    It’s unfortunate that the game deviated from a survival game to a PvP game. Don’t get me wrong, PvP is super fun, and I’m not going to shy away from a good fight, but, I do wish it wasn’t the focus. I heavily enjoy the realism/semi-realism servers, because I feel that that’s how the game was meant to be played, and it’s more enjoyable overall (for me). I’m hoping once the devs finish implementing all the things they have planned, that PoT can become what it was originally intended to be, and not be excruciatingly miserable to play as a new or solo player

      Yep, it turned from dino survival with pvp to dino pvp with survival.
      I enjoy pvp alot i will say, but the pvp being unpredictable of where to find and when it will happen it is what i enjoy, sadly that is not the case right now.
      As you said, hopefully the changes they add in the future like 200 player servers can fill the map out a bit more and can possibly influence some different playstyles/mindsets :)

      I think the game or more specificaly the players have gone overboard with the no rules, but I am personally all for pvp focused gameplay. Maybe I'm just a classic "official" player, but there's nothing more fun that fighting. Pvp feels a lot more fleshed out and interesting than in other similar games. It can be frustrating sometimes on official servers sometimes because of the mega packs, but I enjoy not being bound by any rules. I think this is also one of the beauties of path of titans. Because you prefer realism and semi realism you can go find a server with rules on it. Or if you're like me, you can go wreak havoc on officials to your hearts content :D. I think its just the biggest problem is just how rewarding big groups are,

    Green Valley used to be popular until the devs removed the corpse that was there, because devs said it was too popular, yet they remove it and make Crater the most popular spot on the map. in my opinion waystone should be completely removed.

      Fact that crater has replenishable water with pretty much infinite salt rocks around the pond has pretty much made the GP river barren, no one goes to drink their because they either got ganked or they're in the crater refilling the pond. Poor sarcos

    You have 3 choices to survive:
    1. Make a group yourself, thus becoming the problem
    2. Playing a small dinosaur with a lot of speed and stamina but good luck trying to kill anything with more than 3000 combat weight and has competency in the game
    3. Quitting the game and finding something else to play. But the other 2 options in the long run will result in option 3 becoming the next step unless Alderon addresses the core issues of the game.
    That being foot traffic or lack thereof, the advantages of being in a group vs solo, waystones, lack of content besides PvP.
    Currently this game is very boring.

    • @hunyadacrazy
      @hunyadacrazy  Год назад +1

      I've played in these groups before, its kind of why i'm speaking out on this topic, i've told people don't go to hotspots solo if you don't want to die, specifically the crater, find another place to find people, not the "dedicated" pvp zone as it has turned into(my opinion).
      But if you can't find people elsewhere, you're just playing single player with a chatbox at that point.
      Hopefully the future changes like 200 player servers and other core things can push more map traffic and influence some different playstyles/mindsets :)

    I haven't played PoT for weeks now because of these issues here and partly because of my social anxiety flaring up. I'm either forced into groups with randoms or I'm forced to fight usually at least 4 people at a time by myself (and someone who's only been playing since the Gondwa update) which is one that always makes me incredibly angry. It's so genuinely hard to find fair fights, even as Thal I just get immediately targeted by multiple Quetz on community servers.
    You're one of the only people I watch about this game, I'm glad that a noob like myself can feel the exact same way about PoT as you do. These issues really need to be fixed because it's made me so put off playing even with my bf who is the only one who occasionally joins me.

