    Clear pockets in a GM screen are the way to go. I made a screen from dollar store materials with pocket on both sides and it works great. The pockets on the player side are good to switch out for setting-appropriate pictures.

    Funnily enough, my first DM screen was 2 large ring binders taped together.
    It had a4 pockets front and back and 4 rings per side.
    It was awesome, I miss that screen.

    I agree, all fonts shrink with age. Love those old brown Dungeon and Dragon books. But I need my lighted ring magnifier to read them.

    What a smart, practical approach! I have an old DM screen that I covered over the interior with my own print outs. Great job showing us this product.

    that is a fancy outside, looks cool!
    fonts do shrink as you get older, so strange!!!
    printing your own, or having printable available GM/DM screens seems nicer than pre-printed ones. It's why I made both for OL, free downloadable printable version, or a version you can buy if you want a physical with nice art.
    Those bigger pocket sizes do look nice, plus dry eraser, super bonus

      A lot of great qualities, for sure. I was glad it arrived when it did, it really helped me organize my BECMI games... and of course, getting the font size where I needed it. lol. Cheers, my friend!

    My concern with screens like these are: 1) I don't like screens so tall that it interferes with my ability to see everyone at the table without getting out of my seat, 2) I worry about the plastic between sections getting brittle over time and cracking/breaking, 3) I worry about the plastic pockets absorbing ink from inserted papers, bubbling and uneven surfaces being harder to read, especially if the lighting causes glares on the clear plastic.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  6 месяцев назад +1

      Valid concerns, for sure. This one is definitely tall, so seeing everyone is hindered when sitting down compared to a 5E screen, like I showed in the video. I'm not sure on the other points... only time will tell. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

    yepp the definite way to go, i have 2, one from dragon shield and one from amazon, both have plastic holders, sleeves, to add your own sheets, the one from amazon also has the option to replace the player facing screen sides as well, and are able to use a dry erase on the sleeves

    • @swordsnstones
      @swordsnstones 6 месяцев назад +1

      added note the dragon shield screen is a landscape screen so you get more face view, i actually lay it down as we do all our rolls in the open and i have my game info in a binder so its not open for the players to see :)

    • @swordsnstones
      @swordsnstones 6 месяцев назад +1

      i use the screen for my game guide info that we all can use so its not stuff i have to hide from them

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  6 месяцев назад +1

      I may have seen a few of the dragon shield screens while I was at Founders & Legends Con. Some of the DMs had really cool artwork that faced the players. A lot of the tables all had classic or custom screens. Neat to see. Cheers!

      Yeah, they really are nice. The 3D texture really stood out. I've been hearing more and more about player's mats. I'll need to check into those someday.

    Yeah, it's funny how the fonts shrink with age. They just don't make ink like they used to...

      @WallyDM  6 месяцев назад

      I know, right? lol. Cheers!

  • @minimoose7890
    @minimoose7890 6 месяцев назад +1

    Not only was that old text too small for a screen, at any person's age IMO, but the ink and cardboard sort of fade and lose their contrast and sharpness over time making it worse to read.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  6 месяцев назад +2

      Ya know, I should do a video comparing the old 1E to 5E screen. Could be fun to see what information remains on them and what is different... It would also give me an opportunity to show what age and time has done to that old AD&D screen I have, lol.
