Recently I started learning Node again! Got curios about V8 and landed in here! Technology is amazing! I am literally watching 15 year old video that too free of cost. Best ERA to live in.
Javascript is actually an advanced object-oriented language that has a great deal of power. With libraries like YUI, Dojo or GWT, a developer can build rich applications that run in your browser. The goal is not to have flashier web pages, but to start developing applications in Javascript. For that reason, we can use all the speed we can get.
Besides the fact that there are useful web apps that make good use of a fast JavaScript engine... There haven't been many huge web apps written that need something like V8 because JavaScript is so slow (in some browsers, IE8). If you're happy with the current web, then you've no need for faster, more scalable and more capable JavaScript apps. There are a people that think things could still be improved upon though.

The first thing I saw was that he used Firefox... Why not Google Chrome? Im just saying, is somthing wrong with that browser?
Considering the web is moving toward mobile devices (which desperately need optimized JS engines) and more JS-heavy pages, yes.
Could it be possible to find similar performance gains with Ruby or Python syntax?
