The way you attached the rafters to the house was interesting . They looked to me like they should have had the ledger board on the bottom .
Another board will go under the bottom. An entire wall actually.
I agree, they better hope that they don't get much snow
sweet I was just curious @@wallacefarmandsawmill
Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Where you attached the ledger board / rafters to the outside of existing structure you need to add hangers with or in addition to a step ledger and 8" ledgelocks
Everything looks great but I'm concerend because you didn't support the roof at the house. I would put a runner under the beams so they rest on it and they will be much stronger and can handle more weight. Just saying. Nice job.
Looks really great Tyler and Brittney. Can’t wait to see the rest of the garage build and of course your saw milling as well.
Nice looking addition to your home folks . Im really impressed with your desire to always improving that nice home . P.S. both of you are so positive at everything you accomplish. Refreshing to say the least!
Thanks so much!!!
add some brakets on the home side an bolt or screw in the strip to home side an tie downs on 4x4 o yea am no home constriction worker just a steel worker
Looks good, keeps the snow off the cars! Oh wait, not that much snow for you guys. You won't regret that concrete floor.
Luckily no snow here!
Great job guys I love your carport, cheers for now Peter McFarlane Adelaide Australia xxxxxxxx
Looks great and a job well done. God bless y'all
Like the video nice build
Thanks!
I hope you was still able to get your pallet wood order done for the week
Good job 👍 Can't wait to see more progress
Looks great
Great job! cheers!
More videos like this please ❤
Good call on the concrete!
Nice Job!
You guys do stuff different down there, it wouldnt fly up here hell they give us a hard time using rough sawn. Hey if u r happy thats all that counts, nice video
Looks great and good job
Thanks!
Great job yall, looking good!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
You are very welcome!!!
Look good guys
I can’t believe you had your hand right beside the blade while using your circular saw. My saws have a knob for a handle on the other side of the blade guard. Maybe you don’t need all your fingers to run a sawmill.
Well, he still had all his digits after he was done cuttin', so I'd say he managed okay. You can unclutch your pearls now...
I'm working on a similar lean to for my sawmill right now too! Another great video guys!
Awesome! Thank you!
THANKS!
You're welcome!
Did you think to put a drain in or a weeping tile system to help control water run off?
I'm no builder but I was wondering if there's a reason you didn't put the notches at the bottom of the joists and set that notch on top of the board next to the building,
Im attaching another 2x6 below to lock them in the middle.
Looks good! I hope you engineered for the snow load. Just kidding. I know youall down south do things different. A garage is a wonderful addition to any house.
I have never seen anyone pour concrete on plasti you didn't put any rebar give the concrete something to hold onto and keep the concrete stiffen and you didn't cut in stress joints of cracking. Y'all's notches on your rafters should have went on top of the ledger not underneath the ledger.
First thing, I am in no way a contractor but no rebar in the concrete? How come? Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Used fiber. Will be fine.
We don't see those old rear pumping concrete mixers anymore. Those are antiques.
Don’t need rebar or wire grid in the concrete? Must be nice not to have frost heaving.
It is indeed nice.
I see the usual 'experts' have made their presence known in the comments...lol. Wish I coulda been there to help out; looks purty nice! Take care and be safe...
Thanks for the positivity! Yeah. Always the baseless opinions. Concrete was full of fiber. An alternative to metal. Used it in many projects with 0 issues! No cracking either.
Why did you leave the wire out
Went with fiber.
That ledger board would not be code where I live. The rafters should be on top of the board, so they bear the weight. Ledger board would be bolted through to inside of house, not just nailed or screwed. Right now, your roof weight is held by nails or screws from the par of the rafters screwed to ledger board. Hope you don’t get heavy winds where you live!
Keep reading the comments. Said he's tieing it all together with another board underneath.
Thanks so much! People just have to look a little deeper before spouting out.
Should have cut in expansion joints in concete
How much snow load Tyler?
We do not get snow here, but maybe once every few years!
Was kidding tho
Surely they did not just bury those up right beams in the ground! Termites and worms will destroy these beams in a very few short years. Even treated or creosoted poles do not last too long. This wood should have been put up on the concrete, where it can be kept dry. Hoping for the best.
I remember the first time that I saw you, standing outside the five and dime, you were looking at a bracelet, I saw you had an eye for things that shine....I paid 7 sawmill dollars for a bracelet just to satisfy your 14 caret mind.(gene Watson).........
I think you’re going to be disappointed with glass all I have seen cracked badly
None of my 4 pours have cracked. Different climate here I suppose.
I hate to be that guy but…. Only thing I would have done different is put it at my house.
concrete is useless without the steel rebars.....
THOSE RAFTERS ARE WRONG TO HOUSE - LOOKS BACKWARDS TO ME-SHOULD SET ON TOP OF BOARD. NEVER SEEN CEMENT POURED LIKE THAT- NO GROUND PREP WHAT'S THE PLASTIC FOR? CEMENT LOOKED WAY TOO LOOSE
I literally didn’t video the ground prep. Your comment is baseless. Thanks for the view.
Ahhhhhh another armchair carpenter 😢
Imagine how much those joists would have cost at Home Depot if you could get em, which you can't.
Exactly!
No rebar? Later you will wish you had put that in.
Na. This isn’t my first pour. We used fiber.
@@wallacefarmandsawmill I poured my 32x36 in 2007 with fiber. No saw cuts, no cracks in 17 years. I did water cure it.
That’s awesome to hear!!!
Your not getting your pallet wood done
I’m sorry, but worst concrete job ever!
Lol I guess you could have done better.
I hope you was still able to get your pallet wood order done for the week
