Those of who are less familiar with oil and gas , this is still exploratory drilling. They will drill and they have to confirm oil and gas . After confirmation they will delineate I.e., guesstimate how much of oil and gas is there . At this point ( which maybe 3 years down the line ) you will start getting the idea of how much oil and gas is there . The infrastructure to get oil to the shore cheaply may require a pipeline which can take another few years. Don’t get excited on every news you see on the internet.

Drilling hasn't started yet. Blackford dolphin rig, which was stationery near Nigeria, is on it's way and is currently near Namibia. It is expected to be near Cape Town, South Africa by 6th August 2024.

Why is the ONGC not involved in this project?
I somehow feel that this is overhyped. If oil is present in such a large volume in India, then why are we still importing Pil from Middle eat and still paying 95/- for diesel and 110/- for petrol? Shouldnt these prices come down? Why are these prices still high? Either the govt is playing with middle class or the Oul reserves arent that high.
Aisi drilling ke liye permission chahiye govt ki nahi from Supreme court , opposition and NGO. They will shout environmental damage etc.. we compare development of China , USA , UAE etc.. but wahan environment protesters ko sidha jail mei govt dal deti hai. Unka court govt ko dictate nahi Karti and opposition country and people ke benefits ko dekhte chillati nahi.. which we are missing in India.. just look at govt planning to develop Andaman and plan it as project greater Andaman.. but opposition , NGO already file a case against this project in supreme court.. that's the reality..
