I had to stop playing this game. This is the first ac game that just bored the hell out of me, and i love the series! At first it was alright. I had put 50 hours into it, and 35 of those hours was spent exploring and questing. 50 hours and i still didn't unlock all the map cause i got tired of running around trying to complete it. The story is boring, the characters are boring, the combat got tedious. I played and beaten ac1, ac2, brotherhood, revelations, ac3, ac4, ac unity, syndicate and origins. I thought ac3, unity, and syndicate were the weakest titles in the series, but i still didnt get this bored. Idk maybe i just need a break from the game.

The different is that when you unlocked a skill in Origins, you keep it. While in Odyssey you can only pick 4 abilities at a time.
Also there's 4 different Bow types in Origins, while in Odyssey you have one Bow, which can do different styles, but cost adrenaline to use each one. Odyssey combat in more challenging, because it limits you. But in Origins you have more freedom.

Hey Good Video, at the moment im actually playing though Odyssey, And for the most part what you were saying was basically all true. The game is *SO DAMN* Hit or miss, from it's Story, world, and gameplay. Though i can say it does improve on small things compare to Origins, but in a lot of way feels like it took a couple of steps back from what made Origins and this series So Great. The world of Odyssey is very beautiful, and i really love the setting, Just It feels lifeless and empty compare to Origins Egypt, when Egypt had a certain charm to it's empty deserts, Odyssey's empty lands just well feel boring. (But besides that both are Great Maps) Side quests are opinion was, for me Origins quests felt more worth doing, because they showed or would teach about Egypt, it's people and about Bayek past. Odyssey quests are done in a better way, but felt pointless. And actually some throw away quests had more interesting ideas for a quest, than the actual main quests.
Gameplay is pretty fun, (only because i had it on easy mode, made the enemy's a lot less damage sponges) but to Damn limited with its abilities, (which are actually pretty sick) to make it a true improvement over Origins combat, though i do like the armor customization. In Origins every skill was useful and would improve gameplay in some way, while allowing the player to keep it threw the whole game. Though the bows Abilities did make Odyssey gameplay more of a challenge, It just really suck not have different bows types in Odyssey.
I do appreciate, that there trying out a new storyline, focusing on a family story plot than The Assassin's vs Templars. But it was so Hit or miss, sometimes in the same scenes, some part's being laughable bad, then just to end on a really Good note, or the other way around. (was just jarring) Origins story, wasn't anything new, but it was deep and subtle, and always left me wanting more in a good way. Plus the opening scene of Origins had me hooked, while in Odyssey it took me at least 15 hours to get somewhat interested in the story. Also Bayek was Amazing, and nether Alexios or kassandra aren't even close. But Weren't bad ether, just average.
I did enjoy Odyssey, and i can easily say it was probability some of the most fun i ever had in a AC game. But I can get a free game like warframe or whatever, just to have Fun. After i finished Odyssey story i struggled to even come back to it. Were Origins had me coming back, months afterwards just to take out enemy camps, because Origins had the AC magic at its core, Odyssey didn't. 6/10

    • @Max1990Power
      @Max1990Power 3 года назад

great analysis. For me I give it a 8/10. I liked Alexios and I liked Kassandra as Deimos. I also love the greece setting and the architecture. I have been to Greece many times so i enjoyed visiting these locations again. But Ac valhalla i give a 9/10 :) Also I liked the story about the prototemplars arc and the family arc. The Atlantis arc was more confusing. And the sidequests in the dlcs felt a lot like a checklist sadly.

The only positive thing I could say about this game is that graphically its really pretty. All other aspects of the game fall short of any level of rudimentary polish. The game is a complete mess and it's clear just how rushed it was during development. Everything feels copy pasted and even though it appears to be a game chock full of content, if you actually pay attention to whats being offered you'll find it completely devoid of substance. The main quest and side quests are just boring top to bottom. I really enjoyed origins and how it refreshed the series, Bayek 100% needs a sequel in Ancient Rome. This game in comparison is an embarrassment to the series.

