@@bullymaguire4056 Holy Moly! That's a score!!! WOW! Congrats. and thanks...hopefully, one day...! (on a side note, I had a great score last Summer when I picked up a full long box of Marvel/DC 70's horror and a bunch of nice Batman's and other stuff for a couple of bucks a piece, but the big find was a copy of Batman Adventures 12 (first Harley Quinn). Got it graded and it came back a 9.6!
kamenliter WHOA!! What a score I was looking at a Batman adventures 12 the other day and since the last time I checked that book has really gone up now
@@bullymaguire4056 yeah I couldn't believe it was still in the box...I had actually gone back for some other Batman books (Death of Robin) and saw the Batman Adventures ...thought for sure #12 would be missing but there it was....not every day you come across those kinds of finds..but a Spidey 3 and 8! WHOAH!
When I was young as long as a comic had a cover and all the pages I just crossed it off my checklist. Now I wish I always bought the best copy of a comic. Your Amazing Spider-Man #1 is nice. I remember when it was worth more than AF #15. I bought from Richie many, many times. I got a Detective Comics #64 in fair/poor+ condition from him for $8 several years ago.
Love your story on how you obtained your Spidey #1. I do remember a time when it was more valuable than Amazing Fantasy #15. My how times have changed.
Nice collection. I think it's terrific that you kept the Ditko run that you aquired as a kid. I still have most of my "kid acquisitions" of the Ditko run, but I've sold some to upgrade. Those that I've sold I have some regrets selling, because you come to love those books, warts and all.
Thanks. Yeah, I've kept just about all of them, but have sold a couple to upgrade. Just recently sold a #20 in Good for $70 and change. But I'm holding onto my beat to shit #17.
Very nice video. I remember when The Amazing Spider-Man # 1 was more desirable than Amazing Fantasy #15 too. Back issues of Spidey were always more expensive than the other Marvel titles. Consequently, I'm missing most of the first 9 issues. I been buying comics from Richie since the late 70's too. I bought a Detective Comics #64 in fair shape from him for eight bucks in the early 80's. It featured the first appearance of the Boy Commandos.
Good question...Well, my books aren't really in alphabetical order overall..I've got boxes devoted to Spider-Man, FF, DD, Cap, Conan..etc..the ones that pretty much fill boxes by themselves..then I've got a sort of alphabetical order for lesser run books...but that's then split between Marvel and DC...then I've got boxes for independents...plus a number of boxes of more recent stuff that hasn't been put into any kind of real order yet...it's an ever evolving process.
Thanks on the Spidey. Hey, pretty cool, a fellow Richie customer. (I've since found out, btw, that my #1 was color touched, and likely by him, as back in the day he was known "to have never met a comic that he didn't like to color touch.")
Thanks! I have posted a bunch of my early Spidey's on the CGC forum..specfically the 'hey buddy can you spare a grade' section...roughly about a month or so ago! Unfortunately, I discovered that a few of them, incld the #1 have some slight color touch and the #2 likely has a trimmed cover. :(
Hey - sorry, just noticed this comment. That's pretty cool that you also bought from Richie...I bet there must have been some times when we were both at his flea market set up at the same time! Cool on the Detective Comics.
Thanks! Ah, hindsight is always 20/20...I guess we've all got those 'ones that got away,' lol...I did that with the platform because I had a flood a few years back (hot water heater burst) and at the time my boxes were on the floor...and the water rose to about 3-4 inches...thankfully I was home at the time and was able to save my books...nothing was ruined and in part it was because they were in the Drawerboxes, which lent them extra protection because of the inner sleeve.
Cool! I sent you a few PMs on the CGC boards. I was able to your books you posted for grading opinions--good thing you said it was a month ago or I would have kept looking. Lol
that's why I did it, just in case of flood. One more comic drawer question, I'm still loading mine, but I feel that as my collection grows, I'm not going to be able to keep all in alpha order, unless I shift all of them when one drawer fills. How do you handle your growing collection with drawer organization?
@Burco1 Yeah, looking back those prices seem cheap, but at the time, $325 for a comic was still a lot of money. I've got Overstreet Guides going back to the 2nd or third edition or so and some of those prices will make you shake your head.
Nice books! I also had a lost chance to buy AF15, but mine was at $1000 about 15 years ago, which would have been a great buy! I also see I did what you did with the comic drawers, by building a platform.
@Burco1 As for sending any of the books to CGC, I've thought about the #1 and #14...I'm a bit hesitant about putting them in the mail, though, even with insurance. One of these days I'll just likely bring them to one of the NY cons that CGC attends and do it that way. I've also debated whether I should have the cover to #1 pressed before I do that, as I believe it wouldn't be considered restoration and might bump up the grade a bit. And, yes, without Mom, none of this would have been possible!
