1:21 electric smelter is better in case of fuel because you need plank for recycle for shop also battery can be used infinitely just need recharge station which is available due to wind mill. Also you don't need to waste space to store planks. Also it looks good aesthetically
To me the adv smelter was a big upgrade. For a while now the stacked setup you show for simple smelters has been my default. It's a LOT more fiddly to use than the advanced smelter. The stacked setup requires some serious hunt-the-pixel shenanegans to remove the ingot and add more ore -- particularly for the bottom smelters. Worse yet, it's not the same pixel for both operations! Plus clickety-click-click to add fuel for each smelter. The advanced smelter is exactly 3 clicks to pull out the 3 more to load more ore. And zero pixel hunting because targeting any part of the machine works.
Consider this about the Electric smelter. Electricity is basically free, with windmills. This means, no matter what massive wood stores you have, you can put that wood into recycling, and get a ton of trash cubes with which to trade/buy at trading posts. This, in my opinion, is the advantage here.
I think wearing animal heads should decrease the aggro range for the head you are wearing: Wear a bear head, bears won't aggro unless you get really close. Gives a real use for the heads other than biofuel.
Fascinating! The only one of these I knew was leaving Bruce's head so he takes longer to despawn. The investigation of furnaces was extremely interesting and useful for me because I didn't realise you can get more standard furnaces in the same space as the advanced. Ali, you are invaluable. Thank you.
The Missus and I play together on Raft regularly, and these are fun little videos for us both to watch and get some info from. Keep it up! Also, the slow, relaxing piano cover floating around in the background is gorgeous.
It gets normal, if you've been playing for a while, I guess. A lot of rafts of old players have both this, and some of them have all foundations fortified (because back in the day, the shark could attack ANY unfortified foundation)
The crop plot myth is partially confirmed, but only in regards to flowers. I use the advanced crop plot for my bee farm. When harvesting the flowers with the advanced crop plot I always get get a 1:1 ratio of flowers to seeds.
Thank you for your videos Alidove. I enjoyed this myth busting video. I have a different suggestion for shark free time while harvesting the sea. Anchor the raft in a barren area near the island. Since Bruce will stay near the raft, the shark won't be in areas you intend to harvest.
I haven't seen anyone say this yet in a tips video but you can fish pretty much anywhere. Even islands. You can still pick things up to. So great for when you're emptying collectors
If you need to go to a wiki to know, then it's not common knowledge and, therefore, might be a myth to some. If it was said in the game, that's different.
I haven't had a chance to test this. It involves the crop plots if the longer you wait the less seeds you get. I find after waiting a few minutes before harvesting my flowers i get each seed back
Great stuff once again thanks for all the testing you do. I knew a lot of them but not the crop plots and smelter as I have not used them enough to see if there was a diference.
Sounds like it's time to make a Mod for Raft that upgrades a few of the "Advanced" things to their better mode. Like Crop Plots giving a +50% seed drop rate or something. Ore found in advanced collection nets sounds good, but you know what would be good. Is once you unlock the metal detector it starts to spawn briefcases out in the water.
That would be interesting to know. Early titanium wouldn't give you access to much but it would be nice to have some titanium stored up for when things like the advanced battery become available.
It is indeed a myth. Even with a metal detector, it doesn't create the object for you to dig up until you beeped over a spot with all lights on the detector lit. I've messed around a bunch with exiting without saving and reloading to try and see if I can influence treasure RNG for the related achievements. You can be standing in the exact spot of a treasure, shovel out, and dig but hit nothing. Pull out the metal detector and activate it so it beeps. Switch back to the shovel, all without moving your character or camera, but now you can dig it up. To dispel any other myths, the kind of treasure is set and as far as I can tell can't be influenced. As in, whether it's a safe, case, trash pile, or one of the four tiki pieces. Unfortunately for the tiki achievement, reloading before using the metal detector at all doesn't change which tiki piece you dig up. For the others though, their contents are determined as you grab them. You can fully dig a safe up for example, save, grab it, and if it doesn't have the painting/cassette/titanium/etc. you want, just quit without saving and try again.
It always felt like leaving the shark with its hard made it take longer to respawn, but it's too hard to tell for sure, since your rapidly swimming around like a lunatic, getting anything that's not nailed down.
I always knew the shark stayed away longer if you didn't loot the head, finally some confirmation! Also, this confirms I will never build advanced nets, what a waste of titanium. You'd think you could get better loot catches or something.
