Lots of folks complaining that they finished the game already. I think the main campaign is just a bonus to the game. I've played for about 15 hours so far and I'm still running around New Atlantis trying to find those faulty Power switch breakers. And that rogue robot that came charging out of that poor dudes apartment because he tried to rip off the seller by not paying for it. Wow!
Yeah, just like it’d be odd to just go after alduin in Skyrim and then think there’s nothing else to do. I’ve been playing the uc/crimson fleet storyline and forgot constellation existed for the last 20 hours of playing
Lmao bro I'm 30 hrs in and I've only completed the FIRST mission from the main story. I took the explorer route and have been surveying planets one solar system at a time to 100% with the additional dungeon completions lol I'm having a blast so far
Specia” reason to keep repeating the main mission line, get something to start new game with and it levels up each time, plus also only way to level up some special skills you get later
Thrusters are for maneuverability, you press them to turn sharply whilst using your ships momentum. It basically means you can track enemies as they they past you. Not for speed like stated
If any one skill so far has annoyed me with the unlock requirements, it is Security. I'm just not finding enough locks to get the ranks and constantly running into locks I can't open. That said I really love the Digikey system, and is by far my favorite "lockpicking" mechanic in an RPG
Hey when you’re picking the lock and you’re scrolling through the combos you’ll notice the rings will turn into the collars blue or grey. If the ring is blue the unlock combo can be used on that ring and if the ring is grey that unlock combo can’t be used on that ring. Hope this is understandable if not just lmk
Problem is… you get one skill point per level. So say you want to max out these 13 skills mentioned, you’d have to reach level 52 which takes a very long time if you’re playing naturally. Likely about 70+ hours. This to me means the game was intentionally designed for builds, meaning you should focus on a core group that makes sense to you and your character and do it differently in a subsequent play though.
Yeah, tricky subject. Skill points take a while. Unlock n activate. It's definitely intended to be a marathon not a sprint imho. I'm enjoying the game alot while simultaneously disliking half of the half baked choices BGS made. Can't wait until mods n creation club come to console. That's when the real fun begins. #lightsabers and Millennium Falcon
@@berkowksame 😂 I need to practice more but the controls are a little too clunky to pickup in a fight and don’t translate when practicing solo Edit: Just learned there’s MAST Sim that simulates space battles. Good mini game to have. This game is huge!
@@berkowkit's pretty clutch once you get the hang of it. First of all you get to keep your momentum so you can do a 180 and fly backwards real quick. I think the ship ai really likes strafing runs so the thrusters let you turn quick to get behind people as they pass you. Second you can use it to dodge stuff. It lets you add some zigzag into your flight which will make more things miss.
I just start playing and haven't ignored any of the skills you mentioned so feel vindicated. Didn't know that you could lvl up individual skill so thanks for that.
Anything in the combat tree until lvl 50, later if you can put it off, is a wasted skill point. Spend them in the science tree on Weapon Engineering instead, you will be able to create better and more powerful weapons. By level 50 to 100 you will know which weapons you use most and then rather than spraying random points in the weapon tree you can focus the skills you use. In game play do not underestimate the use of Social skills: Just 1pt in Negotiation, Manipulating, Persuassion, Intimdation, Diplomacy can walk you through some sticky conversations in Main Story and Faction Quests. For increase skills checks that need ship kills there is always the simulator in the UC storyline
Concealment skill goes very well with Stealth. There's also a way to farm this. Find a planet with worms bunched together. Create an outpost nearby. Stealth melee kill them, leave planet, come back, rinse repeat.
I pick Perks based on character type. Like I get so annoyed by A.L.Fs shrieking when they spawn near me that I would make a Beast Hunter/Chef archetype as they share Gastronomy. Kill It and Grill It. Currently an Isolanist Space Scoundrel < 0 Companions/0 Crew >. All Companions are annoying to me.
Counter to what hes saying ive felt zero need to spec into any combat skills. That skill tree is inferior to all the others because combat is extremly easy in this game. Space combat can be challanging so specing into tech is important.
Yeah I was contemplating this as well. I could stealth shoot them from distance for extra damage and never get touched. This along with the skill that makes them fight each other, so I can then pick them off while hidden when they're at low health, has me thinking I'll do stealth as one of my first skills.
most the skills you mentioned is a yes. Security is a must have, boost pack training is defiantly a not for must have, medicine is a yes, weightlifting is a yes, piloting is a yes and no, targeting control systems only if you want to take ships, stealth never even used and on third play thru, gymnastics you on drugs, wellness is a yes, and planetary habitation doesn't need to be acquired to build on harsh planets, ballistics yes, demolitions lol what a joke, rapid reloading yes.
Pointless. You already make tonnes of money just from looting the equipment enemies drop, not to mention quest rewards and all the other ways to make money. I put one point in it early on, but in hindsight it was a wasted point because I'm rolling in cash anyway
Bethesda doesn't care about it's players that use Playstation. Didn't the CEO posted a "LOL" tweet when question about playstation? Don't think i will be renewing my ESO subscription.
