One thing I love about cowboy bebop is that the lore is absolutely perfectly placed. You'd never guess that the astral gates and their foundation were so important to the world and lore and the overall message of the series but many episodes call back to them in a subtle way you won't get on first watch
“Casting pearls before swine” is a Bible reference, it’s like “feeding caviar to pigs” or wasting something precious on someone who doesn’t understand or appreciate its value
I think "romance" is a great way to put it. This show is supposed to be an anime version of the Blues. The stories are almost always sad, or at least about being dirt poor and never winning. However, like the blues, it makes you feel good to watch it. We all have bad days, we've all (well most of us) have had money trouble. Soooo many animes are power fantasy, and that's fine...I guess. I think that people need less power fantasy and more blues, personally. The idea that we're all just main characters who haven't been discovered yet is kind of a modern mentality I don't quite like, but I ALWAYS love relating to someone down on their luck.
This kid was essentially forced to live forever and now he can finally have some release through death. Of course spike says he can't understand his joy and relief, because spike of course is still living. The significance built into every moment is awe inspiring
There is so much that's only understood about Spike at the end of the series, that it's tough to fully appreciate it the first time through. Imho, it's one of the best portrayals of someone who expected to die a long time ago, and truly treats the rest of their life like borrowed time.
@@AndoThreeyup spike is a walking ghost who's still bound to this earth by unfinished business. He can't understand the release of death because he's stuck in purgatory.
Cool just realized the voice of the "kid" is the same actor as Chagum from Moribito. If y'all haven't seen "Moribito Guardian of the Spirit," you need to.
Since it is a fairly re-occuring plotpoint and it's being like, properly introduced in this episode i feel like someone should probably clarify the explosion thing. Not in a spoilery manner mind you, just the stuff that was said in this episode + the stuff that doesn't actually make a difference to the show at all. So basically, that explosion was one of those hyper-space gates exploding. Not earth and the moon colliding. It was in orbit right next to the moon and when it blew up a ton of debris from the moon started raining down on earth, hence why humanity kinda got the fuck out of there and are living on mars and stuff now. This took place back in 2022 and the show is set around the 2070's iirc.
This show is built off subtle things, like the gates explosion and how important it is to this series. This has legendary moments but also has deep and life moments.
You all need to watch Baccano! so that you know this kid is clearly Czes-kun. [It's actually amazing, and I think you all would vibe with the more badass characters, but I'm not sure I recommend nonlinear storytelling for your program. =) ]
this is another one of my faves. the villain is a very memorable character and a uniquely nasty individual, but he still gets a rathr poingnant, sad end despite his awfulness. That shot of him standing in the flames is an inconic shot that was used in the trailers. I almost wish this character was a bigger villain and not sut a single episode one shot foe. but maybe he wouldn't work so well.
Serious questions for everyone and Morgan specifically, once the crews been completed for awhile: Do you think the series became more what it was supposed to be once the female Characters joined, and less just a boy show? And: Do you think that was on purpose? Thank! Loving it.
I actually prefer this one to the previous episode slightly! Those highway shots are just to die for and it's perfectly disturbing in that casual c'est la vie sort of way that Bebop positively drips of.
Love this show, love your reactions! This is the perfect show to watch with you guys. Couple side notes to remember from this episode: 1. The opening scene with Spike. (yes it was him) I won't over explain or spoil, so all I will clarify is what was actually shown. There were a lot of organs and such all around, but what they showed actually being worked on was Spike's eye. 2. The hyperspace gate explosion. It's never directly explained, but this was a major historical event that weaves it's way into many other stories. From what you've seen so far it can be assumed that this has something to do with Earth's deteriorated state. It's mentioned in passing many times in this show, so it's a good little piece of lore to keep in the back of your mind. This show is very unique in that it never directly explains these things, but through context there's a lot that can be deduced in episodes to come.
With the dog it's not the case the cocky is extinct that's why it's worth a lot of money the dogs wear a lot of money because the breed of that dog is extinct
do you think dog food has the same effect as eating cat food like charlie and frank do in always sunny? makes you sick and tired and you get really sleepy?
Cool reaction, but the guy is from below. Literally does not understand the moments when you need to turn on your brain and shut up. If you look at the head, and not at the loin part. It's quite a sad episode. About a child who lost his parents due to an accident, about hunters chasing eternal youth in an attempt to escape from old age. The couple of bs on top are more pleasant.
I love you so much and I would like to share this with you. The condemnation is this that everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But this is the gospel which means the good news. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. And the only way to be saved is to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Believe that he died and was raised on the third day by God the father. Ask him to receive the holy Spirit. Repent from your sins (which means turn away). And be baptized in the name of the father son and the Holy Spirit. God bless you and have a good day. 🙏 John 3:16
Six episodes in and this is easily one of the worst Cowboy Bebop reactions I've ever seen. Zero effort to understand the world-building, or grasp the larger plotline that's been slowly unfolding regarding Spike. Android? He's getting his eye replaced. With an organic eye. Heck, they didn't even notice the 2001 movie reference with the harmonica toss at the end. Just awful.
They are just enjoying their time together with cowboy bebop in the background. It's fine. Don't let it get to you. Yeah they will miss about everything while talking over the exact parts where they are explaining the thing they are questioning, but even through all that they are still having a blast with it, which at the end of the day is what counts.

For those that don't know, "Pearls before swine" is an old idiom about giving something of value to someone who would not appreciate it

I love how Selim is you guy's go-to for any evil child now
Specifically an immortal one
They would do it too if they saw Baccano lol
If the shoe fits
Just realized how cold skipe was to take the shot of the cheek and stand there
"I was wailing the blues when the doctor whacked my bottom on the day I was born" is one of the coolest lines ever spoken in an anime.
17:12 = "The work which becomes a new genre itself will be called COWBOY BEBOP".

The Corgi has been established as a Data Dog. He's got important data, and he's smarter than the average mutt

It’s set in 2071 but close enough lol
Yes spike is a supposed to be an extraordinary guy lol. He is literally the “him” of the solar system

There is actually 3 Selime’s - Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop and finally Baccanno!!
20:29 Not exactly true but so accurate
I keep forgetting how long we have to wait for bestgirl Ed to join the crew
You all need to watch Baccano! so that you know this kid is clearly Czes-kun.

They would adore Baccano!
They keep talking about aliens and cyborgs but Mars Selim just wants to play the blues.
The Corky's name is Einstein
Remember the "bang"....
I mean we really need to get this correct here. Selim is the jazz-less cover version of this kid, not the other way around.

It's from the Bible, "pearls before swine".
Yeah but Celine doesn't have his Alchemy he just has a gun

I think it's a good idea to get an invalid to wheel around otherwise you get a typical Hollywood producer type who's going to turn your ass out
I'd love for you guys to watch the English dub of Yu Yu Hakusho
English dub of yuyu Hakusho let's goo
Spike did get his right eye replaced after an injury. This technically makes him a cyborg, but that's the only tech in him.
Cant wait for the AOT finale reaction :)
This show makes me wish people put more style into things. These days

I think its fine. Just..way too many unfunny jokes instead of listening to the dialogue or pay attention to the moments.
I doubt anything will piss me off like the Normies tearing poor Alisa to shreds and not hearing her out.
