This almost made me sad thinking of my childhood, in and out of the hospital for tests and surgery... to me it was just normal and now as a 24 year old I know how abnormal a childhood it really was. Listening to people talk about their adulthood surgeries and knowing I had to deal with such scary things as young as 6 months old. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with medical challenges, at any age, but especially to those dealing with it as children. It's a childhood no one should have.
Molly Burke you are so inspirational to me xx you never let your blindness get you down, you just embrace it and do your best to help others xxx you are my absolute role model I don’t know how you do it but I love you for it xxx lots of love georgie xxxx😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG yes, the horror!! The anesthesiologist bill even with PPO insurance :O I cried and stressed when that bill came in a week after surgery... yeah I'm still paying it off... slowly.
If you ever follow medical instagrams there's always those dicks saying "Why did they wait so long?" Like I don't know Aaron maybe because they don't have insurance or less than $50 to their name? Like damn who do you think pays for medical care?
I had surgery on my leg when I was 14. Before I was brought in my doctor asked what music I liked to listen to. I was kinda confused by the random question so I said something like "I don't know Shakira." The first thing I heard when they wheeled me in was Hips Don't Lie. I'm sure he turned it off as soon as I was under but it was nice of him to try and make me comfortable considering how scary surgery can be.
I can almost guarantee you they didn't turn it off! hahaha doctors and nurses LOVE operating with music on! Especially if it's upbeat like Shakira haha
I work in surgery as one of those people who waves at you from the corner all dressed in a blue gown and mask and gloves that you never see again. A lot of times we can forget how much anxiety people have around being so exposed because we do several surgeries every day. Everyone conceptually knows that healthcare workers don’t care what you look like but as soon as it’s you on the table it becomes different. Anyway thanks for sharing your stories I’m glad y’all are healthy and doing well
Ray C I started my training to be a surgical nurse a few months ago and I also find it interesting to hear how people feel before and after surgeries because you do tend to forget about it
Aw thank you so much for your service! My brother was in surgery last month and I personally felt like he had the best care in the world! He may not remember the RNs and other people who helped him but my mom and I sure do. All of them, including the doctors signed a 'Get Well Soon' card for my brother and we stuck it on our fridge once we got home. You guys are the real MVPs because my brother did get a little fussy before surgery because he was nervous and the nurses were so accommodating. I can't imagine going through the same thing multiple times a day. Thank you once again for everything you guys do!
I work in surgery with animals haha. I always tell them to "be a big brave dog". And then I just have to focus on not getting bitten while they recover because they're drugged up and have no idea what happened.
I had surgery last month on the 17. Had 4 fybroid tumor removed from on top and behind my uterus. As soon as the doctor opened me up he and the whole room were shocked because the fybroid they were worried about was bigger than expected it weighed 5 LBS and looked like the head. He said it was the biggest fybroid he's ever removed. Coming out of surgery was scary but all and all I don't regret it. My recovery has been amazing
Nocturnal at night not all the time. Its called anesthesia awareness and alot of hospitals dont have the moniters to see that. you can feel all the cuts . But you cant say that your awake and you cant move. People have said they wanted to die cause it hurt so much. No hate(edit its veryrare

Many people find surgeries extremely interesting. That's why "Dr. Pimple Popper", who was on Ladylike before, is so popular. It's oddly fascinating to watch.
I have woken up during surgery and TBH it's not really scary or anything. Like I think people are scared by the idea of it because they don't know what to expect and media hypes it up. The area gets a local anesthetic too, typically, and it's not like you can see it without trying [possible exceptions being if they have to get your intestines out of the way by hanging them, but then there's usually fabric hung between you and the operation].... and they stop you... like if you try to like lift your head enough to look they get all uppity about it and make you lay still. I mean like I can feel them moving and pulling stuff, but most people don't have that much sensation when they have local anesthetic. If they notice you're awake they'll check your coherence and your blood oxygen levels and then adjust things to get you to go back to sleep. Not actually scary. Don't put off surgery you need just because of that.
I was completely calm before my surgery and i still cried when i woke up because i thought something had gone wrong lol i think things can be overwhelming when you woke up from anaesthesia, especially if it's your first surgery.
sunny , I really think a large part of that is that people expect the surgery to go wrong for some reason, despite that most surgeries are performed thousands of times a day with little incident and that there are so many protocols to keep people safe, or to get your back if something goes wrong. All surgery has risks, but a lot of it is media hype and the way we glorify those one off situations and then dramatify them for reality TV. It hurts real people, and keeps them from getting help that they need, all that hype. Your first surgery will always be a scary thing, but it shouldn't be because of this expectation of disaster reinforced by media. Hype kills.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago for expected skin cancer. It was confirmed that I have skin cancer and I am having to have 3 more different operations in 1 session a week on Tuesday. I’ll be spending my 19th birthday in bed recovering for a month 😖
I had major jaw surgery on Monday and my jaw is wired shut. I'm in some hella pain and I really needed this. Thank y'all sm for brightening my day during the recovery process 💕
I think it is really good that you talk about subjects like this and want to thank you for it. I’m 16 years old about to be 17 but a few days before easter I had an emergency surgery on my eye after a field hockey accident. I remember that I was so calm yet so scared because it happened only a few hours after the accident. Through youtubers talking about surgeries and the frights of Anastasia I’m learning bit by bit to accept what happened and to accept my loss of vision, I can only see 30% of what I saw without a correction lens. I’ve been looking up to you ladies for a while now and it feels reassuring to know that even people I look up to aren’t perfect and can know what I’ve been going through. Thank you, Love, Jitske