      If you want a server with not a lot of mods and pretty decent rules you can try Life Finds a Way, it’s a semi-realism server and has great admins who can help newish players, rules are pretty ok if you like solo or group gameplay, mixpacking to a certain extent, etc. The same 2 parties can’t interfere more than 3 times, etc. I’m mainly a solo player myself and would love to welcome others to the server, please consider stopping by if you want! Also death penalty is 25% of your current growth FYI (adult (dies) = back to sub-adult)

    I’ve pulled away a bit from PoT because of the issues you showed in this video. It’s really frustrating when you explore the whole map only to be forced to go to IC because that’s where everyone is. Then you finally get there and there’s usually a massive group that’s bored out of their minds and decides to kill the first person not in their group that enters IC. Absolutely frustrating.
    I just haven’t been enjoying the game as much once the oooh new game feeling went away. I’m tired of dying to massive KOS groups where no skill is needed and there’s no way for me to defend against it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    @Rainygirl3100 Год назад +3

    I think part of the problem is making the maps so dang big with less food/water sources. The biomes are so varied and interesting, but it takes ages to get anywhere with the threat of starving so people teleport and gravitate towards areas that are obvious fighting rings (the largest bodies of water in Panjura and the giant crater in Gondwa) even when there are tons of hidden gems of places to explore. It's worse on Panjura which has more samey biomes and isn't surrounded by ocean to reduce the travel time, though there are more survival resources, while Gondwa has the opposite problem; slightly quicker navigation but less resources, ironically keeping people in the same spots where they know they'll find food. There's not much that will stop folks from focusing on PvP, but by making the maps smaller it would at least be easier to run into people and explore different areas without crowding one spot.
    I only ever play on semi-realism or full realism servers, since it adds another layer to the game beyond just growing and PvP, but the gameplay does still get stale when you can't find anyone else.

  • @NLance
    @NLance Год назад +6

    In my honest opinion, Waystone should be a luxury, not some core feature people are encouraged to use. This is a multiplayer game that depends a lot on its population, as you have said. As such, any feature that enables people to not be part of this population should be extremely expensive.
    I would say, Waystoning should cost way more. Like... 1000 marks from the get go, which then increases with every use heavily.
    Two friends who just want to play together will grind those 1000 marks to play together. But an entire group will run out of marks in a flash or spend most of their time questing, that will put them 'out there' again.

    • @hunyadacrazy
      @hunyadacrazy  Год назад +1

      My pricing idea was more to incentivise it still being useful for smaller groups like 2-3 players but inconvienient for larger groups to sit on an area.
      It is a luxury but i wouldnt wanna make it undesirable to use.

    • @NLance
      @NLance Год назад

      @@hunyadacrazy Then perhaps the incredible startup cost of 1000 marks should only apply to players waystoning into a location they died at within x amount of time (on any dino). To prevent revenge killing. The devs are trying to crack down on it but waystoning makes all their efforts into a laughing stock.
      OR block waystoning into a location they died at for x amount of time. On every dino on their account.

    First time viewer of your channel. I've been playing almost a year now on and off. I have every dino to adult even kai. The biggest issues with the official come down to 3 reasons that I can see.
    1) The devs killed the other hotspots in the game. When I started BQL, GV, YG, HT/SG and IC/GP use to be the main spots. The devs killed BQL and recently GV which pushed everyone to the North part of the map. YG occasionally has people there but its always IC/GP and HT/SG that have massive groups or mixpackers there.
    2) Theres no admins or any consequences for playing unfair(mixpacking) or griefing players. If they actually did something to mixpacking maybe that wouldn't be all everyone runs into.
    3) There's no options in endgame but to fight. If they added in more aquatics the ocean would maybe fill up more and then spread out players or give people like me something to grind now. They should have focused on quest first in my opinion over combat update.
    Edit: GH was hyped to be the southern GP but they removed all the herb bushes except 1...like why. GH was more popular before they changed it.

    I would say this is a problem on both maps, no one walks around the map anymore. Those that do, are either those avoiding big groups or smaller groups who can't fight the bigger groups. WS is indeed to cheap as groups usually have a fast dino parked there at the WS to bring them back if they die and will just keep doing so until you die; even if they run out of marks they are fast dinos like a Raptor so they can get the quest done quickly. Another thing that also doesn't help is those said groups will switch servers all the time. So instead of walking around the map they will just switch servers to fight people who are in that area on another server and then do it all over again until they get wiped, bored or log for the day. Which adds onto your points.

