14:12 , spotted. current Manila archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula, he was still a bishop during this time serving as bishop of diocese of San Carlos. Cardinal Advincula and Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma are O.P brothers. Said by cardinal Advincula during AJP's Episcopal anniversary They were classmates in San Vicente Ferrer Seminary in Iloilo in 1972.
the message of cardinal vidal was so touching as well as the homily of cardinal rosales was very inspiring.he recognized and proclaimed the truth that cebu is the cradle of christianity not just probably in the philippines but in the far east.i am so proud to be a catholic cebuano na nakaambit sa lintunganay sa kristohanong pagtuo nga unang gitisok sa sugbuanong yuta diha sa kasingkasing sa among mga katigulangan.im so blessed and proud..palambuon nato kini hinubad sa mga maayong buhat.
The liturgy of Archbishop Palma's installation is far better from how it was done during Cardinal Rosales and Tagle's installation as Archbishop of Manila. Talo ng Cebu ang Manila pagdating sa ganda ng liturgy. Lemme point some: 1. Benedictine arrangmenet in the altar (You'll NEVER see this at the Manila Cathedral) 2. Beautiful chasuble and miter for the Archbishop and the concelebrants. 3. Archbishop Palma wearing a laced alb and a cincture (though he's not wearing an amice) 4. The use of Latin songs in the mass 5. Chanting of the gospel (instead of just plainly reading it) 6. The splendid pipe organ being used 7. Monsignoris vested in choir dress and matching birreta 8. Servers wearing black cassock 9. Masters of ceremonies wearing amaranth cassock (instead of the white ones I see in others during pontifical masses) 10. Organized greeting of the auxiliary bishops, clergy, religious men and women, lay faithful of Cebu. 11. I love how the color of the chasuble and the retablos give the interior of the cathedral a golden glow. 12. The servers incenses the archbishop and the book of the Gospel as Archbishop Palma blesses the people with it. 13. The faithful are kneeling from consecration until the great Amen (you'll NEVER see it in Manila) 14. The servers incenses the bread and wine during the singing of the Great Amen. 15. Perhaps this one caught my eyes amazingly: the communicants receive Holy Communion KNEELING and ON THE TONGUE (for the 3rd time, HINDI at NEVER niyo 'to makikita sa Manila). PS: Ang ganda pati ng crozier ni Archbishop Palma. Ang elaborate. Pero may mga puna rin ako like: 1. Archbishop Palma is not wearing an amice and dalmatic (complete na sana). 2. Deacons not wearing dalmatic, only a stole and alb. 3. Parang basag po ang boses ng choir (sorry po).
But now, the cathedral of cebu doesn't do benedictine setting on the altar anymore even though the Archbishop presides the mass. That's according to our liturgy commission, they said it is not necessary to put 6- 7 candles on the altar as long as there were 2 oil lamps being lit.
The words of Cardinal Rosales of Manila are indeed consolation and recognition for the church in Cebu. You know over the years that Manila already built it's influence and primacy. Manila became the face of the Philippines (The center of everything including religion) the world recognizes the Philippines as Manila. I went to abroad many times and they only know Manila. ngayon nalang nakikilala ibang lugar. Sa Pilipinas. we often forgot that the Archdiocese of Cebu is as important as the Archdiocese of Manila. Until now we can see that the Pope's focuses on the church of Manila giving him a new Cardinal in the person of Cardinal Advincula and choosing Cardinal Tagle as prefect and first filipino Cardinal to be elevated to the rank of "Cardinal Bishop" is a sign that a Metropolitan see of Manila is a see of importance, strategic importance. Viva Manila! Viva Cebu!
@10khem: very much agree. as a resource person for the coverage, he must be of knowledge to every information he has to impart to the audience... knowing that the resource person is a priest...
there's even no Diocese in Taguig. It is part of the Diocese of Pasig.... I guess it is time for filipino priests to revisit their COde of Canon law, and be familiar of the Archdioceses, Dioceses, Prelatures, and Apostolic Vicariates which comprises the local church in the Philippines....
so sad that the priest who act as a resource person on the event was not familiar to the canon law and the ecclesiastical jurisdiction and also the office of the two Gabriel Reyes being named.

everydays thanks to you
His Eminence Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales, the former Bishop of Malaybalay. Hanas kaayo magbisaya
The pipe organ has given the cathedral a heavenly ambiance.
I wonder why Arbishop Palma wasn't made Cardinal by now? its awfully delayed.
Mali mali ang sinasabi ng resource speaker na pari. nakakahiya.

While Cebu is the cradle of Christianity in the Philippines, Manila is the first archdiocese to be established with Cebu as one of its suffragans.

What's the name of the Entrance song?
Yutang Tabunon and Ecce Sacerdos Magnus. Both arranged by Msgr. Rudy Villanueva
+Niña Gia Acedillo thanks
Leo Da Leo hello, its a cebuano version of Roma Immortale I think... but the tune is Roma Immortale (hymn of the Holy See)
Roman Miguel Javier the tone is similar to the hymn of the Holy See but the lyrics were an original by Msgr. Rudy
so sad that the priest who act as a resource person on the event was not familiar to the canon law and the ecclesiastical jurisdiction and also the office of the two Gabriel Reyes being named.
*Bishop Gabriel Reyes is the Bishop of Antipolo, not Taguig...
*Mandatory retirement age for bishops is not 70, but 75...
*Archbishop Gabrielle Reyes was not elevated to the college of cardinal...
Next time, do an intensive research. hindi yung puchu puchung commentary lang.
The meaning of PC, which appears at the end of the names of some monsignors, is Papal Chaplain, not Papal Chamberlain. :)
uhh it is..
the title Papal Chaplain was called "supernumerary privy chamberlain"
applauding is NOT ALLOWED during mass
