I have been using this mic the past year for tv news and absolutely love it! I use it on a short boom for one-man banding (hold the boom in left hand, camera in right, or cam on tripod) and it never fails to deliver superb sound.
Hello, I want to buy my first boom mic for film. I want to buy a shotgun mic that is good in both indoor and outdoor. What do you recommend in boya series?
Thanks for the Video! I really enjoyed it. I've been looking for a mic to be used for the recording the sound 2,3 meters away. What do you think about using BY-BM6040 this away? If you think it does not work, any recommendation?
If you are going to be 2 - metres away from the mic you may need something a bit more directional, you may want to check this one out and see if there are any reviews? www.boya-mic.com/shotgunmicrophonesystem/2755.html
@@arhauz9719 I don’t really have a other shotgun mic in a similar price range to compare it against but I like all the Boya mics I have tested so far. They are all really well built and generally sound great for the price. From what I’ve heard it’s a decent entry level shotgun mic 👍🏻
@@neilcollinsrecording appreciate sir. i have a deity d3 pro, way costly but if boya will nearly match the sound quality pick-up...will seriously do consider. thank you sir neil!
I haven't managed to test it outdoor as yet but I'd imagine with the wind shield it would be fine as long as it wasn't too windy? I couldn't say for sure though
Probably not the best mic for voiceovers, you'd be better off with something like this ruclips.net/video/yYFe56ntsEE/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/vHwAPv1hDAE/видео.html or of you have an audio interface possibly this ruclips.net/video/Ab_qsNUcBDU/видео.html
@@neilcollinsrecording for sure I will my friend, as I am just thinking of trying to make a few more dollars before I retired. I know there is more to it than getting a microphone. things like a recorded etc... like an isolation type shield.
@@neilcollinsrecording thanks for your reply. I am using with a Canon XA11 video camera and is plugged in to Ch1. That means is mono and it'll record as mono?
@@neilcollinsrecording Yes and also in recordings when I play on my computer I hear the sound only in one headphone but if I switch from Stereo to Mono in my video player app on computer I can hear in both headphones.
Let me know what you guys think of the mic? COMMENT BELOW

That’s good to hear, it’s good to get other people who use the products to comment. I love it too, great little mic and great quality build 👍🏻
Hey sir, can you tell me which recorder you are using to test the BM6040 microphone?

I used boya for my videos! Not that series tho but I would say it really surprised me in terms of performance!
I've been really impressed by the Boya range so far and for the price unbelievable value for money 👍
Can you compare this mic to Audio Techica AT875R?
I've never used that mic I'm afraid

They seem fairly decent starter mics?

Hi can you compare this to the BY-M1000?
Is it good for short movies?.
sir, you said that you rectify the audio to get better gain setting...how high was it?
I can’t remember tbh what the gain was at when I started I’m afraid

Hello! I have a problem with this mic. When I record, I can hear the sound only in one headphone (left) , is something I do wrong in settings?
It will be something to do with your settings . Are you going in through an interface? What software are you recording to?

That hiss is annoying and loud as hell
