2024 Elections | MK Party calls judiciary into question after Concourt ruling on Zuma's eligibility

- Former president Jacob Zuma is not eligible to stand for this month's elections. This after the Constitutional Court overturned the order of the Electoral Court that found that his sentence and conviction was not a sentence and conviction as envisaged in a section of the Constitution.
The apex court has found that the Zuma will only be eligible to stand after five years have lapsed following the completion of his sentence.
The section declares as ineligible any person that was convicted of an offence and sentenced to more than 12-months imprisonment without the option of a fine.
MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela joins us now for reaction on the constitutional court judgment on Zuma's Eligibility to run for elections this year.

Zuma will be on the Ballot come 29 May 2024, for MK Party voters that's all that matters. And they are not worried about the ConCourt judgment at all. Zuma just said it yesterday that he is not going to Parliament as an NEC of MK.

If a political party win the elections by 66%that is a two third majority and that will allow them to change the current constitution of the country.
As it stands right now, the ANC and EFF together hold 66% in parliament, if they came to agreement on an issue they can amend the consitution as they have 66%. if the ANC cannot attain a majority they can go into coalition with the MK if they both attain a vote which together gives them 66% which might produce a 2/3 majority in parliament where they could force the ANC to vote in their favour or leave the coalition. So you have a hung parliament where no one is outright able to come into power except via coalition.
