I had the album _Spring Session M_ back in 1982. I enjoyed ''Walking In LA" and "Words'' the most. The album dated very quickly because music was changing by the month. ''Destination Unknown'' was also a fun track.
@@mightyV444 I completely forgot that! 😳It was a pretty clever anagram in its day. It's funny because ''Words'' reminds me more of the ''1982.. Up In Lights'' record than the SSM album. You probably wouldn't feel the nostalgia as strongly as I feel it when I see this ad. Either Hayley or Dad would buy one of those K-tel records that featured the songs of the season. ruclips.net/video/PgMMQVMBVP4/видео.html
@@mightyV444 I owned the record, and all the other K-Tel comp. albums. It's funny that ''Real Men'' by Joe Jackson just happened to be one of the cuts used on that ad. Did that song get to be a hit in Germany?
'Words' got to number 10 here in Australia after the clip got played on Countdown. There's no info. on which chart position it reached in Canada. It wasn't hard to get radio to play ''Words''. This song was one out of many that seemed to surround the power of ''Words'', and was pretty cool in it's time. Missing Persons' singer Bozzio was paired with Midnight Oil's Peter Garrett for the 1985 American Music Awards thing a few hours before Lionel and the selected American pop cream recorded ''We Are The World''. The drummer joined Duran Duran. That's all I have on this band.
Destination Unknown was the song that got them signed. Rumor was that Pete Townsend Produced & did backing vocals on it. It's a rumor that's never been denied ..
Ooh, I shall listen out carefully for Pete's voice next time I listen to that song then! 😀 Which I'd done already oodles of times in the past, but I'd never picked up on anyone sounding like him 🙂
Mighty V - Listen to You Better You Bet & then Destination Unknown .. Recorded the same time & remember Pete had to do it incognito & uncredited. I say 50-50 it's him.
I'd read an interview with Terry and Dale Bozzio in a music magazine 40 years ago, and what had intrigued me then, in my early teens and as a drummer, were her 'interesting' outfits and his very unusual drum kit setup with mostly roto toms, and he also was the first drummer I'd ever seen stacking cymbals, which has become very common in recent years. But it was only 35 years later and through youtube that I finally found out what they actually _sound_ like! 😀 Sure, she hasn't got the greatest voice, but their music is decent-to-great, in my opinion 🙂
@@liveitup67 - It hasn't always been the same car either! 😄 But all their license plates start with 'PUP5...' and usually followed by two more digits; _This_ time it was really just 'PUP5', with the 5 looking like an S from a bit of a distance 😄

this is my favorite song of theirs. it was the first of the videos that they play of the band on MTV. my friends didn't like them at first but they came around. The musicianship is better on this than most of their stuff. The guitar solo alone is insane.
I was aware of the band, they had a certain notoriety just for being fronted by a woman, but never paid them much attention. This is ok, but I don't feel like I missed anything. Shortly before this Terry Bozzio auditioned for Thin Lizzy, but didn't get the gig.
This is a new band on me , sounds like the drummer was in charge of the mixing cos he’s dominating this song and that’s a good thing cos this singer is really not very good on this track , weak and thin vocals 👍🏴
@ I was just reading up on them there as I’d never heard of them , THAT wasnt mentioned 😀.. but it now makes sense though how someone with such a weak vocal could be a front person for the band .. 👀 👍🏴
I have never heard of this band before. I should like this because it is typical new wave from 1982. But unfortunately it is not a strong tune and the keyboards detract from the song. Vocals are sketchy. Give me Hazel O'connor, Martha and the Muffins, Lene Lovich instead.
this was my first and favorite Missing Persons songs.

That album title is an anagram for 'Missing Persons' (for those who hadn't known yet) 🙂

Yes, Terry Bozzio did marry the singer, but it didn't last more than a few months apparently. Terry was Frank Zappa's drummer!

Bozzio, O'Hearn and Cuccurullo all did time with Zappa.
