A major issue I found with trying to collab in a VTuber Hangout Discord is pickiness and popularity chasing. I tried hosting a Minecraft collab (I offered to host a server with a difficult Modpack and we try to beat it co-op) and many responded that their goal is to grow their audience so they want to collab only with VTubers of a specific size or audience. I may not like it but I think its acceptable reasoning as my main content is either extremely niche or "whatever I feel like" 11:00 Literally my entire life. I punched a popular girl in Highschool who was kicking my dog (fortunately she got arrested a year later) and got bullied to near self deletion for it. I've been very cautious towards interacting with others ever since.
Reminds me of someone analyzing the posts where they say something like "I want to make some friends and do collabs" when really they mean they want to get to a wider audience.. Its so weird to me because Id much rather have some genuine connections..

I liked what you said about you can ignore those negative comments, I have a stutter and someone literally said, "based on the faces you're making and the way you're talking, you clearly have a mental disorder", which took me back for a minute, I kept thinking if i wanted to respond at all to give them any power or if i wanted to shut it down so I kinda went for a soft shut down. I know people just say whatever cause the internet is easy to do that on, and i kinda don't care what people think but it does sometimes reinforce things I think about myself too, so I'm trying to really not let that stuff bother me and so i went on and just enjoyed the rest of my stream. I also have a "friend" he's obnoxious and loves to annoy me, he's not a true friend but we laugh, so I'm kinda using him as practice when he says stuff I can choose to ignore it or address it. Kinda sounds bad, but i'm trying to take hard things as they come and use them for practice if I start a new channel that I vtube as. I like coming up with names by first thinking of the character concept, then looking up name meanings that fit your theme. Then it also has the bonus of having a backstory built in :D

The ending there is actually amazing advice.. Its something I even recommend to my friends. Logging the positives and also telling yourself positives things helps with mental health in general.
Gratitude journal sounds like such a good idea. In my utopian midset, I mark all my good things as "Thats what I should do. Its not specifically good, just standard for an angel" while world is not 80% full of angels. Even if good things are just standard action, wouldnt it mean i should notice and appreciate the "standard behaviour", instead of trying to fix what is probably not the problem.
I think telling apart genuine criticisms vs people jumping the gun is a really good skill to have too, but it’s difficult to develop. I believe that most cancel culture actually came from from a good place, after all who wouldn’t want less bad in the world and more good? But it got misapplied, echo chambered and flame-war’ed to all hell and dissolved into bullying and clique tactics. Whenever I see a heated “discourse” post, I try to look past the actual buzzwords and anger and try to think “what is the issue close to their heart that feels threatened?” And follow it up with “is this really what’s happening?” “is it a good reason?” There’s alot of noise out there, but I don’t want to dismiss someone’s real concerns just because it might look similar to the noise.
Ive been wanting to change my name. I made this one before falling in love with vtubing. Its my online name "salem" and cemetery since i love witchy and spooky goth things and of course cemeteries. Im still small so it wont affect brand recognition at all, but i want it more themed to the moon dragon thing im going for. But i have 0 clue what to do. Names are the hardest lol
My vtuber child changed names a few names. First for anonymity, secondly because the name was too similar to the name of a family member's friend's name, thirdly to remove Sol from the front of their name because People kept saying Sol instead of the actual name (sol being a kind of title). So when twitch allows, they will change to remove Sol haha.
i dont want to ask for collabs because i dont want to seem like im collabing just to get more followers i just wanna have fun and if others enjoy me having fyn then great if not then also great.

If you started out using it at least a part of your audience will remember it, so from an anonymity perspective it won't have the biggest impact. If you do want to change it though you can try to begin by switching out only certain letters and make it into a spin on your real name.
