I knew an instructor in the 70s who started each lesson with early students by tuning their guitar. He held off teaching how to tune it themself until their second year. Bold strategy.
Hahahahaha yes there were so many instructors like that. Even today they often don't teach important fundamentals, strategy is to keep the students dumb and needing lessons for as long as possible.
