I agree with the Rag Megh assertion. The reason is the dramatic heroic rasa in the playing style. The Sarang family would be a gentler, shanti rasa-style expression from my experience.
Hello, there is a song that I wanted to hear again but I don't know the name, could you tell me it's name? It goes like this- Ga Pa Pa Dha Pa Pa Ni Pa Pa - Dha Pa Ga Re -- Ga Pa Pa Dha Pa Pa Ni Pa Pa - Dha Pa Ga Re -- Ga Pa Re - Ga Pa Re -- Ga Pa Pa Ni Ni Dha Pa - Pa Dha Pa Ga Re....
Madhmad sarang ...99%...a few gamak taans make you feel it is megh sometimes...the one instance of shuddh nishad at 7:15 makes you confused as to what this is...may be Ustadji wanted to test the listeners by design ...:)..nice Melody in jhaptal
khan sahib rightly called this raag brindavani sarang, its one of the versions, another version is its called madhmadh sarang, there is two distinct lines of musicians who just used the opposite names, but the raga potray remained same, but this is surely not megh.megh is different.
It’s played in SRMPnS’ scale(without shuddha N) . But when compared to others singer’s madhmad sarangs ( Veena Sahasrabuddhe,Kishori Amonkar, Kaivalya K G,etc),this one sounds quite different. Especially, the prominence of madhyam , which is absent in here . I suspect the discourse “Maihar’s brindavani =madhmad”.
I wouldn't attribute the naming of this raag as Brindavani Sarang to Ustad AAK - he was not such a raw wet-behind-the-ears musician. It's just possible that the original recording must have been incorrectly labelled. And to me by its sounding more like Megh than Madhmad Sarang, though I stand to be corrected.
I assume this is closest to raagam Brindavana Saranga. Doesn’t sounds like typical Madhmad, and this assumption makes sense to twist of Nishad treatment.
Very interesting that Khansaheb's gharana calls this Vrindavani whereas others call this Maadhmad Saarang. :-)
Krishna Parthasarathy no .the person who had posted he dont know....this is madhumad sarang only and AAK also tht this was Madhumad Sarang
Devine music I am fortunate for hearing such Devine play live
Elements of raag megh are vividly present though
🙏🙏🙏💐🌹🌷⚘🌺🦋 Beautiful recital.
Beautiful. Thanks a lot for uploading this.
Awesome!!!!!!!!

What a perfect opinion...( Heroic ras / Shanthi ras ) i too notice these nuances in music
Richard Russell no sarang is swift and megh is shanti rasa and this is madhumad sarang
@@swarajit1947 Sarang & swift? Why? Pls listen to the same raga by Hariprasdji.
Spot on.
This raga is Megh Sarang.
Baba taught us Megh Sarang over a period of several weeks

I have heard Megh Sarang by AAK was gaud Sarang +Megh. Is this another version of Megh sarang?
Sounds like Brindavana Saranga of Carnatic school...listen to Rangapura vihara kriti by MS...uncanny resemblence
wonderful
Very good feeling
Dr. Vidyadhar Pandit
In this sarang only komal Nishad is played and so it is
Called MADHAMAD SARANG. PLEASE CORRECT THE TITLE.
This is called Brindabani Sarang in the Maihar Gharana. No correction is needed.

Sayak Barua khan sahab called it as madhumad sarang
yes . you can't ignore the megh 'feel' . But what exactly is it . waiting .
Beautiful
Very very effect is likely from raga Megh. May be Brindaboni Sarang or Madhmad Sarang but played very nice. 🙏
Mr. Sudip Chattopadhay rightly pointed out that the Raag played by Ustad AAK is Meghumad Sarang not Brindavani Sarang
Nice
Thanks

Isn't this raag madhumaad Sarang? Because vrindavani sarang has shuddha nishad in it.
Seems Megh to me. But Rajuji is a connoisseur, he would know better. Somebody from Maihar may pl comment. Anyway, it's a majestic piece.
this is definitely raga megh,,its very similar to Vrindavani Sarang ,only the sudhha ni is not used, rest the notes are same as Vrindavani sarang
Subhrajyoti Sen vai madhumad sarang na?

Ni to pa uses the feel of Megh which comes from kanada ang and Ma to re uses Sarang feel.. it feels like Megh Sarang
Ali Akbar Khan would name these Sarang Ragas differently than other Gharanas.
If they call madhumad Sarang vrindavani sarang then what do they call vrindavani Sarang ?
Brindabani সারাং has two nishads but madhumad sarang has only komal nishad.
The Raag played by Ustd Ali Akbar khan is Megh, not Vrindabani sarang
Sudip Chattopadhyay megh malhar or madhumad sarang? Pls help.confused
Its madhumad sarang
Nishad is not used it may b megh or madhumad sarang not vrindavani sarang.
this is not Vrindabani Sarang.. during arohon komal nishad can not be used..this is Megh Sarang...
I assume this is closest to raagam Brindavana Saranga. Doesn’t sounds like typical Madhmad, and this assumption makes sense to twist of Nishad treatment.
this is madhumad sarang(madhyamavathi) not brindavan sarang
…for all other gharanas :) But for Maihar Gharana this is Brindabani Sarang.
megh
Definitely not Madhmad Sarang for the lack of repeated rests on madhyam. Megh Sarang sounds more like it.
In Maihar Gharana this is called Brindabani Sarang.
In other Gharana s what is it called?
could it also be Megh ?
Mahesh and Krishna this is Raag Megh... Not Brindavani Sarang and not Madhumad Sarang
@@jayateerthkulkarniflute wrong, its not Megh. its Madhumad sarang or brindavani Sarang. stop confirming things you dont know
This is not Brindavani Sarang. Wrongly writtern. This is Raag Megh.
It is raaga madmad sarang according to my guruji
No this is Brindabani Sarang, in the Maihar Gharana.
