3 rounds, even on Honour Mode I didn't find that many last long enough after I got it, plus you can get the darkfire shadow earlier on for cast of haste for melee characters and resistance to fire and cold damage and have use of speed potions, if the bow was earlier on maybe it would be better but the timing of it makes the difference too, so personally I would put it in C or B tier really.
Other than those two, I would mostly agree with the rest of the tier.
Personally I’m a DP stan. I’m using it in every playthrough after finding out just how powerful it is. 3 attacks per turn with no cost, the reaction bonus, and +4 on each attack is huge. With GWM that’s +30 damage per turn (assuming you hit which generally you’re gonna hit a vast majority if not all but crit misses) and just like that you’re doing ~11-21+4+10 3x per turn. Add in any buffs like Drake throat glaive, and now its average damage is crazy.
I always go for it on paladins now, made minthara 1 turn kill the elder brain on honor mode with little help. (240 hp left, didn’t even get to use 2 of my characters)
I can see your points and it definitely could be C tier like you say! I just put it there since the opportunity cost is high and I always try to have at least one thing in the F tier.
Gontr Mael giving a fighter haste for free is pretty nice but not everyone likes that spell. Using haste would give you a free attack to do your 3x attacks with, and then next turn you get 6x
However on honor mode it’s less useful
Thanks for your input!!
Could you do a video on how to get them?
I have a few guides on how to get weapons in BG3 but I should do all the legendary ones that’s a good idea. One of my first bg3 videos was stealing Voss’s sword in act 1 😅
Nyrulna's biggest issue for me is that it does AOE damage to allies.
Positioning and playing a bit with your initiative, also had this problem and it was almost a dealbreaker for me. But managing said things made the weapon easy S tier for me.
im shocked that duelist perogative is at the bottom lol that thing can one shot enemies with the right build
Yeah I underrated it. I’m gonna try and use it more
"making her a huge tiefling" I know what kind of a man you are.......because I am the same.

She’s one of us too
I feel like you shouldve just added shields in here too for viconia's
I actually put it in my legendary armor tier list! It’s by far the best shield ruclips.net/video/fd1sg1vr6tI/видео.htmlsi=s4SDXHhtWhV7-lU_
Nyrulna plus the Bhaalist armor on a paladin is possibly better than Balduran giant slayer.
Oh yeah the vulnerability to piercing is incredible! I love Nyrulna the only reason I put it in A and not S is that you usually have to set it up more than other weapons
I dunno, man, I'd say that it's a toss up between devotee's mace and blood of lathander for best in slot weapon for clerics, of all domains.
@@travisretriever7473 I think the blood of lathander outclasses the devotee’s mace, free self-revive and level 6 spell is nice. Not saying the devotees mace is bad! It’s just a tier list and I can’t put everything in the upper tiers or people will get upset in the comments 😅
What about the Deva Mace? Just kidding haha
Btw is it just my device or is your audio and video out of sync?
Deva mace slaps. I think the audio looks good on my end! The camera is a tiny tiny bit delayed but that’s it
Playing as a fighter/war cleric dwarf shame there are no hammers or war axes
The dwarvern thrower!! It’s a weapon that gets a boost if used by a dwarf
Duelist prerogative is criminally underated. I mean, it needs to be in a specific build to be effective, but it's far from trash. It gives an attack on a bonus action, so it's litterally like using TWF, except it has flavor on it. Yes, Belm does the same thing while allowing you to get more AC with a shield, but at the level you get these weapons, AC is barely relevant anymore. There are ways to get a ridiculous amount of AC on specific builds, but DD5 functions in a way that when you get 20 AC, it's more important to get more HP than more AC, because bonuses to attack rolls are more frequent than bonuses to AC, so a +1/+3 to AC is not much of a deal. On the contrary, Belm does 1d4+2 less damage per attack, and doesn't give you a bonus to your crit range, and crit fishing is far to powerful to get ignored in the DD5 system, and in BG3 in particular when you have so much way to stack those and get advantage.
And I haven't spoken about the bonus reaction yet, which can be abused in so many ways by spellcasters in general and fighters more specifically. Double counterspells, double counterattacks, double attack of opportunity, double cutting words etc etc.
It needs dedicated building, but it deserves at least B tier.
