My drifting strategy in this game:
Step 1 - set difficulty to easy
Step 2 - do the drift events until you get the U2 350Z
Step 3 - Never do drifting in Heat ever again

Yeah smart move, even if its not ur thing its not fun to drift around in Heat. My opinion may change bcs rn i only have a S15 but for now the payback B2D drifting (not racing) felt better.

Speedcross diff and suspension. Drag tires. Sounds strange but works great because of added acceleration. Especially on RX7
Showcase diff, Track suspension, and Drift tires. I have that setup on my V10 M4, and V8 S15. I appreciate obscure, and weird tricks with builds.
Showcase diff, track tires and speedcross suspension will actually put you in the sweet spot for drifting which is where the dot is floating a bit above the bottom line in the bottom right box, plus same tune settings he mentioned for live tuning of course, you also want less gears if you are going auto and more if you are doing manual, to get your speed up faster

you actually have to just slam the throttle to clutch kick, pressing it lightly won't clutch kick, i think everyone should know this
A.B.D. He’s talking about after you initiate with the clutch kick, you have to feather it or you’ll potentially spin out or get too much angle.

When I first get into a corner, I tap the RT button repeatedly during a drift to maintain that finesse. Also, downshifting works as well and you got to hold the analog stick slightly to maintain the streak.

Payback had a nice safety cushion from spinning out unlike 2015 and Heat.
It always makes me feel like the cars doing a little dance when they wiggle when they drift.

The best drift model ghost have made hands down. 2015 was garbage and Payback was way too easy imo. At this point i'd say its 5x better than The Crew 2 aswell.

What about a balanced build that keeps the dot in the middle so it can do both when asked to ?
I've tried that method already. In my experience it makes the car sluggish in both respects
This was also a question of mine. I haven't got the game tho. If that build is done in Heat maybe it'll be a beast in races. Just maybe...
General tip; manual allows you to control your car better, and it seems like using pro drift differential and suspension seems better than the super showcase differential/suspension in this game. Live tuning ur car to lowest height would give you better control and then live tune your steering to max right for best steering. (Think downforce is optional)
Disappointing that I'm still seeing "crab-walking" on the RX-7. It's been 4 years, and problems like this still exist.

I've managed to build myself a very smooth drifty boi Evo X, he's just enough of a point maker for doing the drift zones with all 3 stars, but it definitely is no point racking monstrosity cuz it doesn't flop around like a damn fish on land.
I mean, it's an AWD car. They aren't necessarily good for drifting.

The scoring in drift zones is broken. It doesnt really take speed into account. Not as much as it should. Just snake your way through the drift zone and you'll get 3 stars easily. If you try to link all corners, you're going to have a bad time sadly.
Cam have you tried to put on speedcross parts on tarmac drift events?
It honestly makes it so much easier for me
i was having tons of issues with drifting and kept telling myself it wasnt like real life in any way. then i heard you say it and smiled. lol.
I almost went RX7 after watching Daryus P's video but did what he did to my 180sx and it held monster drifts. I lost my clutchkicking and gained understeer after V8 swapping so I was forced to handbrake. It made transitioning rough and hard to maintain my multiplier. Swapped out my Suspension to a Speedcross Pro like HokiHoshi'l first recommended to me and my my car drifts like a ballerina. Have to dance with it.
I built up the Volvo 242 and that handles beautifully 😄

Haven't gotten the game yet, but I've seen some people with this issue, so if you struggle with clutch kicking to drift always remember there's an option in the live tuning to go back to break to drift.
But in the video he said brake to drift has been nerfed.
Get a car, put a lot of power in it, steer in hard, let off gas, countersteer, and back on the gas coming out of the corner.
Apparently putting on drag tires and speedcross suspension is really good for drifting too. Can't really say as I don't have the game yet. Just what I've seen online
Jordan Catwell speedcross suspension, track tires and showcase differential will put you in the best area for handling for drifting

Use on road suspension, showcase differential and drag tires. Also do an engine swap to give the mazda rx7 more power to maintain drifts. It's the greatest set up by far in NFSH
If you use speedcross suspension, showcase diff and track tires, it puts you in the sweet spot for drifting, which is where the dot is floating in the middle of the bottom right hand box, then use the same live tuning settings he mentioned, makes drifting really easy, plus if you’re using manual you want a longer gearbox, if going auto, use the shorter one, to get better control of your power and get through the gears faster
Man, Initial D and Toyota fanboyism aside, the AE86 was such a good drift car in 2015. Just because it was so light and destabilized so easily, it was also really easy to hold your angle around corners. That was my go-to car for drifting, once it was done away with in PB I haven't really found a car I could drift well with. The S15 and RX7 come pretty close but it really isn't the same.