And most people I do see in the between areas run or keep their distance but IC is a different story you will have almost any thing attacking you all the time. But I do have luck as my ano in those areas even groups of Rex will leave me alone but that might be because im an ano lol.

    I started playing pretty recently. I mostly play solo. You're right pretty much about everything. In my opinion, the waystone's cost should be increased by a lot or they should even get removed. Devs should also remove most of the corpses around the map, same with salt rocks and berries. Make people fight for the food - if they die more often, they respawn in a random location more and have to travel (therefore they're encountering more players).
    Gondwa map is way better designed than Panjura, there are less small water sources that are just safe to drink from and there are more long rivers. I personally like the survival feel in Evrima, when drinking you must always be very cautious because of the crocs. Devs went in a good direction regarding the map. I just wish the croc's charged attack in this game didn't make any noise when underwater.
    This game definitely needs 200 or even more people per server. This should be a priority now for devs, not adding new dinos. The map is huge, it's designed for way higher amount of players.
    Generally, game has potential but I'm not sure if the devs realise what is important to fix/change and what is not.

    Suggested ways we can fix IC groups
    1: Get rid of Replenishing Quest
    2: Add a HC there. Since the Debuff would stop camping the area entirely.(But would be problematic for questing)
    3: Get rid of the way stones force players to traverse the map and that would increase foot traffic and encourage less area camping.
    What do you think of those ideas?

    • @hunyadacrazy
      @hunyadacrazy  Год назад +1

      1. The replenish quest there is too easy as there are like infinite salt rocks there, they're also close to the replenish spot, i would move the salt rocks along the walls of crater or maybe ontop of the cliffs to make it a bit more tedious. But i was also thinking about getting rid of the replenish quest there.
      2. I dont think we need another homecave personally, hotspots have their uses but being super easy to sustain yourself there is a problem if there is no pvp.
      3. I wouldnt wanna remove the option of waystones personally, i would prefer to increase the price from the starting point like my example in the video as smaller groups can still waystone 2 people for 300 marks with the first on being free. It was to incentivise more players into smaller groups to thrive while making bigger groups put more effort in for the actions they are already doing.

    2. Mixpacking/Mixpackers, Like in the video they just become annoying and bullies (4:59 Hunya sufferings)
    3. Dinosaur being balanced or not, The Devs just could give nerfs or buffs to dinosaurs like Trex being trashed now. Gets to the point where herbivores are likely are stronger than most carnivores.

    There is no solution, only to play on realism servers were there are rules. The game is simply too barebones to adress this issues in any proper or timely manner.
    Having said that, removing Home Caves, Waystones and Trophies is the only fast and obvious fix but it is also obvious why the devs would shy away from removing content they worked to create in the first place. The only other reasonable thing to do would be to reduce the amount of growth from trophies and increasing the death penalty. That way people will be less motivated to camp hotspots and kos and less willing to take unnecessary risks like fighting an elephant with a puddle or revenge killing.

    Seeing videos like this only makes me wish an AI update happened WAY before these repeated combat/map updates. A LOT of indie games with very big scopes do this. Have players fight each other and they'll make their own content and you can extend development time. However it's been so long that's all this game really is. Either you play on a server with a list of rules as long as the bible, or you get trapped in mixpack hell. Them playing keep away with the corpses isn't helping anything. Stick some damn AI dinos in the game so everyone isn't so tired of picking up pinecones that they'll chase after anything that moves like crazed zombies.