Just know that there are people that totally know where you've been. Just out of left field, something took something from them. I personally went to therapy for it, and don't feel ashamed if you have to talk it out. I have come to learn it's a concept of grieving what you expected for your life. You expected to have what already had. In my case, I was a fully, emotionally functioning adult. Today? I am cheered on for taking walks to a subway maybe an hour away. But I didn't think I'd be here. And that's what I'm greiving. The loss of wanting to go to college or doing something I can't do now. Just know it's completely normal. I wish you all the best of luck! ♡♡♡
I've had breast reduction surgery and I was really scared and panicking hard before going in the operation room. However it's all worth it especially when your life quality gets so much better that you are actually able to enjoy life to the max. Bless all the amazing doctors out there who care about their patients' happiness and well-being.

I'm glad people are positive about plastic surgery. Like my grandparents were against me having an ear surgery because they were protruding, and ofc in your case it's more about life quality. But still I was so happy to see a doctor that was super happy about me getting happier if I change a part of my body that had been giving me issues.
hanna meier - it’s kinda like that here too, we just pay through our high taxes... and our taxes are outrageously high compared to other comparable countries.... but for our taxes we get healthcare, school from kindergarten to uni, with pay from 18 years old, we get a bunch of other things too ( like roads and stuff) but those two are the once that really makes living here great.... We have laws that say we MUST attend school, and even though we have our free public school system there are Privat schools, just like there are private hospitals.... And even though we have free healthcare, there are rules in place, so things like elective surgery we have to pay for ourselves.... there has to be a medical reason for surgery ;) So free - yeah... but the state keeps about 40% of our paycheck.... 60 if you have a very high income..... so not so free really....
In the UK health care is free for everyone too. The National Health Service (NHS) is paid for through taxation. I have no idea how much my hospital treatment and care would have cost.
I had a total thyroidectomy right before my 16th birthday. They gave me a shot of some pink liquid beforehand to relax me, and the last thing I remember was princess-waving to the nurses as I was being wheeled down to the operating room. I don't even remember going under the anesthesia. Recovery sucked because I had trouble drinking liquids for a week and my voice was really quiet. I was lucky my family could afford the medical care.
I actually have a tumor in my left breast as well and i'm also 17 lol... it isnt that large, so i wont get it removed any time soon (esp cuz i dont wanna lose school) but this was really helpful for me, so thanks Chantel :D
Stephanie Kieler if you're on your parents insurance and they can afford it, try to get it done before you lose coverage and have to pay for it yourself because your first insurance alone may not be a good as the one your parents have
alistercat thanks for the tip, i've been thinking about getting it removed honestly but i really dont wanna miss school (since im writing my finals this school year) so i'd have to do it in the holidays which is just kinda sad :( also my mom is against me removing it unless its causing me too much discomfort and pain. Also im lowkey terrified of the operation lolol But seriously thanks for caring, you're all super nice
Ok, I've had LOTS of surgery. Beginning of the Summer I saw something that really made a lot of sense....."Scars are tattoos with better stories". Just thought I would share.
No lie. Totally needed this video. I’ve had plenty of surgeries and am having my (hopefully) final one in about a month. But I put off this surgery for so long (two years) after knowing I needed it for a better life. I actually did wake up during a surgery once. I didn’t remember any of it but the surgeon told me I did after the fact. Scary stuff.

