And they dont get the credit they deserve. Behaviour ( which i loved) aside, oasis are a phenomenal band. If theyd been a bunch of kiss ass pussies, theyd be top 20 on all music lists
dtice I'm Irish and I think oasis impacted here just as they did in the UK, we all go fucking mental when wonderwall is mentioned, or any other oasis song too.
And then selfishly couldn't get along and ended it all prematurely....nothing says 'it's all about the fans' like breaking up right before a huge festival and leaving all your fans wanting... I don't deny their impact or 'success' with certain audiences, but I never could understand the level of selfishness and plain ol' immaturity they demonstrated by this and many other acts...
Quite an Iconic gig. Oasis were headlinging this festival and Snow Patrol were on before them. During the day of the festival was the moment Oasis broke up so they pulled out of the gig. So Snow Patrol filled in and just played Oasis covers. Incredibly brave to go on stage infront of all those people unprepared and playing another bands songs!
I didn't realise that?! S#it! I can't believe I missed that detail, I've been following snow patrol for 20 +years and a massive oasis fan! I've seen them 8 times! I genuinly just thought it was a tribute as opposed to a 'replacement'! Who knew, Mr Lightbody saves the scene effortlessly and with quirky humour! 🤣
Technically Oasis broke up a couple of days later, minutes before their Rock en Seine slot in Paris. But it seems like everybody knew it was over - check out Keane covering Cast No Shadow and MGMT covering Live Forever in the same festival
Snow Patrol are just class to have done that. No ego, no evy, no haughtiness. They knew the crowd was so disappointed by Oasis' absence and they just made 'em a gift. There's another video were they praise Muse and tell the crowd how lucky they all are to be about to see them perform. Gary really looks like a nice human being.
This is this just whoever its Gary Lightbody frontman from Snow Patrol . He has plenty of his own fans and he has perform this song better than Liam!!!
I love how he he's taken aback by the reaction of the crowd when he starts singing.. And I love how the crowd just sings it the way it's supposed to be sung, even though Gary is trying to give his own interpretation of it.. And I especially love how the crowd is even singing the backing vocals! Now that's a classic song!!!
Great show of respect for these guys. Never gonna be their biggest fan, but was a very classy thing to do, considering many people were hoping to see oasis at that gig, especially me. My first V fest.... Fucking memories man
He don't need a oasis song to engage the crowd he perfectly capable of engage with his own fans with his own songs check our "RUN" he performed at the same venue. Liam was crap with his own crowds rough and a common shit.
Nah, Snow Patrol has loads of videos of crowd participation. Gary doesn't need a Oasis song he has plenty of his own and as plenty of his own fans. Plus he 's really NICE bloke not like Liam
How could Liam and Noel hear this and not realize how important Oasis was/is. Theres no way in the world they both haven't seen this or even heard it. Damn shame they couldn't set aside personal differences and continue to make world changing music. We love you Oasis because your us, regular folks.
Has my memory completely failed me or is this the V that's the brothers had a fall out and they simply didn't turn up and Snow Patrol had to fill in! It's just a totally heroic performance!
@@TheBiologyking i pray you're right, but oasis were the last big rock band. now the internet is here music is a different world. albums are a thing of the past for 90% of the paying public. i think digital age has turned the world into a fickle place as well. here today gone tomorrow. it's not the way it goes anymore. oasis saw the stone roses and said we can take it further. with no one amazing now (not in the main stream at least) it gets tough for people to get inspired.
I disagree completely. People that want a reunion usually just buzz of the first two albums. The vast majority couldn't name any songs from the last album. Why would it be so good for them to reunite is beyond me.
I remember being there and how gutted i was when they announced Oasis had cancelled. But Snow Patrol more than made up for that. They're the only band that can do justice to these to songs. Brilliant. Absolutly brilliant.
I love this. I'll admit oasis is my favourite band but snow patrol is also one of my top favourites! So to put them together is awesome! Also am I the only one who has noticed that snow patrols crowd always sings in a very high octave
Snow Patrol you were great! both songs were fantastic and the fans too I wish I could have been there, I saw you in Los Angeles and I enjoyed every single moment of your concert, I am looking forward to see you again next time you come to Southern California
That crowd is singing louder than Gary! I love it near the end of the song when the fans are singing the background vocals! Gary: "I said maybe" Crowd: "Maybe!" Gary: "You're gonna be the one that saves me" Crowd: "Saves me!"
When the crowd is genuinely singing in unison at the same volume as the singer, even cancelling the instrument, that’s one hell of a fucking crowd. Sounds like the equivalent of one of Oasis’ Argentina crowds. Mad for it.
remember hearing this, my dad casually said i want this played at my funeral just kind of showing how much he liked the song, now it always bring a tear to my eye
Oasis wouldve headlined V festival that year, so a lot of people were actually there for Oasis. Nevertheless are these 2 songs golden oasis songs, every brit should know them lol
Btw- "Wonderwall" is a song by the English rock band Oasis, written by the band's lead guitarist and main songwriter Noel Gallagher. (1995). And Champagne Supernova was also by Gallagher in '95. That was 24 yrs ago folks… I wish I was 37, not 61. Hehe! _GREAT band!_
You know who's songs don't get this kind of reaction? Blur. History has judged the winner. Game, set and match for Noel, our kid, Guiggsy, Bonehead and Alan.
Yes, but you know who is still actually making creative, new and genre-defying art with ingenuity? Damon Albarn. Gorillaz are more relevant than ever and engaging culture in a way that isn’t resigned only to classic hits. In fact if history has anything to say, really, Albarn and Gorillaz are still making it 😉
BigSoggyLad pardon? Probably oasis is famous but not that solidly took decades to be together. Hello, SP is turning 25 and still creating good music. Without noel, oasis won't have those great songs. FYI. Gary lightbody got honorary degrees due to his contribution in music. He may not be as famous as the whole oasis band but at least he's not shitty like liam. Lol

