To people noticing the sweating: not only is it physically challenging (to play these hard pieces during one concert), but he is also under floodlight which makes his body temperature go up.
This performance will likely never be surpassed . Berezovskys level of accuracy, and emotion is just marvelous and something very few people will ever reach the level of. I tried to play this, and in comparison, the level of dexterity this guy has is not even funny.
Billy Zhu sorry Trifinovs was garbage compared to this performance, that’s my opinion. People are really overlooking this performance and it’s accuracy, power, and stamina.
Billy Zhu some people might say Berezovsky made a lot of mistakes. Well maybe he made a few, but they are completely inaudible. Trifonovs performances had many audible mistakes. Trust me I know these pieces like the back of my hand.
Berezovsky's version is absolutely manic and really emphasizes on the 'agitato' aspect of this piece. The fury, velocity, strength and power of his playing absolutely amazes me. Liszt would be proud!

dude what is this shitty excuse "i want music without ads" first of all, you can not monetize this because it is not your intellectual propery in the first place. why don't you ask for money under your own recordings and productions... you should already be more than happy you're getting any traffic from posting others' work but seems like that's not enough for you so you have to literally point how you make nothing from other people's work? No shit, Sherlock, seriously?
Fougue et passion pour l'interprétation de Berezovski, finesse et passion pour celle de Claudio Arrau, tous les deux nous entraînent avec Liszt au grand galop.
I talked with Francesco Libetta. He said that Boris was a complete mess in this concert. That is why there are so many jump cuts. Because they had to re-record audio. Also the cameras broke during this recital. So Boris played pieces in order to look sweaty again after the cameras were fixed.
I still prefer Lugansky's version. Berezovsky sometimes hurries a bit too much in my opinion while Lugansky's performance seems to be more musical. However, both versions are amazing, I probably couldn't even play this piece if I wanted to.
This is not my favorite performances for some of the parts but wow that "wrong" note at 3:11 makes this whole section even more devilishly epic than it already was and I wish it were in the actual piece now, so cool

Berezovsky is probably the best technician out there. Along with beautiful musicality, and expression. There are probably more who are capable but are not willing to risk. He doesn't give a fly and goes for it anyway. And this is the result we get. Masterpiece
There is no way this is better than cziffra's, Berezovsky's appasionata lacks passion, he doesn't tell the story, rushes through the lyrical parts. If you would have heard the criffra's version in atleast this qualitty, you would crap your pants.
Dragon Soundworlds I saw your interpretation, although good, for some reason all of the recordings I’ve seen don’t match up to the pianistic mastery of this recording
If only Berezovsky was luck enough to meet you naturalroayalflush. Clearly you are a well respected, established, anonymous internet person of superior interpretation and intelligence. Your insightful tips could really improve his career. Unless you can organize some sort of an intervention, I fear he will continue to play like an idiot for the rest of his days. How tragic. :-)
I have to argue this in the best interpretation of this piece ever recorded. His touch is amazing every key has a significance in this one. The emotion, grand sound, and amazing technique cannot be beaten in This recording.

he played all Transcendental Etudes at this night! This is crazy!! Go Boris go!
although, sometimes he is not accurate, this is exactly what I want to hear in this etude!!! Demonic power, "appasionato" and agitato !!! Amazing!
What? This is the most accurate performance of this piece!!

Completely agree with you, Imeda. Not perfectly accurate in some moments, but so amazing expression and power.

In this case, he plays better than Cziffra for the reason that Cziffra goes reducing the tempo slowly for every etude.
