actually I just checked the spec on 1972 scania 14 litre v8; 350bhp and 910 lbft, so the detroit has the edge definately; wonder about american 4 stroke truck engines from similar period? the 8v92 u mention...is that with turbo?
not if you compare them in terms of piston displacement etc ....also remember that Europe use a different horsepower unit....1 USA HP is not equal to 1 Euro HP ...
for a 14 litre scania for example u have around 650bhp how much for a 14 litre cummins? from what Ive seen/ used a mercedes 14 ish litre heavy load truck had around 500bhp and that was an old inline 6, mack truck of similar age and larger engines had about the same although obviously torque is the main consideration.
actually the Scania v8 is 14,2 l with max 530 HP later also 16,4 l v8 max 730 HP, MB v8 was 14,6l and with a max. of 530HP this was NOT an inline 6, latest MB v8 was 16l with max. 630 HP.

I believe the blower only delivers enough air for the engines to be equivilent to naturally aspirated....?
This is actually a 4 stroke, so it doesn't need a blower to reach naturally aspirated air pressure
