- When Bobby dies in a car accident he is not allowed to enter heaven but has to stay in one of the lower levels until he has worked enough as an guardian angel in order to deserve paradise. One of his jobs is Lenny, a gifted boy, who loves his schoolmate Sharon who is the most beautiful girl of the class. But she does not even notice him so that he is about to commit suicide. Bobby prevents this and dresses Lenny up making him a playboy and tough guy so that he gets what he wants although Bobby knows that this is not the best. Thinking that his job is done, Bobby realizes that Lenny's mother is his former girlfriend who has married another guy. Although not being allowed he makes himself visible to her... I saw it in a theater years and YEARS AGO IN CALIFORNIA. NOW IM LIVING IN TEXAS. I HAVE LOST SOOOO MANY FA.Y ME.BERS SENCE I SAW THIS MOVIE. IVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS MOVIE .I always will .
I'm 34 I loved the movie since I was in 2nd grade
I used to watch this movie all the time with my dad back in the 80's. It brings back a lot of memories. My father passed away in 2016 so every time I see this it feels like it brings me closer to him. I never used to cry to this movie until now. It's sad that you never realize what you truly have until it's gone. Not only does this film bring back those memories but it's also one I would recommend to anyone who has lost someone they loved. I found myself crying again while watching this, but the difference this time was that I had a smile on my face.

I was 13 and visiting my Dad when this movie came out and we watched it together. Has plenty of comedy, meaning and sadness. Long live the iconic movies and times of the 80's. Growing up in an awesome era that I can't get back but will forever cherish in my life. ❤🎉
I was just barely 20 yrs. old & pregnant with my 1st child, my son, soon to be 37 yrs. old, when this movie came out. I'm just 57 now & when I seen this was on YT it took me back to days gone by & so many cherished and precious memories. It took me back to a LOT of better times & to a place I want to be again. Cherished Cherished Cherished Cherished & oh so wonderful memories & the movie & the 80's era. All forever with me.
Ok
I’m older than y’all and an ole kitty girl, going to watch this because of all the comments, but for some reason…, I connected to what you wrote,
I’ll re write after I see it , and you are correct… if you think back , our grandparents, aunts , uncles the old folks ( which now !!! My sisters and I are the old folks ) 😂
They tell us things and now we know the meaning of the good ole days,
If I tell you a little secret 🤫
We get to have them again, they come back around
And even thoe I’m ole , look for me under the magnolia trees 🌳, and we can share some stories and laughs , so stay on your toes, because when you find me , might be a pop quiz on some good ole days.

Then just had to see it here back in late 2015! Hadn't seen it since 7th grade 85!

Just got to see it again!
I am 71, and this movie reminds me of a guy I went with when I was19, same pants, jacket, and attitude, he was 20 and was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was a Long Island nomad and I always wished he would have come back like Bobby did. I still cry when I watch this.

In a science fiction way maybe - but now, as an exercise, how do you think we'll be watching it in 2030? Or in 2050??!!
@@stevengill1736 now that's a good question.. I'll say in 2050 it will be different..
I'm always amazed at how many people haven't heard of this film whenever I talk about 80s movies. For me, this is up there with Weird Science, Ferris Bueller, Naked Gun and Police Academy! I watched this on a grainy VHS countless times as a kid and memorized every scene, it's such a warm and fun movie with a very important message about the importance of being yourself and accepting others for who they are. The scene at the very end with Bobby going up the escalator, pondering everything that has happened, then gradually smiling as he approaches Heaven still makes me choke up a little! To this day, whenever someone asks me if a task is possible, I'm sure to tell them.... "I got it covered!" 😃
How about Once Bitten in Real Genius
I vaguely remember this but would have liked it for the 50s nostalgia I did not like all 80s movies. Was "spazz" a 50s term or an 80s term?
I'm an Older Lady and I Love This Movie. Must of Watched It Several Time Over the Years. Still makes me tear up when Bobby learns he is a Father, and when He tells her He has always Loved her. This is a Pure Classic!!
@Anna Lisa Vajda It's just another word for a stupid or incompetent person. The funny thing is, Bobby originally uses the term "spazola" which is actually a type of hair brush 😅
It sadly competed with movies that would go on to spawn juggernaut franchises in the film industry. Movies like Back to the Future and Terminator were in much of the spotlight at the time. As a result, this movie is a hidden gem now.
In the 2 years since I commented on this video, life has changed. I have a son now. He just turned 2. Just months before he was born, I became sober. Life for me truly began in my 40's.
Seeing the ending now, OMG, hits me hard. I wept when Bobby said: "Heck of a kid, ain't he, Rafferty?". His voice cracked. Damn I felt that.
Bobby went Uptown after doing right by his son. I began a new life as a father by doing right for my family.when I gained my sobriety.
Hell FUCK YEAH

One of the most memorable and gripping scenes is where Bobby goes back to the wreckage of where he died , him walking up and pounding on the car he wrecked and died in was as if he was saying to himself, I should have listened to Emily and not did the race and could have been with her and had children of his own, and grew old with her. Exactly right! Like in reality lenny should be about 10 years older but who cares! Still a great 80`s movie! I`m blessed to be a Gen X`er!!!!
Bobby died in 1968 when his g/f was about 2 or 3 month pregnant... that makes Lenny about 16 or 17 in 1984-85. The cars used in the races are over 10 years old to-be-junked cars.