On the contrary, Selune spear is complete garbage. The only high-level spear of the game and there's no benefit to play it on a martial class when it's an optimal weapon to play in DD5 with the Polearm master feat. It gives advantage on Wisdom saves, which is a great defensive buff... on a weapon >
I would argue the specific build for Duelists Prerogative is pretty wide ranging with at least half the classes in the game having reasonable ways to make excellent use of this weapon, it's at the very least A tier. Agreed with how disappointing the Selune's Spear of Night is, especially when you consider how much better the Shar's Spear of Evening is in comparison.
@@andrewcarter9649 The range of classes that would get use of DP is not THAT wide, though. I mean, Bards, Rangers and rogues would make great use of it no matter what subclass they'd be, but the other classes need to build around the weapon rather than incorporating the weapon to a prexisting build.
- Barbarians would rather use a Heavy Weapon with Heavy Weapon Master, even in a Barbarian/rogue multiclass.
- Clerics don't use reactions that much except Light clerics, and those are heavily focused on spellcasting.
- Wizards and sorcerers can like the ability to cast two shields or counterspells per turn and the extra crit range, but they'd rather use a magic staff that would boost their spells, or even two.
- Fighters would definitely use this on a dex build. Champion + DP + The Deadshot longbow = banger.
- Monls have no use of weapons in late game.
- Paladins would only use this if they're oathbreaker or Vengeance.
- Warlocks would only use this if they chose the Pact of the Blade.
So yeah, most classes would make a use of it but the weapon has to specific requirements to be used as it is without adapting your build, like the other weapons in S and A tiers. So it remains a B for me.
@@raphaelregnault6914 I feel like saying DP is only OK because none Dex builds (or PoB Warlocks) can't use it is goalpost moving since none of these items is useful for every build. I mean Markoheshkir is quite probably the most powerful weapon in the game and yet only 2 classes can really make much use of it (Wizard and Sorcerer) while 2 others (Cleric and Druid) can get some use from it.
It should never be about whether any build can use a weapon (as that disqualifies every weapon) but how well it works with an archetype and how well it can be optimised. 6 of the 12 classes (and War and Light Clerics as well as Wizards and Sorcerers as edge cases) can make excellent use of the Duelists Prerogative and if thats an archetype you want to play then you've probably been building towards it using good earlier weapons like the Sword of Screams or Rupturing Blade.
The fact is that it allows for an alternative way for a martial build to weaponise it's bonus actions and reactions that isn't the same old types of build as you would normally see for GWP/PAM/SS or duel wielding builds. That it's an alternative that can largely keep up in the damage stakes is great.
@@andrewcarter9649
Main problem is that the tiers were not defined here and we definitely don't have the same view of them.
But now that you've explained I can see your point, especially since this weapon doesn't need a feat to make perfect usage of it, only specific items to synergize with.
So I'll agree with you, A tier it is.
the cleric healing club is actually STier for support if you have the correct gier
I think the blood of lathander usually ends up better, the bonus action heal you get from the devotees mace is kinda weak
Lv9 with about 5hrs left of act 2
You’re doing great! The conclusion to act 2 is epic
Nyrulna is the goat!
Facts!!
@@JasonDunna Well Firstly you don't really need to throw it, that's useful against large groups of rats, but first run I used a Paladin, and soon as I got Nyrulna I never swapped it out, among many things it gives a extra 3m of movement and jump distance, so I was jumpin all the way across the screen damn near, and it gives you feather fall, so you could be on top of a tower and jump all the way down. Den it has a thunder wind atk which blows enemies back and deals dmg, and charge atk dat hits everyone in it's path 3m wide in distance of about 8m. Dis Wpn will make you feel like superman!
Dudes a more handsome callmekevin
Hahaha! I do see the resemblance. We’re both part Irish too!
Where's Belm?😮🤔
Duelists Proragative is too good for F
I changed my mind on it, I never got it to work as good as the others until lately. Bhaalist armor and it are best friends.
Love the Vision profile pic hahaha
U need to use timestamps feature.
If I use timestamps then people watch half as much as the video and then it stops getting recommended. A lot of attention spans have been much lower in recent years
Where do you get that bow?
The Steel Watch Foundry! Make sure you bring lightning spells!
@@JasonDunna hmm. I know I crafted the crossbow there. I just have missed something my first 2 runs. I'm almost there again so I'll look more thoroughly. Thank you!!