It's funny. You can listen to Oasis play these songs 1000 times, album version or live, and it's great. But sometimes, when another band covers the material, it reveals how great the songs actually are. Puts a new lens on it. I suppose it helps if you're able to deliver songs like Gary can.
That crowd is fucking insane.

Never been a big fan of snow patrol, but look how happy he is. Excellent cover
I get emotional listening to people sing back the lyrics, or when you can hear the crowd singing louder than the person singing

I was in this crowd! It was awesome Snow Patrol did this, because Oasis didn't turn up and SP had to headline instead.

Well it is in England as they was one of the biggest bands that come out of England in the last 25 years
Dominic MCR snow patrol are from Bangor Northern Ireland
I'm talking about oasis
Dominic MCR well background speaking Oasis are British/Irish all of the originals were first generation sons of Irish working class immigrants.
Yeah but the reason they who they are do because they grew up in manchester in the 70s
The crowd singing louder than the singer brought tears to my eyes at the very first verse
Man, this guy can really engage the crowd in his shows.
especially with oasis songs
not this guy, but the song dude 😀

I can't imagine the feeling of not being able to see a thing from that stage but hearing that crowd singing your song.

Best crowd ever. Goose bumps all over.
The day that someone sings an Oasis song in front of a big crowd and no one sings along that day...the last drop of good music will die.

to be fair, liam always wanted to get oasis back together but Noel is not interested. so the problem is with noel..
THEY ARE BACK!!!!
They're going on tour next year
Is crazy to think about working class uneducated council kids from Manchester can change the generation of the people when they were in the 90s.
Dominic MCR Noel is sharp as a tac!
Liam is as thick as bricks,, Noel ain't.
More than 20 yrs and I still remember all the lyrics, emotions, and memories...
The subtle look he has on 13 seconds, when he gets to be his own idol and realises how brilliant it must be to be Liam singing that song to a crowd
I love it when Gary laughs 😍 so adorable😍😍😍

Only Gary dares sing these hymns. Just amazing!
combining the genius of oasis with the talent of snow patrol, simply epic.