Wouldn't say best but one of the best ones still had the 60s 50s and 70s too.
It was one of the best eras for music and movies. TCM has expanded its library to include classic films from the eighties.

The Lost Boys,
The Princess Bride,
Splash,
Big,
Back to the Future,
The Terminator,
Into the Night,
Against All Odds,
Something Wild,
Cat People,
Fright Night,
An American Werewolf in London,
Body Heat,
Body Double,
and more.

I haven't seen this movie in almost 30 years and being 41 yrs old would make me pretty young while watching it with my Dad. I definitely laughed more understanding the jokes now but cried Alot to cause I know what pain can feel like and I know it wouldn't take me a second to sacrifice for my girls. At the end when they say goodbye and u know it's his father standing there telling him he will always be with him... I don't think I've felt my Father's presence more since 2002 then I did at that moment as if he wanted me to know he's always with me and that I'll make it thru whatever maybe coming my way. I miss you so much Daddy and I'll Always love you with all my heart and soul thru your forever and mine Always!!! In Loving Memory of David Lynn Davis..

Reading this makes me think of my father as well… I know I’m a mess since I lost him 2015 but, for some reason I feel he’s watching over me yet, while I feel so lost in this world without him. I guess I’m still here because of him or he has better plans for me like God does.

Same. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. It was on HBO frequently back then, and I'd watch it every time I could. I bought the dvd a few months ago, and watching it after not seeing it for so many years really WAS like going back in time. Tears of nostalgia for sure.
the goodbye ending scene with his kid brings me tears...
I saw this actor in real life when he came to my hometown to film the miniseries “North and South.” Truly a nice guy.
@confederatenation9544 The actor who plays the dead dad in this film. His real name is Lewis Smith.
This is an awesome movie and I liked how Bobby and Emily had their moment together and how Emily said "You always made everything alright and she felt safe with Bobby. She loved Bobby so much. Lenny was her son. The music was great and 80s were a great time to be alive and be free unlike now.
Yeah, but I wish Bobby vould have told Lenny he was his dad. It seems incomplete without that.
One of the most unheard and underrated movies of the 80s. Killer soundtrack as well
80's movies are the BEST! ✌️
👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this old classic with Richard Mulligan.
Always be yourself, don't follow the crowd and live life to the fullest! Love who you are every moment counts! God Bless everyone💕🙏😇
Its true. Though th e digital devices are seeming to not be that great for our brains. We need more blockbuster movies and huge outdoor concerts to come back
This comment is the best one yet... it did something to my heart. 😢😢😢😢 THANKS FOR THE COMMENT.
GOD BLESS YOU!
Thank YOU. This means a lot to me...
What's the song called at 47.33 minute's in?
So many flaws and yet, I can't help but have this movie in a special place in my heart.
Stop looking for flaws
Excellent and classic movie. I’m a 70’s kid graduated high school 1980 at 17; still teenager into 20’s but still love when I grew up and love the 80’s; being late teens and 20’s. But love the whole storyline and lesson. It doesn’t matter to me flaws or no flaws. Look at today’s movies; no comparison. The music was fantastic too! Although I started my teens in the later 70’s ; it is the music from the late 70’s into and including 80’s that I love the most even today.
Flaws are what make a story and someone very amazing
I seen this when I was very young and I love it. Very memorable movie. GREAT ACTORS. Awesome movie. Thanks for letting me watch it
good movie. Learning how to love. One of the hardest lessons to learn when the ego is in control.
*Still One Of The Best Movies I’ve Ever Watched*

36 years ago. I was 10 years old . I loved watching this and Just one of the guys. On HBO.
One of those movies that you cry when it starts and when it ends. Love it.
Been waiting a long time to see this one again... Thanks Retrodude!
I was 10 years old when this came out. With all the re-runs I never see this movie on TV or cable. I love this movie!!!!!
I was there when they shot this movie at my high school. I was about 17. I remember all the high school locations in this movie. I tried peeking in the cafeteria but square opening on the double doors were covered with, I think, white paper. Times were so great then. The fight scene outside the h.s. doors is where I used to wait for my dear friend. She was so beautiful and sweet. So many fond memories in that school. Oh I miss those good ol' days.
Oh wow
Which high school was it?
I did too
Man I just wish Lenny would’ve called Bobby, Dad at the end...
He didn't know that Bobby was his father.
You can see the struggle in Bobby's eyes when he says "No matter where I go, we'll always be best friends..."
@@dethstark so true I agree
Me too that would have been so great
My favorite parts was when Lenny told his mother I got to cover it and she knew right there and then because that's what Bobby told her he had it covered before he died in the car race that was a great movie all the kids today missed out on all the good movies we saw back in the '70s and the eighties this generation today got it made we had to go to the movies to watch those movies or on a cassettes now they have DVDs plays right on the TV oh my God they haven't made but I still wish I could go back to the generation 30 years ago when I was in my 20 lol 😂😆🤣😆
I have been looking for this movie for ages!! Brings back so many memories. Thank you so much for posting this ❤
I am glad you found it