PS has had exclusives for years. I don’t understand how PS players are upset another company has 1 exclusive. I wanted to play FF16 and 7 remake so I bought a PlayStation. Crying about it wouldn’t of helped me play it
I am not a PS5 vs Xbox person. I use playstation because my friends and family use it. What gets me upset at Bethesda is that once they sold out to Microsoft they showed a disregard to their playstation customers and we are customers since most of us pay a monthly fee to Bethesda to play on ESO. I could buy an Xbox and then pay the related costs for playing But as consumers we can also chose to let companies know we will not play into their manipulations. I have nothing against Xbox or any or console players. @@Dsrgreyy
I am nearly 60 and the last time I purchased a game was over 20 years ago. So the learning curve, for me, is almost vertical at this point so any help, like this, is appreciated. For me the hardest part is remembering which keys and buttons to press. I have never used an XBox controller before and, although I am playing it on my PC, I have already found that using a controller has a distinct advantage over using the keyboard for things like flying. But, all that said, I am having a complete ball playing this game.
Im 36, my wife gave me side eye when I told her i was excited for the game to drop. Glad to know gaming shouldn't stop @ 25 😊. Great game, glad your enjoying it!
Great to hear. The only piece of advice I’d give you is not to rush yourself learning niche controls, every inch of the maps, or obsessing over skills or outposts/ship building. Just do what you feel like doing and are comfortable with, and every now and then when you’re looking for something new, that’s the time to branch out a little bit. There’s no rush in this game. The learning curve was overwhelming for _me,_ and I’ve been playing Bethesda games since I was a teenager. Take your time and enjoy the little things as you go; you’ll figure out the more advanced stuff when you’re ready for it, and you’ll be way less likely to burn out in the meantime. That’s really something I wish someone had told me as much as it is advice to you, but either way, I’m glad you’re enjoying the game. Have a good one.
50 here and recognise what your saying. What helps me a lot when I really get stuck or forgot what keys to us, is just go to you tube. There is already a video on every aspect of this game. Just amazing how fast they appear.
If you are playing on normal difficulty, just know that the skills are basically a bonus and you could beat the game just fine without them. Starship may control a bit better with a controller, but shooting is actually easier with MKB so you could even leave controller plugged in and use it whenever you board your ship.
Just one detail, in the Piloting skill, thrusters aren't a "boost of speed"; thrusters allow movement of the ship up, down, and to the side by holding space while touching WASD or arrow keys (PC). This is separate from ordinary turning, which rotates the ship. You do a boost, which is extra thrust from the engines that helps to evade missiles, with the LShift key.
This is because on a rocket, 'thrusters' are small valves separate from the rocket engines that use compressed gas to change the orientation of the vehicle. In the game, you can't use thrusters at all without level 1 of the Piloting Skill.
I think a lot of people are playing their first Bethesda game or forget how to play them. Rushing through the story missions? Um do you Bethesda bro? I was told to play through the story mission through Into The Unknown mission. I did that with only a few side quests. It made sense I suppose, in retrospect. I haven’t been back to the story missions since…
After 60 hours I think if you spec into weapon crafting/modding then you don’t really need to spec into skills that boost damage for specific weapons. I’m playing on very hard and I have no weapon skills, but I can put good mods on my guns and I never have a problem in combat even against much higher level enemies. Likewise if you choose damage skills, you don’t really need modding/crafting skills for weapons as you find tons of modded ones from enemies and exploring. Just my opinion.
Yeah, normally in games idgaf about crafting things, but in this game I started out by modding all my guns... Even in very hard, it is unfortunately very easy. I can just go around enemies that are twice my level and slowly loot the place and kill them after if I want to. If you max out the other skill tree... lmao
I think the most important skills are the ones that support your playstyle. I see so many people recommend stealth, but to me that's slow and boring. I would rather explore and do that kind of slow content. And that's what's important, level the things you focus on, if you run around and explore, fitness and boost pack is a must. So is scanner and astrophysics, especially if you do survey missions and sell the data. Just an example though.
Stealth is pretty fun just as a way to get free damage on the biggest enemy. Sneak, headshot the biggest baddie with your hardest hitting weapon, get that fat 2x damage, then go guns blazing.
Never had issues with med kits etc. as I am quite cautious when clearing out sites etc. but the rest are a great starting point. Thanks for the video 👍🏾
Also use the beds that are in most of the main missions and side quests scattered around the missions. I have 100s of med packs. I wouldn't waste points in meds unless you're playing on hard or extra hard
It should be noted that most every skill (all of them?) gives more dialogue options once you get the 1st ranks. Like Starship design during a quest line about ship building, or medical every time you find someone injured.
Right?? It's an RPG, not a shooter, but also all the skills listed were combat and base building.. persuasions one of the most useful skills, and opens up waaaayyyy more dialog!