    IMO there're 2 things that could help out against hotspots and all the annoying things that come with them, those being AI dinos and a revamp at least the location visiting quests for now until they revamp the entire quest system.
    In my personal opinion I feel that most carnivores go to hotspots for both food and general fighting, which could easily be remedied by spreading AI Dinosaurs throughout the map, the burrow creatures just don't cut it, once most carnis hit subadult the amount of food critters give is just not enough, so of course they tend to try to congregate in areas with a lot of fighting going on to get their food easy, and most herbies(at least IMO) want to fight in open, easily accessible areas which end up becoming hotspots when these 2 groups meet, with IC and GV being near many spawn zones on Gondwa and SLL and CC on Panjura being nice and central which is perfect since that map tends to spawn you all around the edges(the map spawns on both of these maps contribute to hotspots is what I'm trying to say).
    With both AI Dinos being spread out to allow carnivores to explore more while feeling confident about hunger and herbies wanting to fight with their unique forms of defense, this could easily lead to these groups spreading out and encounters being way more frequent.
    Location quests being revamped to, say for example, give you bonus objectives to do certain things in the areas like eat, drink, and hunt/quest, this would encourage players to engage with those specific quests more which of course lead them to spending even more time in these areas.
    Just to clarify a bit, I know there are already objectives for each area that you visit specifically, but I think giving bonus worthwhile rewards for doing extra more time consuming tasks in areas like, say, "Hunt 5 AI Dinos in Savannah Grasslands"(more basic dinos like megs, Concs, Lambeos, Iguanodons, and as a bit of a fun challenge Camptos, wouldn't want to pick up this quest as a Dasp and have to kill rexes and spinos for example, also make them able to be snuck up on so the slower carnis can catch the Camptos and Concs) or "Clear roots and branches to make room for nesting grounds in Rainbow Hills"(not just the sit there and spam a button kind of interactions, but a pick up stuff and set them down outside of an outlined area kind of thing). Maybe at the end have a hungry and desperate carni like a low health allo arrive that you have to kill, obviously the carni can vary depending on what herbi you are, like Camptos getting Deinonychus and Laten, all the way up to Eo and Bars getting a desperate low health Rex or Spino) could be a great change for dinosaur placement around the map along with a start to making the game a lot more engaging!
    I love this game especially since I don't have a PC and can't just switch to the other dino survival games, it hurts me to see this game making huge mistakes like these, the questing system is one of if not the most unique thing about this game, and IMO it is so underdeveloped and utilized. The combat updates and newer dinos like Pycno and Thal are cool and all, but at the end of the day you should be able to have fun throughout the entirety of the game, not just after doing hours of tedious boring quests until you get to be adult and be forced to go to a hotspots to eat a full meal or just be entertained with the presence of other dinos.
    Sorry for the long comment but I wanted to give some ways I personally think this game could really shine in the gameplay loop of officials, you know it's bad when I was more excited for the modded Maip to come out than I am waiting for the official Hatz, Euhrino, and combat updates to come out. I would love to see Alderon really ramp up their development of PoT and give us some cool stuff by the end of the year/start of next year like a Panjura overhaul(that map is so dead, shame cause I like the vibes of it being a Redwoods esque landmass and not an island like every other dino survival game), AI dinos(just give them a detection system, fight or flight depending on the species, and more things to do besides walk around or doing idle animations like eating, drinking, sleeping etc.), or a quest system overhaul(more engaging tasks with a better sense of accomplishment and make them carnivore/herbivore themed like AI dino hunts or nest prep and helping to re-fertilize land that has been stripped by other herbivores), if they push themselves and listen to the community closely they could have one of if not the best dinosaur survival games in their hands.
    Edit: totally forgot to mention solo play, yeah I have this problem with both official and modded dinos, just a bit of a difference between these two. For official, they are going a step in the right direction with the solo buffs to dinos like Pycno and Kentro, I just think all creatures should have buffs for both solo and groups, but just don't have the group buffs be obviously better than the solo buffs. But instead of making the solo buffs better leading to "solo groups", just make the solo buff 3/4ths or more equal to the group buff stacked in the amount expected in a group(like the 4 stacking ceratopsian buff on Eo Albert and Styra, so basically the solo buff would be as powerful as a 3 stack of that buff to discourage solo grouping), don't just make group roars but solo roars too, it's a crime that they made Tyrant's Roar not work while not in a group. While irrelevant, my main problem with modded dinos is that mod teams don't seem to either want to cater to solos or think about catering to solos because I swear all the modded creatures I've seen have group focused buffs and roars but no solo focused buffs or roars(prime example, how the PT team massacred my favorite dino Yutyrannus by turning it into a group buffing dino (it was the apex predator in it's habitat btw, not that its real life counterpart should influence how they develop it), also they should really make more modded herbivores, having only Sauropods or one offs like Theri or Para kinda sucks ngl.