Those 1980 prices on your comics are interesting. It shows you and us how your collection has appreciated over the last 30 years!! Of course it always a plus to have a supportive mom who also loves comics! Are you going to send any of your Amazing Spiderman comics to CGC?
I have many reprints too, but I much prefer having the originals. The reprints don't have the original ads, letters and stuff..or the smell of 1960's paper and ink! :)
I'm kamenliter on there as well. Cool, Primetime! :) I'll look for you...I'm crazy busy this weekend, as I'm prepping for a comic show in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ tomorrow (Sunday March 24th). I'll be selling my wares and doing sketches etc...much left to do tonite! ttyl.
Dude, can you do a video of your favorites comics of Deadpool please. Because i just can buy on internet and i want to know if you can do that video, please. Please
I've only got a handful of Deadpool comics, all recent. Nothing very exciting to do a video on. I'm sure there are lots of videos you can find on RUclips with Deadpool.
I sell some stuff from time to time on Ebay. Usually doubles, or comics I'm not as interested in anymore...not big ticket books, though. Every now and then I'll sell a Spidey or FF in lower grade when I acquire an upgrade. An AF15 would be an awesome book to have - I have a feeling you'll get a copy one day.
haha well thanks for the offer...I think a #3 at the moment is still out of my price range...and even still, I think I have a sentimental attachment to that beat up copy. :)
Ah ok no worries. I like the lower grade ones too, gives them that great vintage look. I literally just inherited my dads old collection so I’m already trying to fill in the gaps lol.
That’s awesome. Hope you got some good ones. Yeah I’d still like a nicer copy of this one lol. I upgraded my #17 a few years ago but I couldn’t bring myself to sell my old one.

Aghh! Sorry to hear that. Grading is of course subjective, but sorry it was off by that much. Buying raw books online is always a tough call; I prefer to see in person before I buy but it’s not always possible.
$80 for #9 AMSPM in 1979 was way overpriced...I bought #18 at a comic shop in 1977 for $7.50 just to give u an example..i could have bought #1 for 250 that same year.....of course this is my opinion on recollections from the 70`s lol
My memory might be off, maybe it was less. Also, #18 and #9 is a big difference, plus the two years in between..and of course, the condition is what matters most. $250 for a Spidey #1 in 1977 sounds about right for a book in VG+/F- condition. I'd have to take a look at my old Overstreet Guides to get a better idea.
kamenliter I think your memory is off. I'm looking at the 1978 Overstreet Price Guide and a #9 in "Mint" is listed at $27. Or maybe the dealer did indeed want $80 and that's why your mom told you NFW. lol. God bless our comic book moms for financing our adolescent addiction.
bianchi1885 Yeah, I guess I'm totally off…maybe it was $20? At that price, though, I'm wondering why we just didn't buy it…here's a photo of the actual comic in question, with my mom holding it and me looking on. tinyurl.com/mhuxpe8
Since this video I’ve had the #4 pressed and graded (CGC 4.5 restored -slight color touch), #5 (CGC 6.0), and the #8 (not graded). I’ll have more done eventually.
That's not exactly the situation. In 1979 my mom bought for me for my birthday The Amazing Spider-Man #1. At the time, she was offered Amazing Fantasy #15. I don't recall that part, but that's what she says and it's also what Richie Munchin of Tomorrow's Treasures, the dealer (who is still in business) recalls as well. I still see him at shows from time to time. She wanted to get me the #1 as she knew that I wanted that and, of course, back then, for the most part, #1's were the big deal. if I had been directly asked about the AF 15, I don't remember. @Red Pilled Whitey I've thought about that, but I believe they'd need to cut out the areas with the color touch on it. I'd rather keep it intact then have it defaced even further. It might get the blue label, but aesthetically I don't think it would look as good.
@Red Pilled Whitey Thanks, yeah, I've thought about it and did a bit of research on it. It would seem that they'd likely need to literally cut out the parts that have the color touch on it, leaving behind a hole in the cover. So, technically, yes, the color touch might be gone and it could get graded with a blue label, but aesthetically it would look defaced (more so than the almost undetectable color touch). So, for now, I'll just leave it as is.
Richard sold me a ASM 129 VF/NM in 2012.. Came back 7.0 last yr. Needless to say his grading is terrible and left a sour taste in my mouth from that book.. Never again would I shop there. If your gonna sell comic books for so many yrs learn to grade properly.