Yes! I chose "Diplomat" for this very reason & bc of experience with other RPG's & how insanely important it was (Mass Effect particularly stands out with this). I cannot stress enough how many times I've used persuasion already & I've hardly touched the main story so far lol
@@ravensbigtrusss7905 Nice! It has come in handy many times already! And plus having that little extra boost in Commerce especially in the early hours of the game is nice too 😁
I would give the game a 6 out of 10........ Lots of promises made but most dont deliver!!!!! Most planets are all the same so if you have been on one planet biome you have seen them all!!!! The base building is nice but I find it mostly useless......aside from the ship dock with lots of parts!!!!!!!! If you want to make money there are lots of other ways to do it! Many of the skills are broken and full of exploits......... well this is a Bethesda game so I never expected any less LOL
Security - I just got it to level 3 as I didn't find the 4th level to be worth it over other options. Boost Pack - I played around with it on a save but ultimately reverted it because it wasn't all that useful or at least not over other options. Medicine - Once you get better armor, healing becomes less of an issue and healing kits or plentiful. Weight Lifting - This is useful if you want to haul items to sell. It's one that I did max out. Piloting - I maxed it simply to gain access to the best ships. Targeting Control Systems - I'm on the fence with this one. I only found it useful in situations where I'm fighting 4+ ships at the same time when time is important. Stealth - This is a very important skill if you plan to steal/pickpocket. I didn't use it for the attack bonus as I just rush through everything. Gymnastics - I avoided as I saw no point is investing anything into it. Wellness - I maxed this one as health is important. Planetary Habituation - I'd play around with outposts first and see if it's something you'd enjoy playing. I personally avoided this one as there was nothing that I could get from this content that I couldn't get elsewhere. Ballistics - I took this to level 3 and I believe I maxed Rifles. The ammunition for these weapons is just plentiful. You may have to resort to buying ammunition for the other weapons. Demolitions - I largely ignored this as I was killing everything quick enough with just regular weapons. Rapid Reloading - I think I just invested into the 1st tier only. With all Bethesda games, you can quickly reach a point where all enemies hardly hurt you and you do enough damage that you can just rush through and kill everything. I can clear most "dungeons" in about 10 minutes and I spend another 10-15 looking for perk/skill magazines. I reach this at about 10 hours in and have so far been able to maintain this as I level through acquiring better gear. Also do not invest into persuasion. You can just save beforehand and keep reloading until you pass the check.
Bruh, maxing out persuasion is 100% worth it. I don't have any purist qualms with save scumming but it's such a pain in the ass reloading a conversation 2 or 3 times
Targeting Control Sys. is useful for disabling ships' engines without destroying the ship so you can board and take it over. It's also fun to surgically disarm them. TCS also makes your lock-ons for firing missiles faster. It's essential.
Loving the game, i do wish the combat was alil more difficult and the enemy ai was alil more advanced. Space combat is good. But gun combat is very easy and ive never died 60 hours in and there is zero incentive to try to stealth areas when you can eaily breeze through. The hardest part is deciding what loot to carry lol. Im not saying it needs to be dark souls difficulty but it should be as difficult as most other standard triple A open world shooters. It feels like they wanted to cater to mindless gamers and people who are really bad at games, or new to gaming. Cuz in that sense its very accessible cuz literally anyone could do it. My grandma whose never played a game in her life could probably clear areas without dying if i showed her how to play. But i think thats what they were going for. Obviously that was alil bit of an exaggeration tho. But seriously the gunplay could be so mucb fun if it was harder n the enemies were better. The things keeping me playing is definetly the ship building, quests/dialogue, likable characters/npcs. And the freedom and roleplaying elements. But alot of the game is spent in combat and it would really elevate the game if that combat was more of a challenge.
If you build a good outpost and mine the right resources, you can simply fabricate items to mine XP and Credits. This means that you really only need to complete the associated tasks to get to the next skill level, once the tasks are completed for the skills you want to acquire, just hit your outpost and craft away until you get the skill points you need to move through tree. Sell all of the items you craft and you'll have more credits than any questline can offer you.
A couple things.... -Don't forget you can have your companion help you carry the items you pick up. This is a game changer because it essentially doubles your carry capacity. Also you can upgrade ships to hold a TON of items (I have my ships carry capacity at 850 and I'm a level 12). Finally you can sell the items you put in your ship to merchants, making it even easier to sell. Sure, it's tedious giving your companion stuff you can't carry (thanks Bethesda), but you only get skill points as you level up so it takes time to earn them. You're checking every nook and cranny for digipicks and safes anyway, it's not that bad handing Barrett the seven pound pack you just picked up. -Save those skill points for one rank Stealth and four ranks in Theft. Pickpocketing (and just stealing in general) will make you a TON of money stealing credits, weapons, etc. Rank One stealth tells you when you're hidden or detected when you're crouched, that along is huge for stealing (aka making money and getting better stuff). Also bring Alejandra along with you, she really appreciates your sleight of hand skills.
Don't waste a point on medicine, crank there game up to very hard for extra rares. Games extremely easy, its Bethesda A.I. Maybe it's harder with a controller, otherwise total waste given how much of a grind this game is for some bizarre reason.
In regards to the weightlifting skill it is recommended to do this on a moon with low gravity as it allows you to run much longer before o2 runs out - essentially you can max out the skill tree in ½ hour-ish
@@donomani98 Jumping while sprinting is still sprinting. That's how I got my weight lifting credit, entirely by accident; was on a moon making short run-hops and then using my boost pack to keep me moving forward. Then I got the ding for the perk credit.
Nice !! I was going to reach out over the weekend and after watching your build video to see if you would recommend skill lines in some sort of pecking order. Having an outpost set up video and recommendations would be helpful next. Haven’t found a way to deconstruct weapons in the mod stations if that’s going to be an option.