Spacekruxo grateful* sorry but there’s some mean people on the internet that will say some mean shit for a spelling/ grammar errors, just didn’t want anyone being mean to you ☹️
I had my acl repaired in April and I’m still struggling with walking normally. I walk with a bit of a limp and I have so much anxiety thinking about all the things that may go wrong. I’m so glad you have such a positive outlook and it’s going to help a lot through your recovery. I hope you’re better soon
I don't know if you guys will see this, but thank you so much for this video. I had a hysterectomy almost a year ago for a tumor that ended up being benign. It creates a lot of fears and emotions, and I really appreciate hearing stories that can relate. Glad everything went well for you two, and thank you so much for sharing.
By the time I was 12 I’d had at least 13 surgeries, and I’m heading towards my (hopefully) final one this year at 17. And I can tell you that, anaesthesia never gets less scary, waking up is always the worst part, and the surgery is just the beginning, it’s the recovery that’s the hard part
I’ve had open heart surgery and it was incredibly scary but I’m so glad I had it before my heart was permanently damaged otherwise now I would’ve been very sick and on a waiting list for a heart transplant. Loved this video ❤️
I'm glad you ladies have come out on the other side safe and sound! I have had 2 minor interventions in which I have momentarily sort of woken up, but always go back to sleep. And I remember what I saw on both occasions. It's always comforting to know that I'm not alone in the fear of waking up mid-surgery.
kim mcdonald it costs money to keep eggs on ice. It might be a better option to go the adoption route. Especially if you want to wait to have kids. #justsaying
Put word out to friends and family that you are looking for a baby. We met a lady at church who was newly converted and faced a dilemma in which she had gotten pregnant and didn't want it. She saw my family and said "I wish my baby could grow up in a home like yours" and my mom said "I'll take it". We were all excited but unfortunately she miscarried a couple weeks later. But I knew someone that got 2 babies like that. People get pregnant by accident and it turns into a Juno situation.
Thanks ladies! I have knee surgery this week and I am watching videos because I am freaking out and can’t sleep. High fives for a nice calm and reasonable discussion! I am feeling much better about everything, keep up the good work!

I had 6 surgeries in the last 13 months! I was kind of looking forward to being put under because I have little ones at home and really needed some sleep! 😁 And for 4 of the surgeries I had a new born... so I need to catch up on more sleep!!! My family and so friends really help in some amazing ways, I couldn't have done it without them!!!
My mom got a mastectomy the other day and I showed her this video before to calm her fears. It made her feel a lot better and even joked afterward asking if she “still had an ovary” and agreeing with Chantel about how much she wanted to go back to sleep. Thanks guys for helping out my mom!
I totally agree with Chantel. I had a surgery on my left breast and God knows how uncomfortable it is when you give your body to stangers and they do something with it that you can’t control while you’re unconscious. And it feels extra weird when you’re young, inexperienced and wanted to "save" intimacy for someone special. I know of course that it’s not a real intimacy and that it's all professional. They are saving you life but still, they are strangers and do stuff with a private area of your body. At least that's how i felt...
When I went under “surgery,” they asked if I wanted a blanket, I said yes, and after the warmth enveloped me, I giggled and knocked out. Those nurses and the surgeon were super nice throughout the whole process. Great experience.
I had surgery to drain an abscess on my gum when I was around 7 or 8 but my most recent surgery that k remember fully was my caesarean 7 months ago. Being 16 I was terrified as you never hear about people this young going in for c-sections, like Chantelle I also didn't like how exposed I was to a bunch of strangers but they were all so comforting and supportive!
when Kristin talked about the anesthesiologist asking her where she wanted to go it reminded me of the time my mom had to get a surgery and the doctors asked her about what kind of music she liked. so during the surgery they played whatever artist she asked them to and was calm the whole time (of course they still put her under). I think it’s important that surgeons do that to make their patients as comfortable as possible.
Your first post operative meal is so nice after starving yourself before surgery. I think they gave me a simple cheese and onion sandwich, but it tasted like ambrosia from the gods.
B oh my god I had the blandest turkey sandwich and chips after a surgery and it tasted like pure bliss hahaha they also gave me a chocolate chip cookie and I remember asking if I could take like 4 more home with me
After my surgery I was so nauseous... The sandwiches made me feel like I was going to be sick again (but at the same time were extremely delicious).... After I got home and was in bed but feeling a bit better, my DH brought me a bowl of doritos and sourdough toast... That tasted incredible (doubly awesome as he never allows food in the bedroom, yet here I was eating IN BED😅)
I remember having a minor surgery when I was 11, I have a chronic illness and to get my medicine I had to have something called a port (they inject the medicine through there) and being absolutely terrified and overwhelmed. The worst part was that the initial surgery went well, but a few months later there were complications and I had to go in for ANOTHER surgery which had a lot more risk. It sucked, no child/teen should ever have to go through that; it’s not fair.
I had surgery at the end of May. A retinal detatchment with fluid on the eye. All done under local anasthetic. It's super scary not being able to see and knowing that someone is poking about the back of your eye with needles and lazers and stitches. Had three days in hospital plus three weeks of posturing (lying down on one side and only being able to move ten mins in an hour) with an extra lazer session to seal more holes in the retina. It wasnt particularly enjoyable but it saved my sight. Genuinely greatful for those in the profession not only he surgeons but also the nurses etc that provide after care. They were the ones dealing with my stress puking and anxiety and upsets.
I’m gonna talk about my sisters crazy surgery cause I’ve never had surgery so this was super crazy and my sister kept vomiting and couldn’t even stand. So everyone assumed her appendix was gonna explode. So they went to the emergency room and it turned out HER OVARIES TWISTED. A cyst was growing on it cause too many hormones idk and it caused her ovaries to twist. (This is super rare, FOR A 12 YR OLD) and if they had came later my sister would have lost her ovaries and not being able to have children. She has recovered and now she’s back to normal!
I wish I had the same anaesthesia experience as Kristen for a cyst removal. I was talking to my mom and I felt a sting in my hand (I had an IV there) and next thing I know I’m waking up five hours later with a mask being forced onto me. I was drowsy and loopy for like 10 hours afterwards and slept for nearly 6 hours 😂
I have had surgery 18 times varying in severity. The 4 open heart surgeries would be the most major. Minus the heart surgeries I wake up STARVING. Food has never tasted as good as it does after surgery. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.