The game is a big rpg, a lot of exploration, weapon variety, great combat, tons of gear to collect, tons of interesting sidequests, multiple main quests i could go on and on. So how is this a game that nobody asked for? The things mentioned above are exactly what rpgamers always complain to not having enough of. So ubisoft observed demands, put everything in their game and then people complain that it's too "bloated". Next year people will complain about a game being too graphically beautiful

Jeff Ambos that handful of people were complaining about this games existence since the announcement leaked. And been coming out with every reason video why it’s wrong before it came out and any little excuse now to continue hating it. And the obsession with Bayek is just an excuse to gloss over the fact it’s basically the same game just much better. But unfortunately it doesn’t meet the philosophy of this Alt Lite AC crew. No surprise they hate Syndicate too and see it as a personal insult to them. They are alt lite all the way , down to their haircuts and their group of sad boy supporters.

I wouldn't have had a problem with Ubisoft making an RPG if they hadn't tried to slap the assassin's creed title on it. This good have just been a cool rpg set in Ancient Greece, but for whatever reason they felt the need to loosely tie it in with the assassin's creed universe

I agree. I really like the gameplay and the RPG elements but I just could not get passed the boring characters and inconsistent story. I kept waiting for the story to progress with some sort of climax, and then end with some kind of revelation through the main character growing in some way. We saw that with Ezio realizing his constant need for revenge wasn't the right way to go about life. We saw it in black flag when all of Edward's friends had died and he realized he couldn't keep going the way he was. But I feel like the choices in this game really muted that aspect of the story. You kill the cult members, and then you have a faceoff with your other sibling with little-to-no build up. I always loved the story of the original games, and even Origins given that it was consistent in Bayek's attitude toward what he had done to his child. But this just fell flat for me in terms of story and was very disappointing in that aspect.

If odyssey was a bayek sequel it should be set in any other region

The combat in Odyssey is more refined than origins but that doesn’t make it better, it’s so spongey and tedious, it’s the same concept as the huge map, it’s not necessary, they just think it looks cool and they think combat that takes longer makes it more challenging, when in reality it’s very easy, just really long.

The setting thing I’d say is justifiable, as to why they went back a few centuries instead of continuing with the previous protagonist. It is an interesting time in ancient Greece. In the period of the Ptolemaic Egypt Greece was nothing more than a Roman colony, really minimising the “value” of a Greek setting.
Other than that, can’t argue at all. Great review!

I enjoyed it a lot. I would rather have a long story and gameplay mechanics with so many stuff to do than a short money grab of a game. If you want a short, linear game, go and play Spiderman or god of war or tomb raider or destiny 2. I like all of those games except destiny by the way. People are too harsh at this game. It has provided way more things to do and play than even red dead 2. I loved the big world. Made me feel like I am playing a next gen game. This game and the world made me awe even more than red dead 2. You're blaming the game because there is so much to do that it is easy to pin point the faults whereas shorter games get by your criticism because lesser content. I felt more work was put in this game than even god of war

I’m a huge Witcher 3 fan, the games mechanics are very similar so there’s is that, of course it does not compare to Witcher 3 but it is very similar in terms of gameplay. Sprinkle in Greek mythology and you have a game that’s very enjoyable.

Idk about to long, i think as much content as they can pack into a massive open world AAA title they should. But I agree that it's the most overwhelming game I've played to date. Its far more large in terms of quests, things to upgrades and locations to discover compared to a colossal game like RDR2 I never felt overwhelmed to the point of idk when ill find the time to do all this in RDR2 but in AC odyssey I still don't know when I'll finish every little area much less all the dlc quests this game has. That narrative was so dumb. I didn’t give a damn about her family she had Marcos and phoebe and I just couldn’t see the point of wanted her family back. I killed the dad becuase well I thought he was an asshole but that means getting the ending where EVERY ONE DIES and I was like wtf . This was a huge waste of time and wasn’t somthing I wanted to do in the first place. Secondly I wasn’t allowed to play stealthy I would do an “assassination” on someone my level and only do 1/4 damage for no reason and then had to fight 36 guys at once. That was every mission...
