Glad that you dodged a bullet! Your fate would’ve been MUCH different had Paolo Macchiarini stuck around any longer. Unfortunately, he won’t be the 1st nor last of the corrupt STEM professionals.
This is a really good summary of the whole disaster, tbh. I'm glad he's finally being tried in court, but honestly there's no prison time he can be sentenced to that will undo the immense harm he caused. Personally, I'd like to see consequences for the people whose negligence let him continue for as long as he did, as well...
The people whose negligence let him continue have all done a splendid job building a new and improved career. They don’t have time for this any longer. Move along, nothing to see here!
Both of the versions of this song are great The original Swedish one has some brilliant wordplay that doesn’t work in English, but this one has its highlights too I, too, came from Medlife Crisis, but I think I’ll stick around. This song managed to both be humourous and treat the subject matter with the gravity it deserves

And for what it's worth, I much prefer this version to the other one, the tone really suits the gravity of the subject. Haunting. Just watched the Netflix doc and I'm 💯 flabbergasted that this 'super surgeon' was able to carry on his pipe hose trachea experiment and the board did nowt and moved on to new jobs! Such a sad one but love your version better than the documentary
Wow . I remember the case of one korean-canadian baby went to him for get a new air way transplant using stem cell. And she died after surgery. It filmed at that time. and most people who watched the movie about it feel deep sorrow about how her parents were wishes also how they were desperate Hena's normal life. Doc paulo should be shame. Thx for remind Sir. -greeting from korea
Yes, Dr Paolo did Not care about his own patients! He never did follow up, no matter how badly his patients suffered post-operation! Nor he ever kept tabs on his patients, even when the other Doctors reached out to him! He did not return their phone calls! It is these same Doctors that had to watch Dr Paolo M’s patients experience terrible, painful outcomes and deaths! He is likely a Psychopath! Yet, many said how charming, warm, mesmerizing he was when he spoke! He fooled many! Also, his previous colleagues did try to tell the Karolinska Institute in Sweden Not to hire him, that his research was suspect and untrustworthy, but they were ignored! It is hard to fathom how this Dr didn’t show empathy to even his very young patients! He has Children himself!
What he did is so far from a laughing matter, the way he destroyed and ended life, the way the whistle blowers were treated and the way the board of KI dragged our amazing Institute and Hospitals name in the mud. BUT this song was spot on, just what we needed, it’s so tragic that feeling it is too much to handle. So being able to laugh at his stupidity and pathetic excuse for a doctor is just brilliant 😂😭
I was searching for a list of cruel people and found this man Paolo. After seeing the documentaries and then listening to this song was a different experience. I really want to thank you Henrik for making this song.
I’ve had you singing his fucking name in my mind on repeat ever since I saw this, but forgot what it came from. But not anymore, I have found the source of the great Paulo Macchiarini lyric! 10/10
"...... and unfortunately every word in this song is true." These words make me so sad because they are true! I am Italian and I didn't know this story. I knew it with your song, Dottor Henrik. As a ballad is a marvellous ballad. A very good ballad. And, this Italian Doctor, is....... I am not sure what he is. In Italy, quite everybody doesn't speak about him, because televisions, papers, and, finally, the "media" don't speak about this "story". After I listened about your song I did some research, an Internet research, I knew about him. It is quite impossible that most Italians doesn't know about this "fellow-countryman"; I'll pray for the victims and their relatives. And I hope their souls are in Heaven. ❤❤❤
Incredible story, and so sad. Did he really use garden hose? *shaking head* Bless you for singing of the truth, and for making such an awesome song as you did so.
Such a chilling and horrible story... You putting it into song will help people remember this, and hopefully be less willing to put up with such irresponsible and criminal behaviour. Great work.
As many others I've find this vid through the Medlife Crisis channel, but I can't help myself from coming back to listen the song.... It sounds damn good just as a song besides all the meaning behind it... I hope this one will be your big breakthrough to the medical music scene ;))
