True story. I'm the 9th of 13. Three died after birth. My parents did practice the rhythm method, but only found out afterwards when they volunteered to teach it that they were doing it backwards.

Thanks for your testimony. It is so important and valuable nowadays. Many couples do not want to have children. They prefer to have dogs and cats and treat them as humans. So sad!! We need more couples, blessed with the matrimonial sacrament , open to life like you. May God bless you!!

I don't think anyone makes a choice of an animal over a child,we end up with animals as our children because we cannot have our own child.

I was an NFP instructor for 15 years. Just because we chose to have a large family was not due to an NFP mistake. There are medical reasons to avoid a pregnancy, illness, etc. For us, we hoped and prayed for a loving, Catholic family.

In a young marriage we were really excited to begin our family, lost our first one in our first year, then experienced severe trauma, then we started again slowly but surely healing was able to conceive again, lost her four months after. Have experienced severe depression and anxiety during pregnancy. Creating life, sustaining it, and supporting it can be hard but...not all requires great prayer and support for families. Please pray for those women who suffer from Tokophobia, who experience rough pregnancies, miscarriages and experience fertility problems. And pray for those women are blessed with children regardless of how many have. What a powerful and wonderful video. Thank you for what you do

I love the photo of your 7 children together. Your oldest son's smile makes me think that he is so proud to have a little brother. His face is just busting out all over with joy! He'd probably be equally as happy to have another sister but I'm sure he's glad to have another male in the family. The photo with all 9 of you is so precious! You are a beautiful family!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

my mother was born in 1918 and had to go to work at 14 in the mills but she did not stop educating herself and when she was in her late teens a friend told her that she went to a doctor to have a abortion and my mother was surprised and promised GOD that she will accept every child he gives her and raise them with her husband with love. I come from a family of 6, one of my brothers died at child birth. my mother had difficult births but bringing in a new soul into the world was what was important to her and my dad. she viewed us gift from GOD.

I loved seeing all of the inserted videos and pics of the family. I'll always believe I should have been a person that had more than the 4 children I had. It's too much of a story to get into here, but I will share that I was away from the Church when I entered my first marriage in which the 4 were conceived. There will always be a bit of sadness when I see families such as yours to realize what I could have had if I'd not been wayward for a time. That's part of why I'll always give love and support to those who are working so hard to live the Faith. I'm very aware it is definitely not easy, but oh the blessings. I do love it when there's some of the children old enough to help care for the little ones. Having 4 in 4.5 years was quite exhausting, even though I was only 22 when I delivered my 4th.
I'm so grateful for my 4 and 9 grandchildren. God has blessed me in so many ways, even through my sinfulness.
Thank you for being one of those blessings Ken and Janelle❣️💕💞

Hi Ken and Janelle! I am happy to announce that we had our little Lucy on Oct 4th. She is out 8th child and I feel so blessed to have her.
We have never practiced NFP and I really don’t know much about it other than the basics! We have for the most part been open to more children. I do have to say after this pregnancy and labor I really don’t know how much my body can take. I’m 42 now. I need to look into it and also trust what God has in store for me.

Ken and Janelle - beautiful family. Recently Mother Miriam had an interview with Bishop Schneider and NFP came up. They both commented that “planning” should not be part of that title as it infers something misleading. the only one who has authority to plan is God, as He is the gift giver and every child is a gift. It was interesting to hear their perspective. Have a listen if you can.

I am not a mom, and nearing the end of my fertile years, but I think God gave me a bit of the joys of motherhood by being an older sister. My siblings are truly the best gift God could have given me. Please pray for me guys! I have continously relapsed into habitual mortal sin and the sin of presumption. I do not know if I have the necessary sorrow in order to make a Good Confession anymore to in order to recieve God's Mercy. So please beg Our Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus and through Mary's intercession to grant me the grace of true and abiding sorrow and contrition for my sins so I can make a Good Confession.
If you could please offer some of your penances, sufferings and sacrifices for this intention. St. John Vianney would offer up his penances on behalf of the poor sinner that came to him because he was certain that if someone had paid their ransom God would soon forgive him/her. If you did this for me I would be eternally in your debt. Thank you!

Had a happy marriage and we used go to mass as a family (dad, mam and 4 childre) then things went wrong.. Youngest child got leukaemia, my time was 100% taken up looking after him, sorting his meds - making sure i gave him the right tablet on the correct day. And in correct quantity. And at the right time. Checking temperatures, rinsing mouth up to 5,6 times a day etc etc. Hubby did all this too. I was menopausal. Nightmare symptoms, (pre-existing mh probs, prolonged heavy menstruation, sweats, dizzy, fibromyalgia, bipolar..) Could it get worse? Son died after 5-year battle. On loads of meds, i was spaced out, not-in-touch, talking about son all the time, unable to comfort my other children. They turned to dad who was on no meds. They all cried each other to sleep. I was numb, felt... Nothing. Nothing atal. Just before Christmas, came off one of my meds (saw shocking docu about it) almost overnight, i was grief stricken. Had nobody to turn to, if i mentioned son's name, my children left the room. That was 23 years ago. If never got better. I'm still the black sheep. Like a stranger when i visit them. They are nearby but might as well be a hundred miles away. I'm in bits. They don't understand, it is only their dad they want. They call to see him. I just have no relationship with them. Where did i go wrong? They have lost their faith, and i am forbidden to teach my grandchildren any peayers, Christmas carols or anything atal in fact. Life feels really weird now. I have extreme anxiety, fibromyalgia and rapid cycling moods. I rarely leave the house, am a phone addict and deeply unhappy. Can't work or do courses. Awake all night, asleep most of the day. Unable to cope with people (get upset easy) i am basically just waiting to die. That is awful isnt it? Maybe it would be better if i hadn't written this.

Question for Janelle: do you ever feel like having alot of children has held you back in life? This is 1 of the main criticisms i hear from women about the church's teaching on contraception - that it's anti-woman because it's forcing women to be "barefoot and pregnant". What would you say to someone who views it that way?

  • @sitka49
    @sitka49 Год назад

Except that the official Catholic position on NFP and contraception is not, "NFP is the best, safest, most uplifting form of contraception." Rather, the official Catholic doctrine is, 1) "NFP isn't contraception," and 2) "Contraception is inherently and universally evil."
Point 1) is absurd, and point 2) doesn't stand up to close scrutiny.
NFP is not contraceptive in the week or so that it involves abstention.
However, what about the week after that? The week where a couple engages in sexual relations only because they know that they will be sterile, and if they thought otherwise, they would not do it. Their hearts and minds intend for their actions to be only unitive and not procreative; if there was a chance of achieving both functions, then they would back off. Sex only fits into their plans so long as procreation is not a reasonably possible result.
In that week, Natural Family Planning is clearly a contraceptive plan.
The Savior's teaching was that intention is key. He warned that a man who "looketh on a woman, to lust after her" has already committed adultery in his heart. There is no need to enquire further about what means the man might have used to act on that lust; he is already condemned and ought to repent.
Surely a couple who looks on the next month, with the intent to be sexually active but not to become pregnant, has already separated the unitive and procreative functions of sexual relations in their heart.
That's fine, but if it is already established that the intention is (by Catholic standards) morally wrong, there is no need to examine the object used before concluding that the act must necessarily be morally wrong. Using lawful means can never redeem an evil intention.

NFP is a novus ordo teaching and quite at odds with the true teachings of the Catholic Church on families and children.
