Yep, YKK zippers are also very prone to jackknife like you demonstrated. Happens all the time on my bags from Evergoods, Mystery Ranch, Patagonia etc. Some times I think I'm going mad because NOBODY ever mentions it. Why is this obvious design flaw (to me!) just swept under the rug in so many bag reviews?? It needs to be pointed out more often even if the zipper is YKK. Thanks for the great review.

I recently purchased a Targus Cypress 15.6” Hero Backpack (TBB58602GL-71). I intend to use it as an everyday carry but also for travels. It pretty much covers my needs, but after watching this review, I've realized a few areas where it could be better. This Samsonite bag seems to be very good and addresses quite a few of those shortcomings (padded top handle, extra hanging handle, bigger side pockets, laptop strap, extra compartment for a tablet, stronger shoulder straps, laptop compartment opens completely flat, gussets in the front compartment to stop it from spilling over). Although I prefer the sleeker look of my Targus bag, I'm not sure which one's fabric will be more durable. Nice review, thanks!
Lost my much loved old and classy Samsonite backpack and it took me 2 full days to get over what was just the backpack .. no valuables in it at the time of my shopping centre oversight. Was looking high and low for a replacement and picked this one which just arrived today from Amazon at a crazy price. Your eagle eyed review was quite helpful as I missed a couple of things. Absolutely agree with you on the handle bent over the zips and the extra strap dangling about. I fixed it with velcro as was able to fold it over itself (this may not be possible if pulled fully like you demonstrated). Looks to be a great backpack otherwise and very roomy. Samsonite is all class and love it. Is there any other model that beats this? Probably not! Great review!
Pack Hacker community what is the biggest size in flasks you would put in these bag pockets. Would a 1 litre (1000 ml) fit in side each pocket if it was a tall bottle? Or should I stick to half a litre (500ml) or a 350 ml flask. Some idea would be great to know. Are the pockets elasticated as well ?
Hey there! The ballistic polyester is going to have some water resistance but not enough to safely stand in the rain for an extended period of time. Thanks for the comment! - Austin
Excessive strap “Danglage” are a dealbreaker for me for any backpack. If it doesn’t come with strap management loops I have to be able to add Velcro strips as a solution (I’ve done so with my two goruck bags). Some bags my solution just won’t work so regardless of how the rest of that particular bag is, I’m done and off to the next one. I also need organization because I don’t like to use pouches but that’s not a dealbreaker.

I just purchased the Xenon 4 slim and there are small elastic loops at the end of the main straps to hold the extra strap material.
great review, plan to get this bag as it seems to be slimmer than most other options and I like rigidity where it can stand by itself.
