I was at this recording and its one I'll NEVER 4GET..The Atmosphere was Electric. And this song has always been my #1 to this day. And that Bass guitar is Untouchable in the ending. Just how it sounded in Christ Tabernacle that night.
The man singing lead was my Uncle John “Billy” Shines truly amazing man from what my family has taught me. I wish I had the chance to meet and talk to him. The stories and this amazing and mesmerizing song speaks volumes of how great he was. I love you Uncle Billy, Rest in Heavenly Peace❤️
@@greggy757 NO!!! The lead singer for this song IS my dearly beloved deceased brother JOHN “ BILLY” SHINES. They NEVER made the correction. It was a live recording. I was there to witness the entire recording. I’m sure a video was made and some of the older members of The Tommies may have had a copy. We CAN attempt to locate Carlis Moody and have him tell the truth. He MAY have re-sang the lead after my brother passed away in 1992, but he certainly wasn’t the lead singing on this live album. No disrespect to anyone. Just keeping my brother’s legacy of music alive. Amen
This soloist sounds like the same one on the Tommies' 1979 song, "All That I Want to Be." I've always liked the song since hearing it by Andrus, Blackwood, and Company and also by Larnelle Harris. The Tommies' arrangement was more upbeat and synthesized and had additional lyrical arrangement.
This Song Right Here Should Have Been A CROSSOVER HIT on the R&B Charts.. The Production was like NO OTHER in Mid 80's era of Gospel. This Album is what made me fall in LOVE with The Tommies, and I was in the 8th Grade when this album was release... I Had to buy 2 copies cause I warped the 1st one for playing it so much..LOL.. THANKS SO MUCH For Posting This and Bringing Back Memories.. #love
In case you didn't know, Carlis says "Some years ago a man from Milton Brunson's church, Tony Shelton, came to my annual choir's anniversary... He asked me had I ever thought about Brunson's choir (the renowned Thompson Community Singers) recording a song of mine," Carlis recalls. "I told him that I never thought about it. A few months later he invited my choir to sing at a musical at Christ Tabernacle Church, and the people were blessed. After the service, Tony told me that Pastor Brunson wanted to meet me. Pastor Brunson told me how blessed he was by my choir's ministry and that Myrrh Records was dropping them from their label. He said the Tommies were doing their final project for the label and needed a major miracle for Myrrh to re-sign them. He asked me for a song for this album and the appropriate title of the song I wrote was "Miracle" which became the title of the album. The album reached #6 on Billboard's gospel album chart, was nominated for a Grammy Award and Myrrh executives were so happy with the LP sales that they re-signed the choir to a new contract. From that time on, the Tommies came back to Carlis for other hit songs including one of Carlis's most recognized compositions "Available to You" and "Through God's Eyes."
It's so crazy to me how choirs like the Tommies were(are) so ahead of their time as it relates to gospel music! I mean, they recorded this song over 30 years ago and you can pull this and many of their songs out from back then, sing them now and they still can resonate........wow!
classic music here! love the Tommies. If you're on FB, feel free to come join our gospel music 'appreciation' group "The Squall".....love to have your input in our group and we love interesting "gospel music trivia"
A miracle it was for me oh,oh I wandered in the shades of night when Jesus came to me Dark clouds were hanging in the sky and the billows around me rolled While searching for the light of God His sweet communion I found and now I know the power of His love it was a miracle for me I can't forget, I can't forget what He's done for me oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh a miracle it was when He came into my life I've got to live for Him because He died and rose again a miracle it was, a miracle it was, a miracle it was, a miracle it was A miracle

Wow, I wish I could’ve been there to experience the excellence which is Rev. Milton Brunson & The Thompson Community Singers.