I tried a full drift handling, that weird pulling the car does to the sides is still uncomfortable, and I personally prefer my drift cars to slide only with I force them, not when it oversteers at the slightest touch of the steering and throttle combination

I'm late as hell but want to add on: spam the gas as much as possible and control it with the steering. Like u said it's super unnatural but it's the only way you can drift properly in this game. You also don't need a lot of power (I'm drifting just fine with a ~300hp 180sx). The really important thing is slamming the gas over and over. Makes no sense but trust me.
How the hell do you drift with the double tapping r2? I try it and it takes like 7 seconds for it to actually start drifting
I get no Drifting using gas on my bmw m3 that I started with in the game, even with all my settings to drift and live tuning like yours. The double tap doesnt work with my game.
Update: Silly me had “Traction Control” on. Be sure to swith that off.

Think drift tyres make the cars undeiveable near enough, used to prefer more normal tyres along with lift off oversteer
Good explanation. I have the RX7 and drift alright in it but I didn't progress the story past the Let it Slide mission and the car they make you use in that is shit and I can't beat it. I get that it's all about stringing them together and getting the multiplier up but I just can't seem to keep my speed up enough for that. No, I'm not using the hand brake. Yes, I changed the tuning. Anyone have any tips for beating that mission specifically?
the only thing i hate about the drift physics in heat is the "dragging" that happens after a lot of swinging the "pendulum" of the drift. It feels like 2015's awkard drift physics where the cars would drag out way more than Heat imo

Ok after watching 3 times at .25 I see this is not actually in the garage, but showing only what you own. It would be better to be in the garage and slow down about 100 mph. 99.999999% drifting footage/ .0000000000000000000000000000001% tuning footage.

Ok i know ppl hat B2D and all that but like Drifting in NFS Payback felt good.
In Heat it feels like im trying to drift a train. Also hate when at slow speeds the car just suddenly grips up and sends me in to the shadow realm.
Racing wise its better with out B2D less epic but feels good but in the drifting.. that aint it.

No I still have my 180sx too but my r32 and rx7 are faster, especially my r32 so I use that more than anything else, I'm just sitting at 700k

You have to unlock all the elite+ parts, i think its after lvl 48. Then u can do heat races and get the ultimates
Not really, actually. You get Ultimate/Ultimate+ parts when you go into high heat races at hard difficulty, both at Heat 3 and 5. They will show that youll get the parts once you'll set the game to hard. (:

Yep, some contradictary stuff on RUclips going on. I think it's all about personal preferences. What feels good to you. Important things: acceleration, HP and grip. Find the right balance for the right car, no matter what components you use. Do what feels right for you.
As someone who switched to Speedcross after struggling with showcase/drift for a while, I am pretty sure that Speedcross parts are much better. But that's just me though, I made the 2017 NSX my drift car and Speedcross is so much better but it might be different for others.
@@c01onel I agree, before realising Speedcross' power, I used showcase and could only get one star drift zones in my F-Type. After the upgrade, I could three star then with enough practice, and it felt so much easier doing so
@@c01onel Agreed. The thing is, you have to mix and match to get a feel for the car. One tip that can help: don't go to extremes and don't hang on to perfect stats. Better - 0.1 on acceleration then +0.3 on it and slide all around the road without control. Also: First get it in the road x drift square. Then try to find the sweet spot, mostly it's closer to road then it is to drift I think.

Well nfs takes the real life drifting right too much gas you burn out too little not enough angle so no drift. So nfs is pretty realistic but the controls makes it harder to drift.

well i can drift the corners perfectly but the score is just awful even tho it looks and feels awesome and realistic... the way the score is counted forces you to drift in a super awkward way... it basically forces you to be all over the track... if you do a proper drift like the real world it will look cool but the score will be shity... kinda sad...

The mix of the two is quicker than simply sticking to one stlye but drifting isn't required to go fast in general
