Gotta do another round of Brawl with MBM. Also, MagicAids has some interesting takes on some of the new cards on his channel. He plays fast but has good interaction in a weird meta
I started watching Ash's channel after you featured her in one of your vids so I think content like this is great, especially given the transparency :)
I think it's nice to credit people for things like this if for no other reason than it builds community. It's nice to be acknowledged by peers even if they strictly didn't need to.
Honestly, would love to see you play around with some of Sloth's brews. He's a content creator after my own heart with his love of Dimir, and he's played Outrageous Robbery in almost every shell you can imagine lol.
This was my immediate response as well. It'd be fun to see how CGB even parses a MBM deck, but I think most of them are nonstandard and/or almost devoid of interaction. Probably would not end well without tinkering to make it work for CGB's queue - based on the sorts of players MBM gets matched against, I think the Dark Lord has a very low elo rating and cuts a lot of losses from videos.
you should find the most viewed deck for Swayze and see what you can do with it. It'd be fun b/c his approach is different than yours (he plays way more Jank / Meme decks).
Also, seconding the Mono Black Magic suggestion, that collab you two did was insanely fun to watch and I kind of crave for more content involving you two.
I would like to cast my vote for Swazye too. It’s always great to see how different creators pilot decks. Lines are always different, match ups are different.
I don’t think there is. US copyright says content like phone books and dictionaries can’t directly be copyright-able like recipes. Things like facts cannot be copyrighted. Also relevant are things like game rules aren’t copyrightable. The unique character design and world environments are. (Think the whole D&D rule environment issues of last year) Now, the creative parts, like layouts, specific definitions, ad placements and ad content are creative works subject to copyright. Deck lists are weird, because they are created by the person. But people could make derivative works of deck lists (change 1 card). But just being a factual list of cards might not be creative enough. If CGB just blindly replayed her stream, that is obvious copy infringement. But by playing it in his style, and putting his own commentary, it’s definitely clear.
@@racvets1 Deck lists aren't particularly notable. It's just the ingredient list of a recipe which is the part that's not copyrightable (the creator's specific expression explaining the deck tech is what would be copyrightable.
As you asked for other content creators: I really enjoy Sloth's content- very solid control decks on his channel and a few creature decks for the spice. But the most creative creator in my opinion is Swayze. Big shoutout to both of them ❤🎉
I do think it's best to credit people if you're literally playing their deck. Especially since Ash does a lot of her own brewing so many of her decks are pretty unique. Putting her in the title of the video is even better than merely mentioning her though. She's a great creator and absolutely deserves more love and attention.
I really like this idea, especially with the time restrictions. The arena is a different place from when the set first dropped and shouting out other creators seems like a good idea. Excited to see how this goes.
Honestly, there are a number of really good creators. For Bo1 there’s PowrDragn and MtgMalone, in addition to LVD and Ash, of course. They probably have less viewers than they actually deserve. Sonio and Sloth are also cool but they typically only do control decks.
You said it once yourself: It's all about giving proper credit to the content creators. Stealing a decklist from another video and giving it no credit is not cool. But giving a shout out to the other channel for making the deck benefits both creators. You get a deck to make content with, and the original creator gets more exposure on their video and their channel as well. Win-win.
Been noodling around with a Mass Girl deck for a while. She's a lot of fun. Really wrecks mono-red. But falls apart against a lot of the control decks.
The fact that you are doing the shout outs and linking her channel makes this 100% fine imo (especially if you're both in good terms and she's ok with it!)
I'd cast my vote for Sloth. He's a Control master, and thinks out loud about his plays - which helpfully explains the reasoning behind particular strange-looking moves. In that sense he's a great teacher too. Plus he's got a wicked sense of humour. And he really, really, REALLY likes drawing cards.
MTGMalone, Swayze, PowrDragn, Sloth and LegenVD deserve some recognition as well. All legit creators with different takes on building. PD, Maloney and Swayze especially would be awesome to see. (Obligatory Jedi question trick: These are the answers you're looking for...)
