Call of Duty 4 in 2024 is...Unplayable

- Call of Duty 4 has long been regarded as one of the best games in the franchise. But as time has gone on some of the games mechanics, lack of player base and hackers have rendered the game unplayable. What are your thoughts on Call of Duty 4?

oh yeah servers with modded hud and New Experience nothing is normal and I bet more people play xbox cod4 than PC
This was my first Call of Duty and my favourite. Thank you grandad for buying it, I miss you
I'm just glad i got to play this back in the day, along with Halo 3. 2007 was epic for fps and video games as a whole. I'd give anything to go back and experience it all again...

I am glad to be a console boy and rarely seeing a single hacker, I don't think I've ever actually played against one
I used to be lucky not seeing a hacker but up within the last couple years it’s been non stop.

Same, even playing today backwards compatible on Xbox One/Series is actually pretty fun still. At least if you're playing TDM, hadn't had that much fun playing CoD since playing back in the day. I don't even have my same account I had to start fresh and I'm having to earn everything from scratch. Honestly ashamed I missed out on the remaster. I have it now, but the population of the player base is worse than the original on console. As well as it just not being the exact same.
Depends on the game. Been playing a lot of Cod 4 on my 360 and I have yet to run into a hacker. I booted up BO2 one time and got achievement banned.

CoD 4 came out on same year as NFS Prostreet as well. These games will be 17 years eventually. Let that sink in for a minute.

Iv'e just recently reinstalled cod 4 with the 1.7 patch for multiplayer but can't access any servers because of the punkbuster issue - Iv'e even tried overwriting files in the pb folder which people say bypass this issue but can't gain access.
Any suggestions ?
Idk mine worked and there was cod 4x butt that doesn't work there are few servers that work without it like FFA forgotten heroes server is a good one

I recently bought the og cod mw and I played both singles and multiplayer and I still think it holds up to this day one of the best game.

lack of player base = try uninstalling dlc (dlc fucks w searching)
modders are rare = if you do find a modder they get bored or another modder kicks then to make the lobby normal
The player counter is broken. It has shown the same numbers for close to 10 years at this point.
this was my favourite cod, slightly ahead of black ops 1, i was never a fan of mw2 for some reason. i need to play this game tomorrow.
Cod2 and cod4 were best.... No bullshit perks,only pure skill,especially CoD2