This video made me cry. I went pretty much exactly through Chantel's experience at 20, it was the worst time of my life. I am so completely appreciative of Kristen and Chantel for talking about this.
I also had an ovarian cyst removed but I was 14 when I had my surgery. Getting something like that done is scary no matter how old you are but I feel like being so young made it worse (for me at least) because I didn't fully understand everything. It all turned out fine in the end luckily! The relief of finally have the source of such intense pain gone made the sickness I experienced from the anesthesia all worth it
When I broke my arm when I was nine they also put me to sleep, idk why tho 'cause I heard from a lot of people that they did it when they were awake. Apperently when the doctor started warning my mom about me doing something while sleeping my legs flew up xD After I woke up I was the most annoying person ever. "I'm fine, Let's go home." "No really, I feel great. Let me go home." "I don't have any pain, I wanna go home." After an hour they were so annoyed by me (I mean my parents) that they went up to the doctor and were like "can my daughter go home, she constantly says she's fine and wants to go home" .....They let me go... xD
I cried after my last surgery too! I had no idea why, but I could not control it for the life of me. Eventually the nurse explained that the anesthesia reacts to women's hormones a certain way! Crazy how it all works.
i remember waking during surgery because i was having chills and seizures then remembered how the nurses were frantically trying to turn off the a/c just to make it stop and so an older nurse told me he had a daughter and just tried to soothe/calm me down whilst wiping my tears and told me stories like even tho i dont know his name, im just really thankful. i also remember just crying and laughing when in pain and feeling like i could do any sht after it 🤷♀️ anyways, to y'all going on surgery, it's scary yes but you're gonna come out stronger and braver after all the pain. trust me ✋ good luck!
I was 4 and had my adenoids removed. I went under anesthesia and was screaming because I was 4 and they shoved a needle in my hand. Apparently I woke up screaming too. Fun experiences!
my doctors told me i'm a good candidate for a major surgery the same day this video was posted. and i was feeling scared and stressed... but then i found this video and i feel a little better about it. thanks ladylike
I woke up during both of my surgeries. I didn’t feel anything, but my eyes opened and I heard voices. All I remember both times is someone quickly moving and then I was out again. I also take a long time to wake up. That sleep is good.
I had more than 100 surgeries I have on every month they remove popilomas in my vocal cords...it started when I was 1 now I'm 12. When I was younger that used to do it every 2 times a week. But I'm getting better :) . love you ladylike and have a wonderful day
I had my first surgery at 2... but dont remember it. Between the ages of 22 to 31 i had 12 eye surgeries.. 2 in my blind eye and 10 in my eye i see out of. I have since had 1 additional eye surgery on ky seeing eye and 1 abdominal surgery. The scariest surgery for me was the surgery to correct the issue that was treated by surgery... i walked in being able to drive and walked out legally blind during the original surgery.. so the surgery to redo that surgery that failed was the scariest for me. The oddest surgeries were the eye surgeries being totally awake.. hearing the surgeons music, hearing them talk, and hearing the tools.

I actually found my lump because of their breast exam video. Got it removed a few months ago. Thankfully nothing but you guys helped me find it! Thank you!!
I had to get surgery last yr. I had to get the anesthesia twice because it didnt put me out the 1st time. They said "count backwards from 10 and by time you know it your surgery will be all over" I got to 1 and started singing the song they had playing. They were all in shock. Said it was a 1st for them🤣
Got three surgeries and also the same one than Chantel when I was 17. Unfortunately what we both had is so common as I have two other friends in that case. But my surgery went so well, the best one out of the others. The healing process was so well done! So to anyone in that situation, don’t hesitate :)