I don’t have the perk and still succeed about half the time with persuasion so I guess it is better to choose skills that unlock things rather than improve them. Although the persuasion is really fun so probably worth it.
well that lot are def a good lot! im still on my first playthru 😱😳 after about 8 days!! i've got most of the "skills" (early game ones) from the planets too!! explored/surveyed 150+ planets and moons, but not looked at some of these! (i guess its fallout 4 playings fault! 😂) plus most of my main quests are already done! im lev 43 and only just getting some of these! i went the surveying route tbh, geology/botany/zoology and i dont recall the last thimg (astrophysics?) and i was doing it without the jetpack... BAAAAAD IDEA! the jp has helped tons both locating things and getting out of very bad scrapes! (yea even in firefights with pirates and others!) tbh, this is a good list, but im kinda die hard avoid combat skills (bar ballistics!) to start with and focused on science skills mostly! playthru 2 will be using this list to give it a shot 😊
I feel quite a few people are just focusing on main stories quests there is so many side quests and content to do this game can litterly take you over 100 hrs so take your time and enjoy everything its not a race.
forgot to mention that demolis also incresses damage of the legendary effect on weps that have explosive rounds. get that on a shotgun, and man... youll kill the enemy ((and maybe yourself if you're too close)) in a single shot.. but ive only found that the explosive bullets are random... because i guess bathesda saw fallout 4 explosive bullets and they decided it was too op... so now its random.... nothing mods cant fix eventually.
I finished the main campaign relatively quickly but let's be honest until you've ran through it the story at least twice you haven't beat it. Cuz once you hit new game plus the story changes so much just cuz of the starborn dialogue options
Can you still be a pirate and an officer in one playthrough? Or do everything in one playthrouigh? Why do I need to play new game +? When i can't carry over my gear items credits weapons etc..?
Boost packing really does add something to combat. Was missing VATS for a bit until I started getting onto something high up on an opponents flank and fucking up whole squads that way.
Plus on the highest difficulty you need that angle to soften up squads with grenades or launchers because they are bullet sponges on highest difficulties.
Brush Great video Hack. I’ve maxed out quite a few skills quickly first one is Persuasion. And Lock picking .and the jet pack fully upgraded .I’m level 24 rite now . And I’ve unlocked 3 superpowers. Which looks like there’s a lot more to unlock. I’m currently doing the vanguard faction which is quite good. I’m playing on Xbox one and it’s has its problems cause of that and rite now I don’t own an xs ,Anyways great video.
I think your choice of skills is heavily centered around combat and looting. Not that they are bad skills, but there is entire aspects of the game that surveying, exploration and outpost expansion/research has a huge impact on
I regret putting so many points into the various weapon categories early. (I'm still early in the game too). I originally was gonna RP as a psycho space gun nut but I have figured out how to build competent ships and now I wanna be a Starfleet captain lol.
I have a job, but started early access and dedicate about 90% not work time to play. The four day Labor Day weekend helped too. My girl is mad at me but I make some time for her when I have to
First aid perk is kind of a waste. Money is so abundant you can just buy up all the early game health kits/trauma packs and save your points on this one. As you level up you get better armor and never get that hurt anyway. One rank of cellular regeneration heals you outside of combat too, so you can save on health kits that way as well.
FYI explosive legendary weapons in this game are more amazing than Fallout 4 or 76s explosive weapons. In Starfield the bullets randomly switch to explosive as you fire so automatic weapons are excellent, and the explosions themselves are insanely powerful. I haven’t tested whether demolition perks boost the explosive damage but I assume they do. Even without demo the explosions decimate enemies. Edit) the explosive legendary effect is powerful enough to severely injure you if you’re too close! Be careful! Edit 2) Ranking up Demolition perks increases the damage of the Legendary explosive effect on weapons! Each time the explosive effect happens your shot is doing double damage basically, for example my rifle the bullet does 50 damage and the explosion does an additional 50. Then when you rank up Demolition that increases the explosive damage even further.
@@HackTheMinotaur I just assumed that it does because they made sure Demolition buffs explosive bullet damage in Fallout 76. So I could be wrong but I will test when I get off work tonight. Like I said, in Starfield not every round explodes but the ones that do are WAY more powerful than explosive rounds in Fallout. Also there are mods available on some weapons like the A99 rifle that give you explosive rounds, I haven’t tested them yet because I don’t have the required crafting level but I’m curious how that will work on a weapon that has the legendary explosive effect.
@@HackTheMinotaur tested and confirmed, Demolition perk increases the damage of explosive rounds from the explosive legendary effect! For the rifle I’m using, an explosive Beowulf, the damage per shot from the regular round is 50, when the explosive effect happens, it’s another 50 - after increasing Demolition to rank 2 the explosive damage increased to 63. So essentially each time the explosive round goes off it’s double damage (before demolition perks), then with rank 2 of demolition you’re getting a little bit more explosive damage and slightly more than double damage total. I’m gonna test the damage whenever I can rank up Demolition again - and once I am able to unlock the explosive mod for the weapons that have it available I’ll test it too and get back to you.
