What knot are you using to connect leader to main line? While I live in the US, Pacific Northwest I have been to Jervis Bay. I did not fish, unfortunately! You have a beautiful country.

Look up the Aussie plait. That’s become the favourite for leader to main line for game fishing because of is shock absorption capabilities