The anesthesiologist generally gives you a dose based on your weight. You probably weren’t dosed with the right amount the first time. Or the weight they’d taken was wrong.
Lmao i was so afraid they'd start operating on me when i'm not fully under that i tried to fight off the anaesthesia. The anaesthesiologist had to ask me if my weight was right and told me to enjoy and relax.
When I was only 10 I had a tumor ( benign ) in my left chest cavity. It was really scary because my parents didn’t tell me what was going on. I remember sitting in the bathroom with my dad before the surgery feeling as though I would through up. He had to convince me that everything was going to be ok. And I’m so grateful that it was benign and everything was okay.
My boyfriend just had major surgery for the first time last week for his hernia. I had to reassure him a lot about the anasthesia and waking up confused because worrying about those things caused him quite a lot of anxiety. I was actually so glad that I'd had a total thyroidectomy aged 18 (couldn't eat solid food for 3 days, it even hurt swallow liquids and had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. My bf got to leave the same day lol) I could offer him advice and reassurance that he could trust. Thankfully everything went well and he gained a new appreciation for our national health service while he was there, even if he did have to wait like 6 months to get the surgery in the first place lol. Glad you guys are talking about this, it's so important that people are prepared and know what to expect when they have their first surgery, from someone who actually experienced it. This can relieve a lot of anxiety and stress in the lead up towards the surgery. Which in turn allows them to heal better :)
Hey Ladylike! I love how confident you guys are! I had cateracts when I was 4,5,6, and 7. I’m better now, but it was scary. I love how confident you are (again) in sharing your problems

i had surgery in august 2017. i had a kidney transplant where my father was the donor. i am 15 now and so incredibly thankful. surgery is scary but once you conquer that fear your whole life can truly change.
I had my tonsils out at the age of 26 after having years and years of problems with them, but my doctor wouldn't recommend it unless I had 3 instances in a single year ( I had problems every 6months). Finally after having an 2 abscesses, and mono (which caused my tonsils to swell so that the tonsils touched) in the same year they ok'd it. However, they didn't really want to let me bc 26 is really old to get them taken out. After I was referred to the doctor who would be doing my surgery, I was once again questioned as to wether I was sure I wanted them removed. I told them yes, bc it's really becoming a problem. I was mostly calm about it, and then a news story about a little girl who died from the exact same surgery came out. I was understanding that sometimes things happen, but I knew if I didn't get it taken care of now, I never would. My mom on the other hand was extremely nervous. When I went into surgery, I remember laying down, and as soon as they started the drip I was out. I woke up and sat up, and the nurse that was there walked (yes I walked) me back to the room where my mom was waiting. I then waited until they would let me go, and then they wheeled me out to the entrance. After we got in my mom's van, she and I picked up my brother. She asked if I was up to do anything. I told her I wanted to eat at Noodles & Co. ( I'd never been there) So just an hour and a half after I had my tonsils out I'm eating mac n cheese. The worst part ended up being the after effects of the anesthesia, but I don't regret it one bit. Sorry for the long comment!
i had two back surgeries and i’m just 14. i had one when i was 12 and the other at 13, i’ve been blessed with so many things and people and i’m glad you’re talking about your experiences. my first wasn’t the best, but now i’ve come out on the other side
It's interesting, I'm a highly anxious person, but surgery and anesthesia have never bothered me. I've only had one surgery (oral, to remove my only wisdom tooth), but have gone under anesthesia twice (once for the oral surgery, once for an upper GI scope). Both times, I went under pretty quickly and woke up right as they expected.
Kirsten thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm getting a cyst removed in surgery literally on Tuesday and was wondering how it was gonna go. Thank you for the encouragement 💜
I remember when I had to do my biopsy, I was so scared to get it done. And the volunteer who helped get ready for the procedure just held my hand and told me "Don't worry hun, it's going to be ok. Just pray to God that you will be fine. And everything will be alright." That definitely calmed me down. But the waking up was hard. I knew I was being wheeled out into recovery, so when I heard my nurse's voice and my mom's, I was trying to wake up but I couldn't. So when I did try to sit up and open my eyes. My mom was there and she said "sleepy head! You gotta wake up." I just slammed my head against the pillow again
I dislocated my elbow & also broke it in two places (on my 17th birthday a few months ago). When my ulna broke it hit a nerve and I wasn’t able to move my hand/fingers for a couple months. I had to have surgery the following day Side note: I’m doing much better now, my hand/fingers can move again, and I’m on my last couple weeks of occupational therapy, I’m very close to full range of motion 😊
Kacey Rogers glad to hear you are healing well, I crushed my ulnar nerve but left it too long before getting the surgery, even though I had the surgery the nerve is down to about 17% function and half my hand is kinda numb
Kristin's story really spoke to me. I'm 15 and I also got a laproscopic surgery this year because of ovarian toursion. Sadly, I lost it but there is still always hope, right? I wish I saw this earlier ❤
Thanks Kristin. I'm going in for Laparoscopic surgery in two weeks and am terrified of it. This video couldn't have come at a better time. Wish my luck!

