I played it many times when it came out. Had to come back and fall back into it. It says so much
Soft Cell defined much of the soundtrack of my life as a youngster. Marc Almond was a clever, mischievous minstrel in the pop world and he and Dave Ball created some of the most intriguing, most magical musical moments that will forever define the happiest decade in pop music; the 1980's. Marc's later ventures, albeit mostly grand gestures of breaking away from the tried and true recipes that made him famous, came across as odd departures to me; the magic in his music having seemingly dissipated like doves scattering to the wind because they were no longer tended to, appreciated... or cared about. Yet, all said and done all these years later, Marc Almond steps back into the fray once more, coming out on the other side a true musical hero and a defiant survivor. Although most of his music was fun and much like a colorful amusement park of flash and cool, he never once struck a warm, emotional or sincere chord in my heart. Until now. His latest collection, "The Velvet Trail", which includes the heartbreakingly beautiful song, "Scar", along with another new single, "The Velvet Trail", is, without question, Marc's greatest work yet. This album makes me take notice of his career, his thoughts and his messages and it brings into sharp focus just how deeply moving and impacting his music has become. "The Velvet Trail" deserves the glowing attention it is getting. Not only do I adore the album as if he were some amazing new artist that swept me off my feet, these new songs even made me cry. That never happened with any of his or Soft Cell's releases ever before. All I know is, I am suddenly a huge fan again.

My husband and I were there. Unforgettable. Simply wonderful, Marc in its purest form, magnificent musical performance, choirs, musicians and an incredible Chris Braide on piano with total complicity between them. And the songs with Ian Anderson to the flute, got us excited in a unique and special concert. An audience (I think Spaniards only us) totally delivered to a captivating Marc.