Talk to her and either ask her to wait or tell her to part ways. When she first joins you there is a mission you need to complete before she can leave your party
I agree with 1,2 but 3 medicine is not needed, if you are having problems at low level try not to run into the enemy without a weapon and punching them. Maybe try a gun and using cover, I never had a problem with my health as you can sleep in a bed for 1 hour to get full health and use food you collect as well as the 3 types of medpacks so do not get that skill. Option 4 is also not needed if you do not mind not getting achievements as you can simply use a console command to make your carry weight 8000 or more which means you can loot everything and never have to worry about space but if you(for some reason) like getting achievements then sure get it but 100kg is not much and I would rather pick up everything. Option 5 piloting: Never had a problem with moving the ship but getting a better ships later is going to be good so not important to start but handy later. Option 6 Targeting: I have that one and yes its a must not only to help you target systems but you can knock out their engines and steal their ship. Option 7: Stealth: Yup love stealth and handy later when you get more damage from stealth. Option 8 and 9: Not had problems moving about so not that handy and I have yet to build a base because I carry everything with me and but is handy if you like building a base but tbh get it later. Option 10 ballistics: Sure its good but do you need it? No, I can kill a terramorph with no problems but if you have nothing else to skill up damage is handy but you dont need it and TBH I am playing on hard and kill most enemy in a few shots. Option 11 demolitions: Never uses a grenade Option 12 rapid reload: Again never had a problem killing things so why bother. What I would suggest is getting the skills needed to mod your weapons as when you find a nice one you can mod it the way you like, all in all pick the skills to suit your play style as I am sure some nutter will have picked cooking because they like to cook even though it's rubbish.
Don't forget you can sleep for an hour in a bed and head completely. On the Mantis mission, when I was running low on medpacks, I'd just barcktrack and use one of the beds in the compound to heal.
What do you mean? Didn't notice that companions sucked more than in F3, FNV or F4. They are mostly mules if you don't invest into skills that increase their damage/hp
I agree with all your picks except gymnastics, the combat slide is a joke in its current form imo. Maybe they will patch it later so that it has a longer slide.
Almost the very first thing I did was max out the Boost Pack training; VERY helpful in super-low levels not only to discover unreachable areas but find a lot of weapons, credits and locked boxes you would miss, but also to help you escape and survive when you are in battle! Have used in after discovering abandoned areas and finding a beehive of spacepunks or Ecliptics, killing a couple but then getting overwhelmed - i would leave, go back to my ship, rest, then come back and attack some more lol! You MUST open the Stealth perk too: Nothing more fun than sneaking and tossing a grenade or two to 'pre-clear' an area, ESPECIALLY in Labratories!!! :D Thanks for the vid!!
Have all of them besides the combat ones. Havnt really needed them. Been destroying everything on very hard difficulty since level 6 without them. Level 19 now and still op
can confirm, as somone who started playing 2 hours ago. This can be done at level 3 woth 1 point in Booster pack, you may need amp and ofcourse the healthpacks
Some may consider this cheating, but I’ve been using console commands to automatically give me the higher level versions of skills when I meet their in-game requirements (eg. I’ll give myself the skill point to upgrade to the second lockpicking tier after I’ve picked 5 locks). I’ll still have to get to level 80 before I’ll have the first tier of every skill, and I’m still doing the in-game labor to get the higher tiers, this just saves me from the monotonous xp grinding I’d feel compelled to do otherwise. I feel like it’s a good balance. I’m still earning every skill I unlock, and their higher tiers, it just isn’t as unreasonable getting to my end goal of maxing every skill.
I like the game enough that I don't actually want to make it end sooner, and there are so many ways to make XP that I like to mix up my activities anyway, so there's no real grinding. There is also no need to get every level of every skill for one character as using different ones next time is what makes replaying as a different character interesting; that's one of the main principles of RPGs since the 1970s when everyone played them on tabletops (some still do). But everyone can play their game the way they want of course.
@@TB-wvvvw I don’t want to have to replay the game a bunch to get the full experience, and getting every skill in the game normally would require me to level up 365 times. I have a life outside of videogames, so I’m not even gonna try that. I’m not trying to make the game end sooner, I’m just cutting out the severe time wasting aspect of it.
I'd argue that absolutely none of the combat skills are even necessary. It makes the game too easily. I haven't taken any non science or social skills and deblierately fight in lvl 70+ zones as a lvl 25 for any sort of challenge
Rapid reloading is unfortunately bugged. I believe the first point is the best value (30% faster reloading), but it only works it you don't have any explosives equipped. Also, FYI, shield skill is also bugged, sometimes working negatively in your ship skills and reducing it drastically. Don't invest points here until it's patched.
People *just complain nowadays, as a society we've become more sensitive, so you just can't call a hater a hater anymore. Rather than call it out, we join as a majority.or birds of a feather. Starfield is great. What Bethesda does is great. That should be celebrated. If I don't like something I won't support it. Not spend 1,000s of hrs building a following on hating said game. I apologize for the length.
So I don’t plan to do NG+. Can anyone she’d light on XP gains. Do you gain more XP while at higher lvls or is XP tied to difficulty? Also I’m at lvl 40ish and have been raided by the starborn at constellation. Can I continue getting more powers or are new powers tied to NG+?
I went Balistics + pistol early. at rank 3 in both you get the full damage bonus, they stack together and pistol has the highest boost out of all the damage modifiers. by the time I found my fist big revolver, using it with this combo deletes most enemies with one head shot.
Particle Beam weapons get advantage from ballistic , rifle or pistol( depending on the type of particle weapon), laser and the particle weapon skill. That's a quadruple dip damage right there. So use a pistol but get a particle beam one and all the skills I mention gives it a damage boost.