I feel you. I had 42 surgeries before my 18th birthday.
Why did you have to have those surgeries?
Surgery isn't the scariest part. In the United States, it's the bills.
OMG yes, the horror!! The anesthesiologist bill even with PPO insurance :O I cried and stressed when that bill came in a week after surgery... yeah I'm still paying it off... slowly.
You don't even know -_-
Yeah, I'm not remotely scared of doctors or surgery, but I don't ever go to the doctor because of the cost.
If you ever follow medical instagrams there's always those dicks saying "Why did they wait so long?" Like I don't know Aaron maybe because they don't have insurance or less than $50 to their name? Like damn who do you think pays for medical care?
And yet Americans vote millionärs into power who don't know the struggle ... what's wrong with this picture?
I had surgery on my leg when I was 14. Before I was brought in my doctor asked what music I liked to listen to. I was kinda confused by the random question so I said something like "I don't know Shakira." The first thing I heard when they wheeled me in was Hips Don't Lie. I'm sure he turned it off as soon as I was under but it was nice of him to try and make me comfortable considering how scary surgery can be.
I can almost guarantee you they didn't turn it off! hahaha doctors and nurses LOVE operating with music on! Especially if it's upbeat like Shakira haha
That sounds fantastic. Imagine if they spent the whole surgery just bopping to Shakira.
I had surgery on my foot when I was 13, and when my doctor asked what music I liked I said “something emo” and the doctor put on screamo 😂
Melo they say your subconscious is listening and can make the “ healing process “ a but quicker but who knows lol
I had an MRI and they played my favourite radio station
"BRIAN DO I STILL HAVE AN OVARY?!"
Me af 🤣
"Yes Kristen do I need to write it down?!"
Yeah you gotta think about it like they see this everyday and that idea relaxes me.
I work in surgery with animals haha. I always tell them to "be a big brave dog". And then I just have to focus on not getting bitten while they recover because they're drugged up and have no idea what happened.
I remember no one waving at me from the corner ... I remember someone stroking my temples and my hair. Do you do that, too?
I had surgery last month on the 17. Had 4 fybroid tumor removed from on top and behind my uterus. As soon as the doctor opened me up he and the whole room were shocked because the fybroid they were worried about was bigger than expected it weighed 5 LBS and looked like the head. He said it was the biggest fybroid he's ever removed. Coming out of surgery was scary but all and all I don't regret it. My recovery has been amazing
That is so good you are recovering well!!
I get so scared of waking up during an operation and feeling everything
Ishan Ali but they'd put you back to sleep straight away, most likely you'd not even remember waking up during if you did
Nocturnal at night not all the time. Its called anesthesia awareness and alot of hospitals dont have the moniters to see that. you can feel all the cuts . But you cant say that your awake and you cant move. People have said they wanted to die cause it hurt so much. No hate(edit its veryrare
shootingstar girl Aww that's horrible. I respect all that had to go through that
You are everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mom had a tumor that they had to take out when she was pregnant with me so she couldn’t be under anything. She’s awesome.
,,I'm ready for a burrito" Chantel is so me xD
Does anyone else find stuff like this really interesting?

Many people find surgeries extremely interesting. That's why "Dr. Pimple Popper", who was on Ladylike before, is so popular. It's oddly fascinating to watch.
Yh I'm a weirdo
Don't put off surgery you need just because of that.
thank you for sharing your experience, you've given me some peace of mind as i have surgery next week
Hype kills.
we're all so glad you guys are good and okay now!

Weirdest feeling in the world is being awake during your surgery. 😜 no worries, it was a c section....
Yes!! Lol
I had surgery 3 weeks ago for expected skin cancer. It was confirmed that I have skin cancer and I am having to have 3 more different operations in 1 session a week on Tuesday. I’ll be spending my 19th birthday in bed recovering for a month 😖
Kirst Tea good luck & blessings to you x
How did you even get it..?
Kirst Tea I wish you the best
Honey Dew cell mutations
Good luck!👍
Thank you,
Love,

Yasmina El Hoyek how was that for you? I’m supposed to get my reduction in December

I'm glad people are positive about plastic surgery. Like my grandparents were against me having an ear surgery because they were protruding, and ofc in your case it's more about life quality. But still I was so happy to see a doctor that was super happy about me getting happier if I change a part of my body that had been giving me issues.
My operation would have costed about 40000$ but in denmark health care is free because we have high taxes lucky me
hanna meier - it’s kinda like that here too, we just pay through our high taxes... and our taxes are outrageously high compared to other comparable countries.... but for our taxes we get healthcare, school from kindergarten to uni, with pay from 18 years old, we get a bunch of other things too ( like roads and stuff) but those two are the once that really makes living here great....
We have laws that say we MUST attend school, and even though we have our free public school system there are Privat schools, just like there are private hospitals....
And even though we have free healthcare, there are rules in place, so things like elective surgery we have to pay for ourselves.... there has to be a medical reason for surgery ;)
So free - yeah... but the state keeps about 40% of our paycheck.... 60 if you have a very high income..... so not so free really....
Jesper Sand Krogh wow. That’s great! What kind of surgery did you have?
Payton i broke my arm and they had to put som wire in my arm for a month
In the UK health care is free for everyone too. The National Health Service (NHS) is paid for through taxation. I have no idea how much my hospital treatment and care would have cost.
i hear about that! aren’t braces free in denmark as well?
In Britain we have free healthcare🤕 no bills but it’s in our taxes🤷🏻♀️
Only here to comment of course it’s in your taxes ;)
Same in Canada
Same in sweden :)
Glad they could open up abt serious topics like this
I had a total thyroidectomy right before my 16th birthday.
Colleen Scott hey, I had thyroidectomy too, but when I was 13
I actually have a tumor in my left breast as well and i'm also 17 lol... it isnt that large, so i wont get it removed any time soon (esp cuz i dont wanna lose school) but this was really helpful for me, so thanks Chantel :D
Hope everything goes smoothly when it does happen
sOMeBoDy important thanks so much
Hope everything works out god bless you
Stephanie Kieler if you're on your parents insurance and they can afford it, try to get it done before you lose coverage and have to pay for it yourself because your first insurance alone may not be a good as the one your parents have
alistercat thanks for the tip, i've been thinking about getting it removed honestly but i really dont wanna miss school (since im writing my finals this school year) so i'd have to do it in the holidays which is just kinda sad :( also my mom is against me removing it unless its causing me too much discomfort and pain. Also im lowkey terrified of the operation lolol
But seriously thanks for caring, you're all super nice

