Yeah that's the PC tent you mean? the free standing one it certainly does looks like something else very cosy and warm. .Got to admit I like that tent it's an absolute cracker..!!
Enjoyed this video. Looked like a great camp, and I found it both useful and entertaining to watch the Vern 1 in use from the inside in foul weather. Also interesting that you had yet to seam seal it, and still not a drop came through the stitching. I hate the idea of seam sealing, so if I can avoid it, I probably would. It looks very promising, and I guess this video confirms its placement on the top of my to buy list, followed closely by another norwegian tent maker, Barents Outdoor. Their Snota 1 is a close contender. It is lighter, but also more expensive, in addition to be a 3 season only tent. But I digress. Thanks for another cracking video, and I hope you had fun packcrafting 🙂
Thanks Andy, I have used 'the voice' professionally. Plus when I was in a fledgling skydiving team it was my role to calm us all down before a jump so a session with the voice would happen. Memories. The challenge would be to do a whole video of this. Have a lookbback at one of the old simond makalu ones. I had a go with 'the voice' over. Thanks for commenting once again Andy.
Thanks to you, and your videos I just ordrered one. I guess it helped that they have a decent sale now, and it is 25% off, but I probably would still be hesitant without you showing all its features and strengths. Now, I just have to find out how to seam seal it. The weather we are having at the moment, might make that very difficult. That and the bloody cat, who has already messed up one tent. :)
Darn cats! I scooch ours away whenever there is precious nylon out. There is a video on the Nortent site, and I have done one too- enjoy! let me know how you like it.
Hi and nice video, Cold law is a nice quick easy hill, one of my favourites, Soto emm is it better, my windmaster less than a year old the ignition has failed, can’t be bothered to sent it back I just use a lighter !!!!! I really fancy that tent but it’s pricey, I may have to have a look at it ,that toy looks like the one I take to put in the vids for the daughter, just a different colour !! Cheers Adrian
Of all the single-person tents you have reviewed - the Nortent Vern 1 is by far the pack leader. A serious all-weather backpacking tent. Just one look at it and you can see it was designed to fulfill it's raison d'etra - keeping one warm and dry. . I think the Vern 2 is my favourite, just for the extra space albeit at the expense of a little more weight carried. . That 'Stormbrigner' stove is likewise a nifty piece of kit, especially its muli-fuel capability. Great review Scoutmaster! . BTW - Every Scoutmaster has a 'nick-name' or handle (our boss was 'Plum' for some inexplicable reason lost in the mists of time...). So what do your troop call you - officially (lol) ?
Cheers Deenz. Look out for the new versio of the verns due out soon. Going to be great. Yes, scouts nickname, the other leaders just call me by surname, bit military. The scouts just call me Dave, srry, no weird nicknames. that did happen when i wa a scout though. I was Erg then!
You have me eyeing this tent for winter use... and hoping that I can get my cat in one this winter (after I get her a jacket, she's a tiny tiger, not a Maine coone). From what I understand there is an awning feature, which you can deploy by tying out the open side of the door with a trekking pole or stick or something. I'm curious as to whether you've tried that and if so how well it works in practice :)
@@Fellmandave1 Except that my adventure kitty in training is far too cute to resist. She gets a lot of attention on her walkies in the park, so she deserves to trek with her hooman 🤣
does this tent gets wind tested by nortent? nordisk svalbard wind test looks very promising. also they use 40d fly..but small porch and inner pitch first is a bit of a problem ..
Hi, I don't know of any wind tests. I will be doing mine as opportunity allows. I had the svalbard. Nice tent but was returned due to groundsheet quality issues. Tape all fell off.
I’ve got the small Soto origami camping table excellent.but at £215.00 I’d have to be really keen to buy the storm breaker, but I’m sure it would be a value for money long term purchase.👍
For those with allergies/intolerances who like to hike (I’m coeliac and that has also caused issues with dairy tolerance, though cheese at Christmas is a must as I figure I’ll be overindulging anyway so I can blame my discomfort on that 😉) I’ve found Overherd oat milk powder is really good; creamy and doesn’t split in tea or coffee (if you make up slightly thicker than recommended it is like a creamer) & makes a good milk substitute in homemade camping meals or for cereal and only one I have found so far that uses gluten free oats, so highly recommend if you are looking for something like this if you can’t tolerate dairy (and gluten is also a major no no!) 😊
@@Fellmandave1 the brand I use is called Overherd, its a UK brand, bright pink branding which says ‘Overherd Oat Drink Powder’ on the packaging; RUclips won’t let me link unfortunately! 😕 it’s a really good dairy free alternative to milk, best I’ve found yet (& I’ve tried a lot!) 😊
Top pole connection is quite poor. Try to erect this tent in really crap conditions like -10 C and wind and your hands gonna get cold. 4 Season tent mean quick erecting with gloves and no f about with fiddle solutions. Like yours movies !
It's a fair point but all tents are a compromise. Keep an eye out for the new version which may satisfy or answer your needs. If you don't like my movies, can I politely suggest you don't watch them. Or , you may like to try and demonstrate your knowledge via the medium of film yourself.
Nortent tents are now available direct in the UK at: valleyandpeak.co.uk/collections/nortent
Cracking video. Thanks for posting. The tent looks great. And Soto make some great gear. The Windmaster is so good.
Thanks Richard. This tent does deserve some good exposure
Tent looks good out there on the heath.. and I like your rocket too and your pal the 'wee' the Scotty dog..

No. The new vern 1!
Right the Vern 1 that's also an great looking tent too Fellman..
I think this is my new favourite 1 man 4 season tent! Great video again!
Mine too Leigh!
what a great tent. Had my eye it for a while. Every review i have seen has been positive and your test has nailed it. My next purchase. Cheers.
Great to hear!
Fantastic video! I'm having trouble deciding between the Vern 1 and the Vern 2. Maybe I get both!
That would be entirely the right decision.

Yes.

howwould you rate fjallraven abisko lite 1 next to this tent? i think verns negative is a very big footprint..
Equal I would say. But, you can't have space without the footprint.
sorry what trekking pole did u have in this video?
Quite old top of the range aluminium leki. Makalu?
Recently bought this tent any ideas for what footprint would be best for it ?

What you think about the fjallraven abisko lite 1 footprint ?
you could try quintcraft www.quintcraft.co.uk/product-page/tent-footprints