No problem at all! Best of luck :)
Nyrlruna not S tier cause it for throwing builds? The same is true for the other weapons in S tier and their corresponding builds. 😂
Fair point. I think Nyrulna is S tier idk why I felt the need to rank it lower since it’s usually build specific. Sometimes when I put things that are build specific in the S tier people complain so I try to balance it for everyone and sometimes it fails lol
Nyrluna is pretty good even without building to its strengths. But the more you stack up on it the more it makes its weilder into a speeding truck. I have won tough fights just on virtue of having this weapon in play
I think ur missing alot on duelisy perrogative.
Its benefits come from 1 hand only yes.
But u talked about belm so Lemme show u Calcs
Belm is a scimitar +2 to hit 1d6+2 average 5.5 dmg per turn
Lets say ur dual wielding 2 Belms somehow
So u make 2 attacks and bonus action attack
5.5 times 3 is 16.5
Now duelist perrogative Is +3 to hit d8 dmg + d4 necro so average of 10 dmg per turn
It also give u a ba attack every turn so 3 attacks a turn
Average 30 dmg BUT WAIT u have 2 reactions both can do 4 necro dmg now
Average 38 Damage a turn
So it has a higer chance to hit and almost twice Two belms damage per turn
Even if they were imune to necro it would STILL do more damage then Two belms. So idk why u said what you said
Edit : the belm also has the ba attack but then dual wielding it is pointless cause u cant use 2nd weapon so Yes u could have a shield. So do half dmg every turn for 2 ac(3 if u get better shield )
Id still take duelist. Action surge that boy or pact blade it and ur doing triple to quadruple dmg of belm NEVERMIND HASTE ud do like 5 to 6 times belm dmg
2.edit - i saw u mention the infernal rapier belm combo mind u u need dual wielder feat for that but it would still only average 18.5 dmg per turn i guess u get a summon ... still not worth a feat and way less dmg for a summon imo
This comment isnt a rant im trying to explain it . And math helps
I even forgot extra crit chance. Just small cherry on top
Less than 5 min in and I'm screaming at the screen. Duleist's is the strongest melee weapon in the game, not counting "cheating" weapons like Deva mace, and even then it's not 100% clear. If we are looking at just at weapons used for melee damage, i.e. not stat sticks or wands like the bow or Lathander, it blows almost all other legendaries out of the water by a huge margin.
1. Any non-piercing weapon is outclassed by default because there is no slashing version of Bhaalist armor, so dragonslayer and Gith sword are definitely not better than this. Nylon looks great on paper, but you don't get much if you are not throwing it and it's janky to use without constantly breaking your party members' concentration.
2. It does more damage than Orin weapons and has +1 to hit. Orin weapons have some utility features, but those can be found elsewhere.
3. That leaves the Shar spear as the only competition. I'm not counting the utility of a free darkness spell, if you can make use of it, it's obviously going to be best in slot no matter what. Aside form that, you get an extra damage roll and an insane short rest restricted skill. Which is best will be determined by how well you can use the special attack, but when it comes to dealing consistent damage, it's worse.
The "you can't use a shield" argument is dumb. First of all, unequipping is free. Nothing is stopping you from starting the fight with a shield equipped to survive the first round, then unequip when you get your turn and delete the biggest threats. After the first turn you probably don't need it anymore. It's like saying mirror image is bad because it only works for 3 hits. Second, you don't lose much even if you do keep a shield on. In fact, this weapon gives you the equivalent of an off-hand attack while keeping the shield on. Belm has a similar ability, but it's not nearly as good.
Getting that upset over video game opinions is crazy to me..
Balduran greatsword and even infernal rapier + belm is better than duelist
You’re spitting facts but don’t get so upset lol. It’s definitely better than what they give credit for, I mean hell, any weapon that attacks 3x per turn at full damage + free necrotic damage is insane. Makes honormode acakewalk
Thanks for the levelheaded comment king of grim. I am personally a fan of the Infernal Rapier + Belm for the extra attack and getting some of benefits. I will have to try out some of the suggestions regarding this weapon and see
Sometimes I put things in the F tier just since there’s better alternatives available and I try to keep it balanced across all rankings (not putting everything in S, A, B) but I appreciate your input bro!