I’ve had surgery once and it was on my knee and now I can only walk with a leg brace but I am so great full that I can still walk
Spacekruxo grateful* sorry but there’s some mean people on the internet that will say some mean shit for a spelling/ grammar errors, just didn’t want anyone being mean to you ☹️
What happened?
Aww you poor thing I hope your okay ❤️
I had my acl repaired in April and I’m still struggling with walking normally. I walk with a bit of a limp and I have so much anxiety thinking about all the things that may go wrong. I’m so glad you have such a positive outlook and it’s going to help a lot through your recovery. I hope you’re better soon
Spacekruxo I’ve had a knee surgery 3 weeks ago
I don't know if you guys will see this, but thank you so much for this video. I had a hysterectomy almost a year ago for a tumor that ended up being benign. It creates a lot of fears and emotions, and I really appreciate hearing stories that can relate. Glad everything went well for you two, and thank you so much for sharing.
first time i woke up from general anesthesia i opened my eyes and thought i went blind, turns out they'd put an ice pack over my eyes.
Kristin, you should have your eggs frozen in case you and up losing your other ovary in the future, if you haven't already.
kim mcdonald it costs money to keep eggs on ice. It might be a better option to go the adoption route. Especially if you want to wait to have kids. #justsaying
auntiea2002 adoption can be very costly as well, not to mention the hoop jumping...it's a rough world for ladies with reproductive issues...
My cousin had two babies from frozen eggs and they are sooooo adorable!
Thanks ladies! I have knee surgery this week and I am watching videos because I am freaking out and can’t sleep. High fives for a nice calm and reasonable discussion! I am feeling much better about everything, keep up the good work!
I'm just going to say one thing: Anesthesia awareness...
I don't need nightmares today no thanks

My worst fear
I had 6 surgeries in the last 13 months! I was kind of looking forward to being put under because I have little ones at home and really needed some sleep! 😁 And for 4 of the surgeries I had a new born... so I need to catch up on more sleep!!! My family and so friends really help in some amazing ways, I couldn't have done it without them!!!
*i love how most of the crew is not in some of the videos like these ones,,,but kristin made it to every single one*
I love and relate to Kristin so much!
If a root canal counts as surgery than yes I have had surgery. But other than that no I havent.
LADYLIKE MUKBANG! LADYLIKE MUKBANG! LADYLIKE MUKBANG!
Red Curtis weird
Red Curtis yasss I would love to see this
I don't think christen needs to eat any more.
when Kristin talked about the anesthesiologist asking her where she wanted to go it reminded me of the time my mom had to get a surgery and the doctors asked her about what kind of music she liked. so during the surgery they played whatever artist she asked them to and was calm the whole time (of course they still put her under).
It sucked, no child/teen should ever have to go through that; it’s not fair.
had an ovarian cyst when I was 13.. twice! only have one ovary left.
had 8 surgeries on my stomach.
I just turned 18, I’m going into a major surgery in two weeks and i think this was the best timing video of my life. Thank you so much
I wish I had the same anaesthesia experience as Kristen for a cyst removal.
Yall are so BRAVE!!!!