      This was a very interesting read mate :)
      I agree with pretty much everything on the questing being underutilized so far and you had some interesting ideas for what you would change and how you would tie other parts of the game together :)
      As for the solo grouping, alot of groups do this not only for the solo buff of the dinos that have it, but also because the group combat timer has stopped all group healing, so now they can heal while their friends fight, the solo buff is more like the cherry ontop to push them even further over the edge.
      I would recommend x zaguer's video on path of titans nesting, that also has some pretty interesting ideas on AI, questing ect...

    Maybe my perspective isnt the same, and I'll see this more often, but as it stands for me I've rarely gone through a location on my growing herbs that hasn't had a significant population. I never go to IC because its full of spergs, and there isn't enough water to drown those horses. I frequent BTC, YG, HT, TF, and sometimes SM, RB, BF, and GP. I play exclusively on NA servers, because that tends to give me less lag (no one should be expecting smooth connections with people across the planet, but, again, thirsty horses). But it's not perfect, and obviously I don't ALWAYS see people. But, I don't know, I just haven't noticed the "population crisis" a lot have. Maybe it's because I am growing babies, and so am more acutely aware of something near me because it means growth or lost progress.

Remember that not everyone plays the game the same way, therefore when someone does something toxic or detrimental to the gameplay experience they are making a conscious choice to do so and they should not be allowed to do so without some level of consequence, bare minimum social shaming since the game devs don't seem interested in fixing blatant exploitative game mechanics.
    Being nice to bad people does not make things better, whether it's in real life or a video game. People choose to spend their real actual finite time on this earth playing this game so yes it actually is a pretty big deal if they can't enjoy it and they end up regretting wasting their money and time that they can never ever get back, and I blame not only the game devs but also the low lifes that selfishly take away from the experience from other people and, ultimately, from themselves. I guarantee they would have more fun doing something else and so would everyone else, they are just not creative enough to figure that out

There’s absolutely no reason all if that should’ve happened for a creature that ISNT EVEN SUPPOSED TO PACK WITH THOSE. Carni with carni and herbi with herbi is fine but when you get swarmed for simply trying to survive it’s just dumb. I am normally a big fan of your videos but this one hit a little different. I only play official and spend VERY little time at or near the crater and I see action every single session. You start the video saying not to complain how people have their fun then spend the next 30 minutes complaining how other people are having their fun.
    A couple things to keep in mind I think...1. Even if 30 dinos are running around IC that leaves 50+ around the rest of the map (I'm not sure I ever even really see near that many at IC at once, except for very rare occasions) 2. Running into someone doesn't only require you be in the same location but there at the same time as well. How often do you think its possible you just missed other dinos in various areas by minutes or even seconds, or maybe since you're playing on official they were just hiding when they saw a full grown Stego waltz into the area looking like it was ready for a fight? - which is exactly what I would have done if I was on anything other than an adult myself or something I absolutely knew could outrun you as a bby.
    There are 27 biomes on Gondwa according to PoT Wiki. With 80ish players on a server, that means even if every zone had even traffic there would be less than 3 dinos per biome at a time...what are the chances you'd run into one of them just passing through? If your solution to that is more slots per server then consider people already complain about the server tick, so what do you think adding more people to a server will do?
    I absolutely agree megapacks and dino-switching are a problem for the state of the game and more should/could be done to prevent this, but it would take someone smarter than me to figure out how to do this effectively and to think there wouldn't be hotspots and dead areas just because they remove WS or IC is short sighted at best. Also I'd argue hotspots are a good thing in that, if you want action you KNOW where to go to get it, and if you want to level semi-peacefully you KNOW where NOT to go. Also, WS are a way to help prevent the possibility of coming across another megapack when you're just trying to get back to a friend to make up for lost growth after the last megapack came through your area and you only have a limited amount of time to play to begin with.
    Literally EVERY issue I see people have about official can be easily fixed by finding a community with the rules you like and there are plenty out there - or you know, just play smarter, ignore chat and stay away from IC? The ONLY exception to this would be server tick/hitbox stuff.

