He didn't put a charging circuit, it was a buck converter, the leads on the charger go straight to battery and will burn the battery if you charge straight on a usb

Wow amazing! Very clever thinking of reusing smartphone parts into a useful gadget especially the double action switch using silicone glue. Following this video how to build it is not quite possible to follow and to build one because there are missing parts or section of the making especially choosing the value of resistor and transistor for the constant current source or the design part of the constant current, the reverse engineering schematic of the 3.7V to 5V circuit or module. This video is great for watching the final usable product especially on its unique footprint constraint using Duracell AA battery casing.
