- Hitman Jef Costello is a perfectionist who always carefully plans his murders and who never gets caught. One night however, after killing a night-club owner, he's seen by witnesses. His efforts to provide himself with an alibi fail and more and more he gets driven into a corner. Written by Leon Wolters
Nobody has ever played a hitman in such a cool way like Alain Delon!
Really? Alain Delon as Jef Costello is VERY reminiscent of Alan Ladd in "This Gun for Hire"-the outfit, the swagger, all those things.
Don't know that movie yet - Need to watch it, I think! Thanks for the recommendation!!
;)

Anton Chigur from “No country for old men” was phenomenal.
I agree, except Chow Yun Fat in The Killer. A brilliant tribute by the way.
Delon had done many great movies b4 this, but he achieved "film immortality" with this movie..
Over the top? It's a very naturally paced looking film. Shots are drawn out to give it it's own reality, acting is dense and quiet because not every word needs to be said to express emotion. This is cinema.
Style over substance (not meant as a criticism)
One of the best films ever.
This guy can rival james bond's coolness.
Alain Delon's unforgettable French Cinema classic 📽🎬
Whenever I see a trailer for a French film, it always seems as though someone took a handful arbitrary scenes from the film, and then edited them together completely at random.
+neonatalpenguin Whenever I see a trailer for an American film, it always seems as though someone took a handful of explosions, special effects, and one liners from the film, and then edited them together completely at random.
+Alexis Snyder It sounds like we're criticizing two entirely different phenomena.
+Alexis Snyder when ever i see a french film I'm reminded of certains fromages
@@AlexisSnyders You're an idiot.
@@blakeandcamp why is that
Samurai and Le cerle rouge and Days of the jackal are my fav 3 movies from this era
A very talented man, a legend, RIP
A Five-Star Masterpiece!
I get to see it in the cinema in a couple of weeks here in Prague. I can't wait !
The film simply MUST be great - I am in it!! :-)
+Jeff Costello You talk too much to be Jeff Costello.
Стрэлок Виамонтэ Yep - in fact you're right! I must learn to be silent! :-)
I'm the real 'Jef' Costello
Dammit why couldn't you be born at a more recent date so that I could enjoy your face in new movies
Didn’t you die?
Ayer la vi. Una de las mejores películas que he visto en mi vida, de eso no hay duda.
Jeff Costello. The loneliest hitman ever.
French cinematic art at its finest
This not only a Delon jewel it is a perier, melville, Natalie Delon masterpiece 👏🤗🕵🏻♂️
I heard this film inspired director John Woo to make "The Killer" in 1989.
Great director and Delon at his best !
I was born in 1997 I grew up throughout the 2000 I'm 19 i am from the modern generation and I can gladly say that this is one of my favorite films
Who cares man ?
Is that a trend to say " I'm born in 1998, new generation suck, I prefer watching 70s movies " WHO CARES
And it's also a trend to tell them to shut up. What's up with that? If someone writes "i love this film" everyone is ok with it and it even gets thumbs up, but if someone writes "i love this film and i'm 19" it's stupid and trendy. Yes it's good that new generations search a little deeper and don't get stuck with only the entertainment of their time. Let them talk about it
ah, a special snowflake huh
Burst into laugh after that one, thx invenum

literally just watched this film. really great film.
The man with dark shades who gives him the gun is Melville
Stealth cameo appearance! Delon loved Melville. Praised Melville graciously in an interview and was humbled to be selected for this role. Delon was the only choice. No other could have as effectively pulled off the full portrayal of "a tiger in the jungle" and what that meant.
actually it wasnt Melville. He was actually bald.
my favorite french film with rififi, le cage aux foles and le proffessionel.
This movie looks awesome! I bought it a week ago at Barnes & Noble. Can't wait to watch it some time in the near future.
@Randy White I liked it a lot! It really got me into foreign and classic cinema. It was one of the first old movies I got into, and I've been seeing lots of great old movies ever since.
Masterpiece

This movie is a crime noir benchmark!
Good comment.
Film culte ! Le cercle rouge est excellent aussi avec bourvil dans un rôle à contre emploi
I'm almost 20, and I'm falling in love with Alain Delon already. Fuck Bieber, I have Alain Delon. ❤️❤️❤️😂😍😍😍🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
I'm almost 17, I fell in love with this one already even though I haven't watch the movie.
@@daniellakaran5760 Found Delon after 65 years. It's never too late. Now I need a 12-step recovery program. Also very into his later work: 10-part series of Frank Riva television episodes. Man, he's still both tender and savage.
Marry a man who dress like Alain Delon in the modern times.
i have a dvd of this film and i can say it had good quality and good a good story
amazing all around. really enjoyed this film.
L'espace d'un instant je vis éternellement dans tes yeux .. Nathalie Delon en paix!

Mod subculture brought me here
This is a great film.
Want to see this in Netflix
John Woo basically remade this into The Killer.
At the beginning, in the center of the screen, look’a like’a early Big Bird!
can some one upload the full film pls? been dying to watch it since saw army of shadows.
"Pourquoi vous vous êtes rasé la moustache ?" Lol. La question d'un vrai facho qui dès le début a déja attribué à Castello le role de coupable.
screen on point sent me here
Very Very good the best and great ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
And 2 years later The Japanese stole this and made into a manga called Golgo 13 =)
+Uncle Joe Wait.. Seriously? Golgo 13 is amazing, but I never figured the story as a stolen one.
Sharath SH It was a joke. Golgo 13 has been heavily influenced by the film
Uncle Joe Dude.. You should've gone with the troll.
Aeterna Glory¡ Thank you
Just for the clothes i would love to live in the past.
In my dreams I walk those streets.
Its the inspiration for Golgo13
Are you trying to look smart? Because this the dumbest thing to say... at least about this movie.
This film has style, pour le moins.
Where can I watch this?
Preferably online HD
Criterion channel.

wie immer in Deutsch,danke
Not as good as expected actually.
@Randy White He probably expected it to be action packed.
Nothing blew up, huh?
The problem with old films is the acting, pacing, music - it's usually way over the top, as seen here.