This video made me cry. I went pretty much exactly through Chantel's experience at 20, it was the worst time of my life. I am so completely appreciative of Kristen and Chantel for talking about this.
I had surgery on my birthday 😂
And like 5 days ago 😂
I also had an ovarian cyst removed but I was 14 when I had my surgery. Getting something like that done is scary no matter how old you are but I feel like being so young made it worse (for me at least) because I didn't fully understand everything. It all turned out fine in the end luckily! The relief of finally have the source of such intense pain gone made the sickness I experienced from the anesthesia all worth it
When I broke my arm when I was nine they also put me to sleep, idk why tho 'cause I heard from a lot of people that they did it when they were awake.
Apperently when the doctor started warning my mom about me doing something while sleeping my legs flew up xD
After I woke up I was the most annoying person ever. "I'm fine, Let's go home." "No really, I feel great. Let me go home." "I don't have any pain, I wanna go home." After an hour they were so annoyed by me (I mean my parents) that they went up to the doctor and were like "can my daughter go home, she constantly says she's fine and wants to go home"
.....They let me go... xD
Jaxay Sky same with me! But i hadent even left the hospital and i fainted 😂 so had to stay there for another hour
I cried after my last surgery too! I had no idea why, but I could not control it for the life of me. Eventually the nurse explained that the anesthesia reacts to women's hormones a certain way! Crazy how it all works.
Im scared of waking up in the middle of the operation
i remember waking during surgery because i was having chills and seizures then remembered how the nurses were frantically trying to turn off the a/c just to make it stop and so an older nurse told me he had a daughter and just tried to soothe/calm me down whilst wiping my tears and told me stories like even tho i dont know his name, im just really thankful. i also remember just crying and laughing when in pain and feeling like i could do any sht after it 🤷♀️
anyways, to y'all going on surgery, it's scary yes but you're gonna come out stronger and braver after all the pain. trust me ✋ good luck!
I had a tumor on my ovary that killed the ovary so I had to get it removed....I WAS NINE 😂😂
But I'm getting better :) . love you ladylike and have a wonderful day
Daniella .C omg that's so scary, I'm so sorry! I hope you never have to get a surgery again. Hopefully you're okay!
@@emilydebre6376 I'm still getting then every month
@@emilydebre6376 and thx u ❤🖤😘
The MARSHAS 😂

I actually found my lump because of their breast exam video. Got it removed a few months ago. Thankfully nothing but you guys helped me find it! Thank you!!
I had to get surgery last yr. I had to get the anesthesia twice because it didnt put me out the 1st time. They said "count backwards from 10 and by time you know it your surgery will be all over" I got to 1 and started singing the song they had playing. They were all in shock. Said it was a 1st for them🤣
Nik Nak what song was it?
Got three surgeries and also the same one than Chantel when I was 17. Unfortunately what we both had is so common as I have two other friends in that case. But my surgery went so well, the best one out of the others. The healing process was so well done! So to anyone in that situation, don’t hesitate :)
I've been under anesthesia before and I woke up after 5 minutes of being under and they had to give me more

scary!
My boyfriend's IV blew and he started to wake up. He like barely remembers it thankfully
Hey can Kristen make a video about her PCOS, I thought it was Mentioned in a past video briefly.
I'm so proud of these two ladies. They are so strong.
I love this omg

i had surgery in august 2017. i had a kidney transplant where my father was the donor. i am 15 now and so incredibly thankful. surgery is scary but once you conquer that fear your whole life can truly change.
Kirasha Keshnaier I had my tonsils out when I was 7. I think I got sick too much that year. Maybe 6 times
Haha I just got them out and I have more pain that I thought I would have...
i had two back surgeries and i’m just 14. i had one when i was 12 and the other at 13, i’ve been blessed with so many things and people and i’m glad you’re talking about your experiences. my first wasn’t the best, but now i’ve come out on the other side
As a registered nurse I will say it is totally okay to cry in the post op period - and to ask questions! I loved hearing these perspectives!
i just had surgery for the first time on monday and it was terrifying
it feels cool to have someone else understand something that’s so much a part of my life
Kirsten thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm getting a cyst removed in surgery literally on Tuesday and was wondering how it was gonna go. Thank you for the encouragement 💜
ThatDifferentGirl 786 omg I’m getting a cyst removed Tuesday as well! Wow lol
Niomi Cryer well I hope it goes well. I'll be praying for you girl!
Thanks :’-) I hope yours goes well too!
Niomi Cryer awe thank you!
Good luck👍
I had to have surgery the following day
Side note: I’m doing much better now, my hand/fingers can move again, and I’m on my last couple weeks of occupational therapy, I’m very close to full range of motion 😊
Kacey Rogers glad to hear you are healing well, I crushed my ulnar nerve but left it too long before getting the surgery, even though I had the surgery the nerve is down to about 17% function and half my hand is kinda numb
illicitshadow Aw! I hope you get better!!
CHANTEL'S OUTFIT IS TOO CUTE!! SHE LOOKS SO GOOD!
I had surgery on both of my eyes because of the muscles being to tight
Omg that's so scary 😭😭😭 I hope you're okay now and your eyes too
Kristin's story really spoke to me. I'm 15 and I also got a laproscopic surgery this year because of ovarian toursion. Sadly, I lost it but there is still always hope, right? I wish I saw this earlier ❤
I got the notification 5 days later. Lmaoooo.
Thanks Kristin. I'm going in for Laparoscopic surgery in two weeks and am terrified of it. This video couldn't have come at a better time. Wish my luck!
