Using water in the jet pack and getting it to make vapor is sheer brilliance on the part of the designer. Most impressive "toy" I've ever seen overall.
We understand completly. In France, we have a wonderful voice for buzz, Richard Darbois, all kids are grow up with this voice in their ears and nobody can replace him.
I might be in the minority but I wish this was the real Buzz Lightyear. Not the prequel Buzz. Most people do not care about this Buzz. But I do love what he can do, totally amazing to see.
Depending on what he got into they may just be stained and washing them won’t make them look clean even if they are. Especially if your hands are a little dry they can stain pretty easy.
Holy cow this is INCREDIBLE!! NEARLY PERFECT! The ONLY THING missing to make this PERFECT is having Tim Allen's voice! Exquisite craftsmanship!! Hopefully someday they will be able to articulate his mouth, but, that would take a miracle!! Thank you for sharing!!
They replaced Tim for this film with the explanation that it's not about the toy, it's about the guy the toy is based on. They wanted someone that could play the drama as well the comedy (take that Tim) and also someone who had potential to play the character in a live action film so they got Chris Evens. For some reason they love to have big names in animated films because people are apparently more likely to go and see the film. If the viewing public didn't mind them recasting Mario and Luigi in that Super Mario film then I doubt they will care about Tim Allen (they’ll still use him if they make Toy Story 5).
These products are such an enormous price tag for something that can only be controlled by a smart device with an app that will inevitably lose support and won’t be able to be downloaded eventually just like Sphero did with all their droid products
I was watching an interview with one of their designers and he was saying that they know the fans really want small soldiers, so heres hoping we get some!! I would drop some serious cash for a chip hazard for sure
I honestly think most of the technology is available now to do it. The problem is just how much are fans willing to pay for near 100% replicas? Then, how far do you want to take it, like do you want them to fight like in the movie? etc
It's incredible how even in just in the back pack, how much engineering is perfectly packed this all together. It's only a matter of time before the face moves and talks like the movie, and when that happens, practical is coming back, and toy soldiers too! It's a modern marvel seeing Buzz come alive like this!
That jet pack is one of the coolest things ever in a "toy". I cant help but to feel the jet pack is a couple of years ahead of its time. If it was available I think adding in the Frore cooling chip could be used to make the vapor flow more like a jet.
My only problem with the whole concept of the movie being the thing that Andy watched in universe, is that the animated series from years earlier totally felt like what he would have watched.
Yea, and the idea that he wouldn't have an issue with the Buzz toy voice sounding completely different from the movie because they didn't have Chris even attempt to sound like the voice Tim Allen used. It's a weak excuse so they could get the currently popular actor in the main role and the fact that they didn't just admit that bugged me more than anything.
I like to think of Lightyear as the modern reboot of Buzz Lightyear cartoon that Andy watched. The reboot is in itself a reboot. Also, just, you know, don’t worry about the head cannon. Cannon can ruin media in its own right when you worry about it if ‘matters.’ Same goes for speculating/focusing on real life events and motivations behind a piece of art. Warms my heart to see all the Small Soldiers love here. I always thought that movie was obscure! If they came out with an Archer, I can't guarantee I wouldn't make a regrettable decision. XD
I might be wrong, but it looks like the wing tips would hit the side panels of the case when extended, which is kind of a drag. You couldn't leave it in the case and demonstrate fully. Of course, you wouldn't want the water vapor enclosed in the case, anyway.

I love watching two grown men geek out over playing with what is essentially a toy, albeit at very expensive one. Norm's excitement is especially adorable. Thank you so much!
Warms my heart to see all the Small Soldiers love here. I always thought that movie was obscure! If they came out with an Archer, I can't guarantee I wouldn't make a regrettable decision. XD
We're getting closer and closer to small soldiers and I'm so stoked for it!
I really hope they make a ZURG!!!! WE NEED A ZURG!!!! PLSSSSSSS