The react content idea is really cool. I’ve often wondered what you would think of some other content creators’ decks - eg. Sonio’s control lists are very unique and have a large card base (usually have lots of tools but thins the consistency). Hearing your thoughts on some of his supposed “best esper in standard” etc would be cool
I, for one, look forward to the next CGB Coolstuff token, which is definitely definitely definitely going to be a bat token in honor of his love for Deep Cavern Bat.
I love this deck and have played it for a while, but I wonder: do you think with how many deathtouch creatures there are in it, you lose some of the value from Massacre Girl's wither/card draw combo? Obviously Sleeper/Preacher/Sheoldred are premier staples in black, but I wonder if there are other creatures you could slot in for maybe one or two of them that could push the wither damage better. Or I dunno, maybe then you're relying too heavily on a single card to get most of your value.
I'm not entirely opposed to react content so long as the reaction includes personal input or tells the story in a different manner which this definitely counts. As for creators whose content I'd be happy to see you revisit, Pwrdrgn because he deserves the extra credit, and maybe Sonio because I like his deck ideas but not the narration or lack thereof of his content.
As you focus on Bo1 and most other creators focus on Bo3, I would love if maybe during the outro, you would mention what modifications you would make to convert the deck from bo3 to bo1. Otherwise, I like this concept
i think it would be really cool if you would link the youtube video where this is from in ur comments. taking a deck especially a fantastic one like this from bo3 in bo1 is amazing but i would think a link to the original video would also be very nice for the creator people often miss end screens xD
I really like the idea of playing some other streamer's decks as long as you do this great job of giving the credit where credit is due. Great job CGB!
Honestly I like way you're approaching this "Magic deck Reaction" content. Additionally, at least for me ill be going to check out the original video too after this one.
Also there is some kind of ramp reanimator decks going around using Aftermath elf card and a return all land cards to hand card. Seen a few versions used to combo into a one turn mill with outrageous robbery and others use breach and atraxa and Jace etc l. Would love to see if you found some of these or could make your own build
Absolutely check out @SlothMtg for some great control decks. He's a really great guy and an absolute workhorse with coming up with new and interesting decks. I think you will really like his style and his lists :)
CGB... Are you a mtg brewer employee? Do you have a social contract that obliges you to only play original brewed mtg deck? - "No Questions!" - Man, as long you give credit to the decks' brewer and have fun, is game on! Kudos!
My vote: ACE_MTG he's a new creator & been doing a great job since early last year. He has some of the same "high energy" & thoughtful deck build & in-game discussion as our CGB. My 2nd vote is Hand of Justice. No one does a deck journey better than him. Cheers!
It’s kinda weird but I like how content creators cross over like this. Obviously everyone has their play style and leans one way or another but this allows creators to promote each other and show new things.
I think game two if they block they still die right? They lose two off of the archfiend trigger and take 4 from the other creatures? Maybe not math is hard
I love the content where you try other people's decks and/or tournament winning decks. I tried this deck when it came out with more -X kill spells, and when it went off with the Massacre Girl it was really fun! However, my win rate was < 50% so I deleted the deck
Ashlizzle said in one of her streams that she didn't mind if people played the same decks she built, as long as you don't play against her in a poor manner. This deck absolutely slaps!
@0:51 I keep clicking "Apply Styles" in the lower right corner and its not working... Using a deck someone else built isn't the same as "stealing content," you still provide the gameplay and commentary that adds value to the set of cards. THAT is the content. Even within the world of "brewers" as long as you OVERTLY credit the deck builder, as you always do, ensure that they aren't opposed to it in general, and provide a link to their video, you're building a network of creators that can all reference each other and build each other up.
I feel bad that with the weak new standard sets we've had, you have to basically replay the same decks every week. Can you tell Wizards to increase power creep per set (and gee, go back to 2 year standard cycle to retain fresh meta balance??)
No need to defend the choice to give this deck a try/video. Anyone interested in the deck is happy to have a bit more info on it before diving in. Any deck you find interesting and want to play people are probably going to want to see even if they've seen somebody else use the same/similar. Also of note the 2 of you give different insights while playing. Its a win win.