So sad, that electric smelter should be faster, like smelters in conan exiles, an advance one is faster. Rly usefull that one about the shark, i will use it ^^ and finally a visual confirmation about engines xD thank you!
I have a theory that I never really tested nor looked into but I think the longer you let fruit and/or flowers grow or left the stay in the plot the higher chances of getting seeds
If you guys need food for a biofuel refinery two shark heads fill one up. It’s a good source of fuel so make sure to grab it by the end! I didn’t learn this until recently and had over 60 shark heads saved up. Haven’t had to purposely made food for it yet in the past couple of months
My current raft has both 20 of the bloomery smelters and 6 electric smelters. It's annoying to not smelt a full stack of 20 with the electric, but using the wind rechargers for fuel, I'll say this - wood is collecting MUCH MUCH faster than it was when I was using the bloomery smelters.
I really like your videos, could you make a video of medium and large base designs, please. I really like your bases and how you build them. Greetings!!!
Myth: Oxygen Bottle and Flippers will lose durability if you constantly wear it even without being in water. I have yet to test it, but I am unsure if it is true. P.S.: I love your videos, Thank you for making them 😁
No myth to share, just wanted to say that your videos are really cool to watch, the pronounciation is easy to understand for me (I'm french). They are detailed and well explain, keep up the good work !! Btw what is the mod/thing that you use to inprove your overlay (like you can see your speed for example).
electric smelter is the greatest machine added in the whole update smelting ore was by far the most anoying chore to keep up now its 3 clicks 3 bars the machine itself feels the right size for what it does add windturbine and the process goes infinite and free
damn, me and a couple of friends made a raft sized 1300 fondations, and it's been mounths we're using 15 engines and complaining about the amount of biofuel it uses
I'm pretty sure you got the shark myth wrong, by killing Bruce and loot everything right away, he takes 3 minutes to respawn, not 5. You have 5 minutes before the body despawns to loot it, and once it despawns the 3 minute countdown begins, that's where the 8 minutes come from. My usual strategy is to kill bruce and start a timer, go mining and when its almost hitting 5 minutes i come back and loot the body, giving me 3 extra minutes. It doesnt matter if you pick up the head or just don't loot anything.
if i have a high raft like 6 floors high and less then a hundred foundations at sea level will the engine speed be effected? since its only about foundations
this video was so helpful and yet made me so mad, me and my friend made a raft that needed 22 engines... but it seems like it indeed only needs 6 engines...
You missed another detail about the smelters.. the amount of materials needed to make them.. and 4 smelters are much more expensive than 1 electric smelter.
yeah no 2 electic smelters is best with advanced battery. passive work is the best thing in the game. Plus no matter where you are in the story, if you visit an island loot it, leave it, and then return, you can reloot.... So higher end stuff is not expensive... tangaroa farm is easy. Wood is super valuable that is if you dont want a tiny terrible looking raft. Most late game players are going for designs and the high tier wood items are expensive so using wood as fuel is soft throw.... youre talking probably 10+ hours of dedicated time for afk wood farming for a design 200 blocks plus
Not a myth, that's directly indicated in the game. See the voltage meter on it? It goes higher the higher you place the turbine, maxing at 3 full wall heights above foundation level. Wiki has the exact numbers on charge times at each level.
I love watching these videos, but I really hate when she calls the shark Jeremiah. I understand that streamers can call the shark by whatever name they want, but the sharks name is canonically Bruce (in homage of Jaws).

Another one you can be unlimited under water when walking/standing on a detail plank under water (need to start above water)
Does the detail plank allow you to walk in water and makes the shark ignore you

That's a valid take
Plus, it looks way cooler then some stupid sand castle looking, wood burning, ugly, stupid, extra chromosome ass furnace.
Its also free with the biofuel generator because it is just a farming product
0:44 Hey, that's me!
Well, I use the Electric Smelter since it needs less input and the production rate is fine for my SP playthrough.
I think wearing animal heads should decrease the aggro range for the head you are wearing: Wear a bear head, bears won't aggro unless you get really close. Gives a real use for the heads other than biofuel.

Hi Does your Raft move faster if you have 800 foundations and 8/9 engines?
I wish they'd made an improved oxygen bottle. Not to dive longer. One that lasts longer!
Have you tried all Receiver codes in case there are some hidden ones?
Is put all item from inventory to the chest button a mod?
You accidently put the text of "Myth 2" instead of "Myth 3" when you confirmed myth 3