    • @hunyadacrazy
      @hunyadacrazy  Год назад +3

      Players play the way they play because that is what the game has pushed them to do to have fun in the game's current situation. I have also not called for any rules.
      The only clip where i genuinely complained about how someone played was the first clip, especially with the chat afterwards, i'll hold my hands up for that.
      The rest of the complaints are back to what i've seen as the game pushing players to do for their fun.
      In referencing my pachy video i encountered people in each of the hotspots, saying that what i experienced on pachy for that server contradicted what i experienced on stego.
      This is why i kept referencing pachy and stego. I saw people in all of the hotspots on pachy in 1 server where as i saw around the same amount of people over 3 servers on stego.
      I never said to remove the waystone, i said increase the price to inconvienience big groups and possibly push more people into walking instead of teleporting everywhere.
      More foot traffic or atleast more effort from the big packs to do what they are already doing with the current price of the waystones, taking away the option of using waystones is not a good move and i never said to do that.
      200 players would obviously push more map traffic, i would not sacrifice the tickrate for that, which is why i didn't mention more server slots or tickrate in the video.
      I will agree with your case of not spending enough time in zones and only doing the quests and moving on right away wasnt good for getting a better chance at encounters.
      Waltzing into a zone, i get that i didn't attack any thing i DID see but any player who spots me first ain't gonna know that, so yea some probably hid, cant trust anyone n all, understandable.
      To finish up, i explained what the situation is currently from my perspective, i'm not telling anyone to change how they play, advising on how to have an easier time and what i think would be a good step in the right direction for the game.

      Having to find a community run server to enjoy the game is not a fix. Also your answer is to play smarter, ignore chat and basically stay away from an area you know you will see somebody. That is an incredibly boring way to play a multiplayer survival game. You might as well just do single player at that point. And if you just do single player all your doing is chores to grow a virtual dino to have zero end game content other than walking around. If that's your idea of a fun game well I feel sorry for you. Why must it be KOS everyone in groups or avoid any interaction ever?? This is why people are frustrated its either non stop sweaty boring fighting or a dinosaur walking sim with some basic chore quests. Why are you so willing to accept this and defend it? @@hunyadacrazy I definitely could have done a better job clarifying a few things. It was already a bit much and I wasn't trying to create even more of a wall of text. I assure you, I watched the whole thing. As I said, I am a big fan of yours.
      I understand you didn't say you wanted WS removed but making them prohibitively expensive is effectively the same thing and it was also partially in response to other comments I read.
      Mark farming can already be a pita for the average player. Making it harder prohibits them far more than the no-lifers who already abuse the system, and will inevitably find a way to abuse the same system that is just more expensive. It's just what they do.
      That is an issue that can be experienced across ANY game with PvP - those who have nothing better to do will always find a way to give themselves any advantage they can, ethics or morals be damned. The gaming industry as a whole struggles with this exact thing and punishing the majority for the actions of the minority is never the way to go.
      I absolutely agree that some of the things you outlined are indeed problems, I just don't agree with your proposed solutions. It does indeed also seem we have different experiences when we play as a whole which may be why I don't think some are problems at all.

      @@mikecheka1 yep, these kinda talks have a tendancy to become essays, but it's good to have them regardless.
      Without being too nitpicky, my idea of waystone pricing was to push for more smaller groups(around 2-3 player packs/herds) along with pushing the larger groups to put more effort.
      But yes there is a way around everything to those who are willing to do it.
      Interesting talk with ya mate :)
