I'm excited to see more about the gate access starter kit at this location. I'm trying to gather as much info about it as I can before I get a driveway gate installed. Thanks for including us in this big deployment!
They make a round DPS/magnetic reed switch that can go into the top or side of the door that will be transparent. You can put it just above or below the strike and use the same holes. Client will never likely see it. You can also get it built into the e-strike, but idk if the ubiquiti one has that option.
Hmm. Wondering why you are not using the new "Access Ultra" reader/hub combo. It seem that it would make your job much much easier and much much less costly! Maybe you know something I don't. I just order a bunch for a ~15 door job. Hope I didn't make a mistake.
I would love to see the user interface and setting up groups, individuals, etc. Are you able to schedule doors to be unlocked during events? And, is there any integration into calendaring which will tell the doors to unlock based on scheduled events?
Absolutely love this. I'm planning something similar for a client but only about 20 doors. thank you for your content! Edit: Why do you not use Access Ultras?
@@felix2uber200 true but the g2 reader is only a few bucks more and maybe customer wants so. I never saw any ultra like openers in Enterprise environments, only with hubs
You mentioned a AI Pro for reading license plates at the gate. Is there a reason you'd choose an AI Pro over the recently released AI LPR that is specifically designed for license plate recognition?
Do you have any idea why the non-enterprise access door hub shows as unavailable in North America in the design studio? I tried to spec out my own condo build with an intercom and it was a blocker to using it to produce a pick list for a quote. All of the in site feedback to ubiquiti seems to go into the void so it is rather frustrating.
Hi Cody, interesting project! good luck!. I have only one deployment with one door where the Unifi striker has been replaced twice, also the controller. But still the striker works randomly, leaving the door unlocked many times... any suggestions?
First off, I want to say thank you for the great content you're putting out! I'm excited to see this project progress. I've worked with a few other access control systems, but I have not done any Ubiquiti yet. I've recently started my own company and will be using a Ubiquiti UDM-Pro as the bases for one of my first jobs I'm starting soon. The client is interested in Unifi Protect and Unifi Access as well, so I'm excited to get the project kicked off. Are you pulling an additional 18/2 for the DPS or going with a smaller gauge like a 22/2, since they're dry contacts? I've not ever had any issue with 22/2 for DPS, if they weren't already built into my mag lock, with any of the other systems I've done. Just curious what your thoughts are on it. Best of luck with the project!
That is awesome content, Cody. Systems with this many readers typically get complex. I don't think Unifi has any kind of advanced reporting or report automation. I would not feel comfortable with Ubiquit strikes on doors that need actual security. I don't think they carry any fire rating. That would be a liability. What is the warranty on them? Scary stuff.
The Unifi Access equipment it ul294 rated. As he is in Canada the strikes likely don't require a cert. If they need to be they cam easily be changed for another brand. they are pretty standard.

Big job. Looking forward to this series.
I wish access was as fully developed back when we put in all the electric door locks here on campus. Looks like a great project!
I agree. PoE is a game changer, especially with the higher power capability of the newer standards.
I am looking forward to the next video. this is good stuff
I'm excited to follow along with this project!
Can't wait to see the rest of the series!
Updated tool list, jigs etc would be nice to see.
This looks like a fun project, looking forward to see this series!
I have a client hesitant to switch so I'll be excited to see a full project.

Another thing for a job like this, you can buy cable specifically for it. It’s ethernet +4 for your strike & door contact all 1 wire pull…

The client bought all the gear. Also the Access ultra would be used for less secure door entries
Hi Cody , can I check what’s the standard you use for the chomping of the lan cable ???

Less security as you could open the doors from outside in theory
@@Zaim-S while yes i get you, co working spaces aren't usually for high security applications. plus with cameras on at all times... idk

Most likely go with the new AI LPR if its release by the time we finish the job

I would make the 18/2 a different color. Like red for example.
Good call not sure what colour they are providing me

The strikes have a 1200Kg holding force, fire rating could be an issue but that depends on the local code and how the building is setup.
No Request to exits on any door?
Ya there’s going to be some forgot to mention in the video but will add for the on site installation
wow that is a lot to do alone...
Please kick em for CNAME's ..