@@lord461 I wonder how you measured that the Laser and Ballistic weapons skills enhance Particle Beam weapons. It seems unlikely since PB weapons have their own separate skill and this would have to be a bug.
is it normal that I played like 185 hours, arrived at NG+2 and I am even starting getting a little bored of the game, and I haven't built any outposts? What are outposts for? My experience of the game demonstrates that you can beat the game without 🤷♂
Gratz, you picked the best and most obvious choices in game while ignoring helpful stuff like Persuasion (that help greatly in dialogues) or astrology (that boosts XP gain/saves time).
This is pretty misleading, especially since you only get 1 skill point per level up. Realistically the first section should have been "Persuasion, security, and stealth ASAP maybe even during creation. Then boost pack, piloting, targeting control systems, and theft by level 5 or 6. Then choose organically based on your playstyle"
This list was made by someone with no experience building characters or exploring in Bethesda games and just treats Starfield like a looter shooter. Physical skill tree is a waste. Security, targeting systems, persuasion, piloting, ship building, spacesuit design, (maybe weapon modifying), then pick a weapon type and a ship weapon type. Really all you need, especially starting out. Not a bad idea to start putting points into other social skills either, like scavenging, so you can get to the Leadership skill for later levels.
Don't see any benefit to Medicine... I'm level 20 and have probably used less than 10 health packs, at level 3 stealth and with several silenced weapons including a sniper I can easily clear most POIs without ever being seen never mind shot
Weightlifting skill is such a waste of time to spend in. Focus on fitness for that extra oxygen your character has. Especially usefull when you find spacesuits that reduced oxygen input using any action. You'll see a noticeable difference with how slow you lose oxygen even encumbered
5:35 or so, I don't think you get what thrusters are... they are NOT boosters, which you can use from the start of the game. Thrusters are a HUGE part of effective combat piloting, allowing you to coast in one direction at the last speed you got up to, while turning your ship around and facing your enemies and blasting away at them while heading in the opposite direction, forcing them to chase you down instead of engaging in direct ship to ship dogfights. Think of those old top-down arcade games with the ship dodging asteroids while blasting at enemy ships, you get to move in one direction while aiming in another
I feel like the overincumbered isnt nearly as punishing as fallout or elder scrolls. Sure you cant run forever. But at least you can still run. I dont even bother worrying about it. I dont honestly mind having to run back to my ship. Plus it's kinda of funny listening to npcs telling me I need to drop things.
Well that was a useless video showcasing only the most usefully skills in the game. Maybe name your video less click batey....wait... it worked and I clicked on it...damn it.
Very Combat focused .... If you are playing to shoot or blow up everything that moves then that is not a bad build. my guy is a little less predictable and interesting
HAAARD disagree on medicine skill unless you're gonna be dumb and fist fight enemies in an open area Med packs in this game are plentiful, and skill points are not.
Many thanks to Bethesda for sponsoring this video, and if you don’t have it yet, you can pick up Starfield beginning September 1 on Xbox and PC with the Starfield Premium Edition, and it will be available for everyone else starting September 6th. Use this link to get started! bit.ly/45EPIun
Idiot gun crafting and spacesuit crafting is are your most important skills after security. You are useless.
"Early on" if you add up all this you will be at level 30-40
Lots of folks complaining that they finished the game already. I think the main campaign is just a bonus to the game. I've played for about 15 hours so far and I'm still running around New Atlantis trying to find those faulty Power switch breakers. And that rogue robot that came charging out of that poor dudes apartment because he tried to rip off the seller by not paying for it. Wow!
Main Story is just the appetizer
Yeah that robot made me jump too lol
Tons more show up later. Also you can try some of the bounty missions from the mission board. I get tons of locked containers and doors with those.
Moon base on earth moon has 8 advanced, 3 Expert
Hacking ATMs at the banks works well if you have the sneak lvl
Hey when you’re picking the lock and you’re scrolling through the combos you’ll notice the rings will turn into the collars blue or grey. If the ring is blue the unlock combo can be used on that ring and if the ring is grey that unlock combo can’t be used on that ring. Hope this is understandable if not just lmk
@@justinfegley2020What is that supposed to help? I don't think you actually read my comment.
70+ hours into a Bethesda game = just getting started.
this guy knows it @@lizardman7364 🤩
There’s also ng+, the game us literally BEGGING you to play for forever
Yeah, tricky subject. Skill points take a while. Unlock n activate. It's definitely intended to be a marathon not a sprint imho. I'm enjoying the game alot while simultaneously disliking half of the half baked choices BGS made. Can't wait until mods n creation club come to console. That's when the real fun begins. #lightsabers and Millennium Falcon
Shit…I’m 80hrs in and just got to level 18 lmao
Piloting unlocks the thruster, that let's you hold spacebar and use you go straight up, down, or strafe left and right
Just so you know rank 1 of piloting doesn’t help with boost, it allows you to strafe w/ your ship by holding RB
Is that thing any good? Battles with 3+ enemies are intense so I just don't have concentration to use it
@@berkowksame 😂 I need to practice more but the controls are a little too clunky to pickup in a fight and don’t translate when practicing solo Edit: Just learned there’s MAST Sim that simulates space battles.
