- A Celebration of the Partnership between the Milwaukee County Parks and the Philippine Center and the raising of the U.S. and the Philippine National Flags. The September 27, 2014, event marks the first instance where the Philippine flag will permanently fly alongside the U.S. flag in a public park. Special thanks to PCCCF guests Philippine Consul Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela, County Supervisor John Weishan Jr., Milwaukee County Parks Executive Director John Dargle, and City of Greenfield Mayor Michael Neitzke.
I still remember my Tatay singing both national anthem by our window. He said in the 1920's -1940's they're all required to sing both national anthem. Americans came to our school in Panay to teach us how to build a water pump.
People here complaining about the Philippine flag not being raised fast. The thing is, flag protocols in the US do not require fast raising of flags. Personally, raising a flag quickly can bring about the connotations of conquest or overt nationalism. This isn't in the Philippines; it's in the US, on US soil!
And so, basic common decency is to raise the flag slow and steady in a similar fashion to how the US flag is raised. I am certain Filipinos would find it insulting if the American flag were to be raised quickly on Philippine soil; because the act of raising a flag fast is often tied to the image of war, valour, nationalism, it's even commonly depicted during war cries.

Thank you to the American Legion Post 416 for providing military honors to the U.S. and the Philippine flags ending with a 21 gun salute ( 3 shots , seven rifles) in commemoration of the partnership between the Milwaukee County Parks and the Philippine Center and the long lasting friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of the Philippines.

@@Hynrix_Bryzen they use a internal halyard flagpole that uses a winch to raise the flag, its litterally impossible to raise the flag quickly without breaking the mechanism, also these winch poles are very expensive in the Philippines
@@justamrcreeper6467 that's an expensive flagpole you never see the design of a flagpole like that they use it because of thieves can't lower the flag because their a key to lower the flag

In why 4:12 why there is firing the gans?
It's a 21-gun salute (there are seven of them and but they each shot twice only...). Usually, this is practiced in parades or ceremonies as a form of military honor, in this case, it is a way for the legionnaires to pay their respect for both flags. Think of it like doing a salute, but by shooting gun rounds.
And mind you, they usually use blank rounds for safety. So, no projectiles were shot.
