Great take in Pinetop's Boogie Woogie! You put your own stamp on it. A very unique version I heard on YT was Mac Rebannack's. Maybe that's the New Orleans rhythm approach. Sounds cool, not at all like the original.
Wonderful as usual. I am working further to my playing. F.I. The stride blues with stomping feel , the pieces gets in naturally and the sound - a dancing feel. Thanks Ethan. Rik from Belgium
Me too! I'm playing a gig that night, BUT, it's close to Blue Strawberry, and we have a window between soundcheck and downbeat where I think I can come catch some of the show! You start at 7:30 right?
I've been finding it challenging to find time to construct and record tutorials. I've been filling up my piano bandwidth with practicing and gigging. (It was easier during the gig-less pandemic). BUT, what is it you'd like to learn about ? Got anything in mind? Sometimes thinking up the content is the hardest part :)
Killer playing as usual! I didn't quite get what you meant about the downbeats- you mean it should sound closer to ragtime and barrelhouse by way of the 4 strong beats as opposed to backbeats?
I was trying to say that boogie woogie really swings when you create a feel with an even quarter note pulse. If you over emphasis the 2 and 4, it gives it that backbeat feel of rock n roll, and doesn't swing. If you emphasis the 1 and 3, it has more of a ragtime or barrelhouse feel. Does that make more sense? I'll go back and edit description to make it more clear.
This is unbelievable good not just your 11/10 playing, the sound of the piano is superb
A message from England my friend. Great Boogie Wooing.

My toes atapping!

Mind boggling. :-) Just started playing piano, so hearing and seeing in a new light. Well done! :-)
An insider's view! Best of luck on your piano! Be patient :)
@@EthanLeinwand Thanks. :-) First full tune I've learned was Stump Johnson from your sliding rolls tutorial, so thanks for that. :-)
Love to hear that!!
@@EthanLeinwand There's a video of it on my videos. Since then have generally improved, and also listened to the original to get an ending. :-)
Oh man , sounds great! nice work
Love your style.
Thanks Marlene! First view and first comment!
Very Nice!
thanks!
Absolutely love this Ethan ❤️❤️❤️ I would love to be able to improvise like this 🎹❤️🎹
For me this music has always been about improvisation. (Long bar and restaurant gigs also helped 🙂) Keep exploring!!
@@EthanLeinwand yes I will keep exploring 😀😀 I’m getting better but it’s a slowwww process 😁 great to see another video from you 😊👍🏿
I feel you! Piano growth is a slow process.... sometimes painfully slow!
@@EthanLeinwand absolutely this ⬆️⬆️ I need more time and more patience 😁
@@EthanLeinwand can confirm
Amazing job man. Could you do some advanced tutorials maybe?

@@EthanLeinwand Yeah that's what I thought you meant...
@@EthanLeinwand That cleared it up for me (listener and enthusiast). Thanks!
well...I see wine is not the only thing that gets better with age..!
I'm still in the barrel aging process!