In game play do not underestimate the use of Social skills:
Just 1pt in Negotiation, Manipulating, Persuassion, Intimdation, Diplomacy can walk you through some sticky conversations in Main Story and Faction Quests.
All sounds great if you can find the skill points to get that stuff 🤔
With several 50+ characters. No need for medicine, forget weight lifting as you use your jetpack and personal atmosphere
I've got 4.5 days worth right now, level 38. Still doing game play, n side quest.
I haven’t gotten anything worth anything from lockpocking
Is there really no way to mod melee weapons?
None
If I use stealth I don’t need health 😂💪
Commerce?
I’m 58 and playing it on XBOX Series S on Gamepass and you and I are having the same learning experience. But I’m getting the hang of it.
I did not know this.... game changer lol
This is because on a rocket, 'thrusters' are small valves separate from the rocket engines that use compressed gas to change the orientation of the vehicle. In the game, you can't use thrusters at all without level 1 of the Piloting Skill.
@@TB-wvvvw i know it makes so much sense :)

I think a lot of people are playing their first Bethesda game or forget how to play them. Rushing through the story missions? Um do you Bethesda bro? I haven’t been back to the story missions since…
I've been searching for posts, articles and videos about a good place to pause the main storyline so thanks for posting this.

If you max out the other skill tree... lmao
A bit surprised that there is no option to buy mods you want from vendors.
@@berkowk Or just take mods from one gun to another one
@@SpartanOlialso not an option, dissasembled like half my arsenal before realising that mods dont get removed instead they get deleted
@@T0rrente18 I know. I was adding to his "no option to buy mods"
I tried stealth but my compsnions just run in guns blazing and ruin it
I put 1 point into stealth just to have that stealth meter when I need it, not going any further than that
Never had issues with med kits etc. as I am quite cautious when clearing out sites etc. but the rest are a great starting point. Thanks for the video 👍🏾
Also use the beds that are in most of the main missions and side quests scattered around the missions. I have 100s of med packs. I wouldn't waste points in meds unless you're playing on hard or extra hard
@@StoveToTheFace As someone on extra hard: Not even then. Still 100s of med packs, 100s of trauma packs, etc.
It should be noted that most every skill (all of them?) gives more dialogue options once you get the 1st ranks. Like Starship design during a quest line about ship building, or medical every time you find someone injured.
Good list! I'd add commerce over demolition though!
commerce is pointless
PERSUASION. Absolutely essential skill. Can't believe it didn't get a mention.
I chose diplomat too
@@ravensbigtrusss7905 Nice! It has come in handy many times already! And plus having that little extra boost in Commerce especially in the early hours of the game is nice too 😁
I’d switch that for stealth. Stealth isn’t really important over the easier persuasion
Thrusters don't boost speed. They allow to manuever up down left and right like a helicopter.
Commerce. It's easy to level, and more money is always nice.
So many are sleeping on this skill!
Also boosts what you get for ship sales and decreases what it costs to register ships
I agree with most but the persuasion saves a lot of time going through a chat 10+ times
@@TB-wvvvw 100% agree, it's extremely useful and it really only needs 1 point.
I have 50 hours and haven’t even done more than 3 main quests
Here's a tip: always pick up dropped firearms as well as ammo - enemies often leave ammo in the attached magazines. :)
Where did you get 1/2 hour ish from i maxed it out in like 10-15mins from the start of the game
Once you get the personal atmosphere power its even easier
You can easily do it by doing a sprint and *jumping*; jump time is still sprinting, but you regen O2, so long as you aren't overencumbered.
@@KainYusanagi Jumping isnt sprinting
@@donomani98 Jumping while sprinting is still sprinting. That's how I got my weight lifting credit, entirely by accident; was on a moon making short run-hops and then using my boost pack to keep me moving forward. Then I got the ding for the perk credit.
Nice !! I was going to reach out over the weekend and after watching your build video to see if you would recommend skill lines in some sort of pecking order. Having an outpost set up video and recommendations would be helpful next.
Haven’t found a way to deconstruct weapons in the mod stations if that’s going to be an option.
How is persuation not on this list? Its S tier with lockpicking. There is so much Dialogue in this game with perduade options its a must!
I avoided a huge ammount of troubles and earned a lot of stuff with that skill
Agreed.
I don’t have the perk and still succeed about half the time with persuasion so I guess it is better to choose skills that unlock things rather than improve them. Although the persuasion is really fun so probably worth it.
well that lot are def a good lot! im still on my first playthru 😱😳 after about 8 days!! i've got most of the "skills" (early game ones) from the planets too!! explored/surveyed 150+ planets and moons, but not looked at some of these! i went the surveying route tbh, geology/botany/zoology and i dont recall the last thimg (astrophysics?) and i was doing it without the jetpack... BAAAAAD IDEA! the jp has helped tons both locating things and getting out of very bad scrapes! (yea even in firefights with pirates and others!)
tbh, this is a good list, but im kinda die hard avoid combat skills (bar ballistics!) to start with and focused on science skills mostly!
playthru 2 will be using this list to give it a shot 😊
I bin runnin starfield for 9 days closer to 10 an haven’t beat it yet….it’s how u -lay the game…no need to rush
For the pilot skill just do the vanguard training sim
Brush Great video Hack. I’ve maxed out quite a few skills quickly first one is Persuasion. And Lock picking .and the jet pack fully upgraded .I’m level 24 rite now . And I’ve unlocked 3 superpowers. Which looks like there’s a lot more to unlock. I’m currently doing the vanguard faction which is quite good. I’m playing on Xbox one and it’s has its problems cause of that and rite now I don’t own an xs ,Anyways great video.
