For a first time using oil paints, the detail is impeccable, and the time is worth it. He even has those red eyelid covers we cant use any more. Very detailed. Good Job.
Absolutely perfect mate👌, so much attention to detail, the tyre writing is the best I've ever seen and that driver!!!. Had a good laugh at the sexy music😂. Good on you for your generous sponsorship RC ELF, Good things happen to good people and I hope good things are coming your way too👌🦘🇦🇺
Thanks mate! I owe it to those magnifying glass, without them it would look like I was painting by numbers lol. Haha, thought you would get a kick out of that. Do you know how hard it is to search for free music when using the P word in the search? 😂🤣 The RC Elf is awesome. Agreed mate, I hope good things are coming his way too! 👍
@@RCHobbyShed I'm definitely getting a pair of the mad scientists glasses! Maybe my rc builds won't look like finger Painting😂 Maybe just search Barry White music.... Oh hang on that is P music🤣
@@outbackrcaustralia4895 They're great and really helped me for this car. They helped my finger paint will look a bit more intentional 😂. YES! Barry white, why didn't I think of that?! 🤣👍
The driver really turned out nice. The oil paints give it a good pop . I like the bz motor too it matches perfectly. I need to find some of those magnifying glasses too . It would be nice if you did a video on your technique using the soap and water putting on the decals . Seeing you actually do it might give me the confidence to try it .
Thanks Eric! Oh yeah, oil paints are great for detail. I've seen some really nice drivers out there done by more experienced oil painters. The magnifying glasses are awesome, don't know why I didn't get some years ago, and they're so cheap! The soap and water method is very simple. Just add some dish washing liquid to water and dip the decals in before you apply them. That way you can move them around without it sticking as soon as it touches the body. Then I use the heat gun to warm the decals so they conform to curves in the body easier, a cheap hair dryer can also be used. I may do a video on it in the future but until then the video below should give you an idea and hopefully some confidence . 👍 Go to 2:25 in this video. ruclips.net/video/7t7d73ui4i4/видео.html
I'm late to the party 😬! She's a real beauty, done it justice there Mick 👌🏼😎. I'm thinking about starting my 1st restoration on an old painted driver figure 😫.. I might need to buy a new one just in case 😄
Lol all good, Owen! Thanks mate, I'm quite happy with it. Good luck with your driver resto. I often buy two bodies or drivers where I can, just in case I ruin one. 😂👍
Thanks mate! Sorry, I didn't mention where exactly but they're all over eBay. The seller I used is out of stock now, best to search for headband magnifier or magnifying headset. Haha, I know how it is mate. I'm thinking of buying a spare set in case I break this one so I'm not stranded. 😂👍
Fantastic job Mick, i missed out on the Kyosho beetle and swapped the wife for a kyosho chevelle and have the sand scorcher. Then I found a Dark impact and it accidently jumped into the cart , just had to get it. That magnifying setup is great. My eyes are stuffed ,this would work great especially with the light. My 360 was hard to start , eyes are so bad I didn't notice the rotor button had a build up of carbon on it. 2 seconds of sanding and fires every time. They say the Vqs has a weak part that's hard to get, g part I think . Was thinking about getting one and making it from alloy. Wife can't say nothing either, she just bought a Kraton exb and stole my motor combo for it. We got the Kyosho fazer Camaro and it does 30mph stock. I put a 3.5 lrp combo in and the drive shaft became a skipping rope. Nearly exploded ha,ha, we have the alloy one from the mad van. I don't know how fast it is but it's nuts. We bought the 67 GTO , that's too nice. Looks like a real one , need the charger now. Have a good weekend mate. I'll be building the sand scorcher.
Thanks mate! I'm sure more Beetles will come along. Haha, don't ya hate that, when RC's just jump in the car😂. Oh yeah that magnifyer is real handy, it's no good at a distance of course, so you need to be up close but it works great. Plus you have your hands free and no huge magnifying glass getting in the way. Ah yeah, the old carbon on the rotor button problem. Wow, it's been a long time since I've cleaned a rotor button, seems like a lifetime ago. Yeah the G11 part on the VQS is the weak point, I also thought of making one out of alloy since I have a lot of alloy parts coming for it. I've not seen an alloy G11 for sale but there are carbon ones. I think alloy will be unique so I'll probably do that, it's just a flat piece so easy to make. Nice, you guys must have a few cars now! Haha the skipping rope drive shaft made me laugh, that's exactly what they do. I do like the new Kyosho muscle car line, the have awesome detail. You too mate, have fun building the Sand Scorcher. 👍
Good work sir! Nice job on the driver. Not a fan of the tamiya paints - try Games Workshop's acrylics - they are very good. Like the fan on the esc! Megadeth! 🤘
I'm out of Megadeth joke material right now, but you did look a bit like Vic Vella with those big glasses on, ha ha... On a serious note, I think I might want to check those out for the winter, I have a couple 1/32 scale to build, a bit of magnification might help! It's a cool 4wd buggy, I'm looking forward to you take it out for a rip! Have a good one there!
Haha, I'm seeing the Vic resemblance. The magnifier really works well, I don't know how I went without it for so long. It will definitely help for 1/32 scale models. Thanks mate, hoping to get it out soon for a run. Should run nicely. You too mate! 👍
Excellent job!!! The car and the driver both came out looking fantastic! I do really like the RZ motor peeking out from under the back of the body and it looks perfect with the decals. I see you traded the time not spent on the pre-painted body and dedicate yourself to the driver, great job on him. I never have the patience with the drivers as they are usually one of the last things and I just want to go out and drive it!! RC Elf is amazing and they hooked you up with a really awesome car! Congrats and again, great job!
Thanks Addam! I agree, I think the RZ looks great with the VQS, it should go great too. Oh yeah, I had some extra time on my hands there thanks to Tamiya. Haha, I know what you mean, I have had many unpainted drivers in the past and a lot of unpainted bodies too! lol The RC Elf is awesome, two thumbs up to him! Cheers mate. 👍
Thanks Bill. That is my "Bandit Drifter" I built a couple of years ago. It's basically a HPI Trans AM body on a HSP Flying Fish brushless chassis. There's a few videos about it on my channel. 👍
Thats a cool headlamp piece, I like the sexy reveal of the shineeeeee..... is the paint applied generously on the pre-painted body? OH MY GOD that looks soooooooooo sexy..... aiyahhhhh Ive been avoiding this due to pricing but.......
It is mate, makes things a lot easier! Haha, not quite as smooth as I was hoping for lol. I'm not sure how many coats they used but the paint looks top notch. Thanks Rex, I'm happy with how it turned out. 👍

I was kind of on the fence with this one too but same as you, the more I saw it then more I wanted it. Thanks! 🙂👍
There's no doubt about it! Out of all the channels I watch. U r by far the neatest and cleans when it comes to it wiring skills! So be proud for sure👍