I think your choice of skills is heavily centered around combat and looting. Not that they are bad skills, but there is entire aspects of the game that surveying, exploration and outpost expansion/research has a huge impact on
I have zero investment in combat skills and I am having a brilliant play through so far. So many ways to play this game and succeed.
I regret putting so many points into the various weapon categories early. (I'm still early in the game too). I originally was gonna RP as a psycho space gun nut but I have figured out how to build competent ships and now I wanna be a Starfleet captain lol.
Your videos are great man. I’ve watched you improve for years. This is the first starfield video I’m seeing and i think it’s great.
Fuck all this, all I cared about what weapon and spacesuit upgrades. All of the research is complete now lol I’m obsessed with upgrading gear
ngl, this is exactly what I focused on in the early game. One of my main goals in this game is to have the perfect spaceship and the perfect gear.
Ha, I got good at throwing grenades blindly. Personal rank up one woo
How people have played 200 hrs of this game already is beyond me
No Job No Life
They had the press copy for 2 weeks (or so) before the game came out.
When you disable the ships engine, how do you board them?
Second playthrough? really. its ben out for 2 weeks. no reason to restart just enjoy the journey.
Let me know if you can get data on that! That would be insane if that perk works!!
I think I encountered a bug. I can't get rid of Sarah, she is so annoying and keeps following me.
Option 11 demolitions: Never uses a grenade
Option 12 rapid reload: Again never had a problem killing things so why bother.
What I would suggest is getting the skills needed to mod your weapons as when you find a nice one you can mod it the way you like, all in all pick the skills to suit your play style as I am sure some nutter will have picked cooking because they like to cook even though it's rubbish.
I bet your fun at parties
100% agree

Burning through medpacks like crazy? Can’t imagine why? Lol
Don't forget you can sleep for an hour in a bed and head completely. On the Mantis mission, when I was running low on medpacks, I'd just barcktrack and use one of the beds in the compound to heal.
get isolation for all the bonuses to being alone because companion ai is busted
You get a bonus for being solo???
What do you mean? Didn't notice that companions sucked more than in F3, FNV or F4. They are mostly mules if you don't invest into skills that increase their damage/hp
in F4 they werent suiciding and blocking ur aim 24/7 they had some use. starfield is 100x worse because pajeet coding@@berkowk
I agree with all your picks except gymnastics, the combat slide is a joke in its current form imo. Maybe they will patch it later so that it has a longer slide.
Ya, its probably the weakest slide out of any game I've played. I dunno if it gets better when you rank it up
Almost the very first thing I did was max out the Boost Pack training; VERY helpful in super-low levels not only to discover unreachable areas but find a lot of weapons, credits and locked boxes you would miss, but also to help you escape and survive when you are in battle! :D Thanks for the vid!!
tbh, I think just 1 point in boost packs is good enough for almost all situations. Maxing it out is very FUN though so I'd say 100% worth it.
Medicine also provides additional dialogue options
Have all of them besides the combat ones. Havnt really needed them. Been destroying everything on very hard difficulty since level 6 without them. Level 19 now and still op
How can you heal your party member?
This game under delivered on content and performance. I already beat it and moved on to Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, which is easily 10x better.
15 hrs in got my first main story line ability now just side questing. Well worth the $ imo
for me its not but i got the fullgame demo anyway before buying any game ;D
@@sirbonobo3907the game gets better the further you get.
@@sirbonobo3907 time vs cost, its worth it
can confirm, as somone who started playing 2 hours ago. This can be done at level 3 woth 1 point in Booster pack, you may need amp and ofcourse the healthpacks
Was hoping to hear some useful information. Maybe learn about skills I haven't utilised.. This video however just covered the obvious skills
Haha, yes that is considered cheating, but who cares, you can play however you want.
Definitely cheating....lol
@@bkteleven Ask me if I care
Thanks for the tips
My experience of the game demonstrates that you can beat the game without 🤷♂
an "anti-gravity crush" doesn't sound very powerful. Like, less powerful than a puff of wind, since anti-gravity reduces mass (thus force) to zero.
I fly through places without needing med packs. But I pumped my ballistics so enemies die pretty fast
Agree, upgrading medicine is a huge waste of time and skill points. It's way easier to just get good armor and weapons so you don't heal as much.
This is one of the worst suggested skills list. Obviously from a new Bethesda game player. Starfield really is bringing out the want-a-be posers.
You mentioned 3 types of Boost Packs: Basic, Power, and Balanced. But there is also a Skip variant. What does that do?
HAAARD disagree on medicine skill unless you're gonna be dumb and fist fight enemies in an open area Med packs in this game are plentiful, and skill points are not.
Grenades are good in beginning but don’t scale well at all. Poor skill. Combat Slide way too short, again another subpar skill to put points in.
OK GUIZE YOU NEED TO LEVEL UP EVERYTHING. Veeeery helpful.
